I thought it was a decent episode, but the story falls all to bits once you start thinking hard about it.

Spoiler
If Rory is the "good man" River killed, I'm not going to believe he's actually dead considering he's died and come back so many times. Maybe he has horcruxes?

This week we get the Neil Gaiman episode! Looking forward to it, since he's been talking about it for ages on Twitter.

Okay, my thoughts on the last episode.

Spoiler
I was a bit disappointed at the thought of a "demon" curse but the idea of her actually being a doctor in a different plane was very clever. I was glad this week wasn't so intense. I'm still confused as to why Amy's pregnancy test is going back and forth. I mean, I understand it's from all the time travelling, I just don't get the details (is she pregnant while in the TARDIS and not pregnant when she's in a historic time or what?).

From the preview on next week's episode, "The Doctor's Wife", that one lady reminds me of Helena Bonham Carter! ;))
(Which is no complaint, I love HBC!)

EDIT: I totally forgot to mention something that no else seems to notice? Who is

Spoiler
that lady with the eyepatch that has popped up in this latest episode and 'Day Of The Moon'. In 'Day Of The Moon' she appeared in the door and said "I think she might be dreaming' and then disappeared. She appeared in 'Curse Of The Black Spot' as Amy woke up. Who is this lady? Where is she coming from? How is she able to follow and watch them?

Sorry I'm late to the party! But I figured, "better late, than never". ;)

When did you first hear about Doctor Who?
I don't remember, sorry. It's been several years now, though. I can't say if I just came across it on my own late one night on SyFy... or if I first heard of it here on Nweb, noticed it'd be on, gave it a go and got hooked.
The important thing is that I found it... wouldn't you say? ;))

I might have even technically heard of it, before I "heard of it"... because I noticed that Tom Baker (BBC Narnia's Puddleglum) had it on his resume on wiki. :p

What was the first episode that you watched?
Uhh... I'm having trouble recalling.
1) It was either the one with the kid that had the gas mask. (a two-parter, I think)

or

2) Another two-parter, that took place at a school and had Thomas Sangster (the kid who played Simon in Nanny McPhee). I know this was one of the first ones I saw, and it must have been ages ago. I say that, because I remember hearing him before I saw him (I was online too, so my attention was divided), looked up and squealed "That's Eustace!" (this was before they had picked a Eustace) I don't know why, but his character in that episode REALLY reminded me of Eustace, and he looked like he could be related to the Pevensies. So, suffice it to say I was a little wary of Will Poulter at first... I'd never seen him in anything, and already had this kid in my head. :p But I love that they picked Will now, and think he was PERFECT. Anyway... sorry for the tangent. Where were we? :p

Classic Who fan or NuWho fan?
Um, as sure as I am that I'd love them all, I'd go with NuWho. Why? Because I've only ever seen the new stuff... namely, a handful of the ones with the 9th Doctor, and a bunch with the 10th.

Who is your favorite Doctor?
As I said, I've only ever known two of them. :p But out of those two, the 10th aka David Tennant. Partly because I've seen him the most, and partly 'cause he's just so cool. B-)

Who is your favorite Companion?
I don't know much about any of them. I've seen Donna the most, but have seen quite a few with Martha, and some with the rest. I've also seen a few episodes of the Sarah Jane Adventures too. So, it's hard to say really. I think I like them all, for different reasons.

Who is your favorite Villain?
As I haven't seen too much of the show, I don't feel qualified to answer this.

What is your favorite episode?
Oh, gosh... I don't know! I've loved pretty much every episode I've seen.
I remember the time they went to Pompeii... I remember the one that had Colin Morgan (aka Merlin; that was one of the episodes I've seen most recently and that was awhile ago). Umm... I liked the two I mentioned that were among the earliest I saw. I liked the one in the library. Uhh... *thinks*

How excited are you for Series 6?
Let me tell you a story... several months ago we got new channels. I was thrilled to see BBC America was one of them!! Now I didn't have to wait for it to show up once in a blue moon on SyFy channel at 3 or 4 in the morning! I got to watch episodes IN THE AFTERNOON! :D

This is when I first saw the 9th Doctor's episodes, rather, the few of his I saw. But then, just as I was getting really excited to be FINALLY catching up (lots of my online friends here and other places LOVE this show), and just as the new season was a few months away... BAM! They decided (without asking if I'd mind) to drop the new channels. So, there went my opportunity to get to know the show better... and see the new series/season.

