Kandy Man was, I think, from the Sylvester McCoy era. Don't remember for sure, I only saw that one once. The only thing I remember of the story was that it was quite disturbing.

When did you first hear about Doctor Who?
I actually discovered Doctor Who independently of NarniaWeb. My dad and I happened to catch The End of the World when SciFi Channel showed it for the first time. I liked it more than my dad did and we watched bits and pieces of the first two seasons, finally only seriously watching it when BBCAmerica started showing the third season.
What was the first episode that you watched?
The End of the World
Classic Who fan or NuWho fan?
NuWho fan
Who is your favorite Doctor?
I think I'd actually have to pick Matt Smith. I never thought I'd like him better than David Tennant, but he's just so mad and brilliant. Everything we could ask for in a Doctor.
Who is your favorite Companion?
Donna with Rory and Amy sharing the second place on the list. Rose is languishing at the bottom.
Who is your favorite Villain?
The Master
What is your favorite episode?
I'd be hard pressed to pick just one. Blink is high on the list as is pretty much every single one of the series finales. The newest Christmas special was fantastic as well.
How excited are you for Series 6?
I'm counting the days!

First time hearing about? I more or less happened upon the poor fellow as he was trying to keep from being crushed by some homicidal robot.
That was The Giant Robot, episode, which also introduced me to my favorit Doctor, Tom Baker. Which also answers the question about classic vs. NuWho.
Favorit companion? Lets see, I was a young fellow at the time, and must admit to being rather smitten with Leela.
Can we really have a favorit villian? I don't mean to start something, but if we really want to ask, maybe we could say who would we really want to have posted on the dart board in the local pub?
For that, I would have to nominate The Master, hands down.
No favorit episode, though Fang Rock does stand out for me.
Can't say much for the next season, as I have seen little of the NuWho at all.

By the way. I cannot recall the actore who played the Doctor, but the Kandyman was honestly not much of a villian as the Doctor could glue him to the floor with lemon juice.

I just started watching Doctor Who the other day. I have been kind of interested in watching the show for awhile now but never sat down and tried an episode.

So the very first episode I saw would be the one with the mannequins that come to life. I've seen 2-3 episodes since then. My sisters have been watching them on Netflix, according to Netflix they have been watching the episodes chronologically. I sit down and watch an episode with them when I have time.

I like Doctor Who, it is pretty interesting but I have only seen the back episodes so I'm watching last century animation, quality, and acting. Not the best! The show tends to be a little on the suspenseful, creepy side and I am a whimp when it comes to suspense. I just cannot handle it!

Last night we watched The Empty Chair, the episode with the gas masked creatures of doom. Ugh! It was so, so creepy and sad. I loved the Doctor when he was dancing around yelling, "And everybody lives!" After the story ended happily I could go to bed without nightmares. :)

What are ya'll's favorite soundtracks?

Well, we only have Series 4 and have heard parts of 1-3 only a couple of times, so I can't really say. ;)) But I like Series 4 and I remember Martha's theme being really pretty as well. :)

Haha, Gymmie. If I remember right, though I haven't seen it, the Kandyman is from a Seventh Doctor episode, as a couple others have said. The Happiness Patrol, maybe? *checks* Haha, yes! I was right. ;))

Who is your favorite Villain?
The Valeyard

Oh! That was one I forgot. He's certainly a very interesting one, if mainly for what he foreshadows/means/represents/whatever. :)

Wow, here's some stunning news that has taken me completely by surprise. Elisabeth Sladen, former Doctor Who companion and star of the Sarah Jane Adventures, passed away today following a battle with cancer. I can't find any news reports on this (it's very recent), but a higher-up on the well-known DW forum Gallifrey Base confirmed it, so it must be true. :(

How incredibly saddening. I knew she'd been ill, but nobody knew how bad it was. Rest in peace, Lis.

ETA: This is now being confirmed by BBC. Such a beautiful lady will be missed greatly. :( Prayers going out to all her family and friends at this time.

I was quite surprised to learn this, Gymfan, when I got on NarniaWeb today. She wasn't much older than my sister. It's been confirmed on sites such as Doctor Who News and others. RIP.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

here's the link directly from the BBC about it that tells the reactions of some of the writers/directors about this unfortunate news.

I still can't believe that she's passed away... :(

Oh my. What stunning, heartbreaking news. :( She was a wonderful actress, the most beloved companion in the history of Doctor Who, and a truly lovely woman in every way. She will be very much missed.

Praying for her family and friends in their loss.

I didn't even know she was sick. :( Being a fan of Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures this saddens me greatly. :(

Something that might cheer everyone up: Catherine Tate and David Tennant in a Red Nose Day skit back in the day. (Will probably be funnier to those who have seen up to the 4th season. ;) )

(Argh, I don't know how to embed a video. :( Oh well ;)) )

When did you first hear about Doctor Who?

The 70's :)

What was the first episode that you watched?

I don't remember exactly, but the first episode/story arc I consciously remember is The Ark In Space. Good, creepy one to start out with, eh? ;))

Classic Who fan or NuWho fan?

I've always enjoyed Classic but very recently I've started watching the new ones, starting with the 9th Doctor episodes from 2005.

Who is your favorite Doctor?

Tom Baker. And to echo what stargazer said earlier, Baker has (unfair or not ;)) ) a sort of death grip on the memories of folks over 35 since he's the one we grew up watching and he played the Doctor for a very long time. Love that scarf. :D

One lasting question I've ever since childhood though...what is a Jelly Baby? Is it like Swedish Fish or a jellybean?

Who is your favorite Companion?

Sarah Jane Smith, absolutely no contest. She was my first ever crush, and that's no lie. B-) I loved K-9 too, but then what little kid wouldn't?

Who is your favorite Villain?

The Daleks of course! Any episode anywhere or any *time* that involves the Daleks is worth the viewing by default.

What is your favorite episode? Anything with the Daleks, of course; Genesis of the Daleks and Destiny of the Daleks are two that I remember fondly. Pyramids of Mars was great, as was The Talons of Weng-Chiang.

How excited are you for Series 6?

Huh?

Since I'm running through the new (to me) episodes with Eccleston (9th Doctor) on Netflix, I've run into some plot details that have thrown me for a loop. I don't know if these occurred back in the 80's when Doctor Who was last on regularly or if this is some plot twist meant for the newer series, but what's up with this Time War? Why is the Doctor the last Time Lord? They were always there back in the 70's...something happen that I missed?

Here's a great tribute to #4 played by Tom Baker, along with a whole lot of great footage of Sarah Jane Smith in action too. It was a great time to be a kid, I tell you. :D

I don't know if it was actually shown in the classic Who (since I've never seen the classic series) but here's the information that I could find on the Time War that the Doctor refers to

^^ Ditto what Elle said. The Time War is something that was never portrayed on TV, and is meant to have happened between the end of the "classic" series and the start of the "new" series. A lot of S1 of "NuWho" deals with the ramifications of the Time War and how it's changed the Doctor, and how he's trying to reconcile himself to it.

Oh, and you probably already know this, but they started numbering the series from the beginning ever since NuWho started, so that's why Series 6 starts tomorrow, not Series (insert whatever number Classic series there were plus six more).

When did you first hear about Doctor Who?: A couple of years ago.
What was the first episode that you watched?: I don't know what it was called. It was a few years ago and it was with David Tennant where he was battling pig people in a skyscraper? It was REALLY weird and I HATED IT! I didn't watch another episode again until I heard the show was getting a new Doctor (Matt Smith!). I tuned in and I instantly fell in love. (Yes, I hated David Tennant, feel free to throw rotten tomatoes at me! :p )
Classic Who fan or NuWho fan?: NuWho.
Who is your favorite Doctor?: Matt Smith, of course! :D
Who is your favorite Companion?: Amy Pond! (River Song doesn't count as a Companion, right?!?!)
Who is your favorite Villain?: Hmm....Daleks.
What is your favorite episode?: "The Time Of Angels" or "A Christmas Carol"
How excited are you for Series 6?: SUPER excited! ;)