I got really bummed, and still am, to be honest. That's part of why I would only skim this thread sometimes and not post til now. I was too hurt from having to miss out. Oh, well... I guess I can still be a part of the discussion using my limited knowledge of it. ;)) :D

Hmm... Just had the pirate episode in Australia. It wasn't great; only okay. There were all the tropes linked with pirates, which is understandable. I didn't see that twist coming but I also wasn't surprised by it. The Captain's character was well-done though. I felt he, his boy and his crew adapted much too easily to the spaceship. All 'round, some interesting ideas wrapped up in a very average episode.

TheFourSigns, how is it refreshing (and good) to have a nagging companion? I can't think of anything worse. I don't understand how you can like her in the Bride episode, I thought she was insufferable in it. Donna is a great companion because, despite her nagging, she is very human and strong-willed and just interesting all 'round. The nagging companion is nothing new though (the Classic Doctor Who had it's fair share of them).

The nagging was nice though because Rose had spent the past two seasons drooling over the Doctor. It was a nice change to have someone who doesn't just worship the ground the Doctor walked on. Though if Donna had stayed in her original personality the entire fourth season, it would have been beyond annoying.

The Neil Gaiman episode was everything I could possibly have hoped for. I think it might have vaulted to the head of my favorite episodes list. If he wants to write more episodes, I'm all for it.

Spoiler
The TARDIS telling the Doctor she picked him out because she wanted to see the universe and the bit at the end with the lever moving itself were my two favorite moments, but the rest of the episode was just fantastic.

Let's see if I can remember these lines close enough to quote them...

Spoiler
I stole a Time Lord and I ran away with him.

Spoiler
This one was something along the lines of... "You silly idiot. You have what you have always had. You have me." I know this one's not quite exact.

My favorite lines of the entire episode. This episode was, to borrow the term from the 9th Doctor... "Fantastic!" I loved the fact that Rory

Spoiler
finally got a role more than just "Mr. Pond."

Okay, so I had been noticing that new Doctor Who episodes show up in the 'On-Demand' section of comcast and thought that if I missed one week, it would be fine, since I could always watch it later.

Of course, this particular episode hasn't be on the On-Demand list. I may look later tonight to see if they've updated it.

But anyways, now I'm behind. *sigh*

I also missed the latest episode but hope it'll be replayed soon on BBC America.

Thanks for the tip about On Demand, mm1991 - all of Series 5 is available and I'm reviewing it now (catching the episodes I missed last year, and reviewing the ones I saw).

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

They usually reshow the previous week's episode on BBCAmerica before airing the new episode, so you should be able to catch back up.

Thanks, Bookwyrm. Looks like I'll be recording both since I'll be away from the TV Saturday evening.

I've finished my review of Series 5 (things go a lot faster without commercials! ;) ) and I liked it better the second time through. I was distracted the first time because I didn't see all the episodes (thus missing some of the little continuity bits) and was still getting used to Matt Smith as the Doctor and Amy as the new companion.

Hey everyone! So sorry about taking so long to wrap up the contest. I've been sick all week, and well, raffles were a low priority. :p ;)

I went back today and counted up all the FAQ's that were filled out. We had 11 eligible entries, and I used Random.org to choose a winner.

I'm really pleased to announce that the winner of the Doctor Who Raffle and music giveaway is none other than #5, Pepper!! Congratulations Pepper! :) I'll be PMing you for your prize.

And just so you know, everyone, if Pepper does not claim his prize within a week, I'll do another draw. :)

Thanks for playing, everyone! Hope you had as much fun as I did!

Wow, thanks! Funny, I've had this music stuck in my head all week for some reason. Probably because there are NEW EPISODES, yay! It's great.

(the week before that I had "high king and queen of Narnia" stuck in my head, it about drove me nuts)

By the way, two things I have observed:
1. The "My name is Amy Pond, when I was little I had an imaginary friend" bit at the beginning is NOT on the episodes when aired in the UK. That's being added, I suppose, for an American audience who might not be as familiar.
2. BBC America is notorious for butchering their shows, usually they will leave the first airing alone but then they cut pieces out to fit in more commercials and cover it with screen spam.

Interesting, Pepper. In Australia, we've also been getting the Amy Pond introductions before each Season 6 (of the reboot) episode and Aussies have known of and ravenously watched Who episodes since it first began in the early 60's.

I finally got to see 'The Doctor's Wife'. It was a great episode but I think that it was a little too overhyped.

Since a new episode has aired, will I be forgiven for this double-post? ;;)

"The Rebel Flesh" aired Saturday night, the first part of two.

Spoiler
That lady with the eyepatch showed up again in this episode but didn't say anything and once again was only seen by Amy.

I'm very curious on how the Doctor is going to deal with his own doppelganger. He preaches that the humans and their doppelgangers can all exist peacefully on the same planet, but is he going to stick with that view now that he has one of his own that he must deal with?

The next episode is part two, "The Almost People".
