About 130 or so episodes have been lost due to being taped over back in the day. You can get most of the series on DVD now, at least in Australia. Many of them are really poor though, so you might just want to get the quality seasons (it's also cheaper).

Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11

You mean they sell the whole classic series in one set? :-

No, no. Absolutely not. They sell each by story or season.

In response Warrior, I am just trying to watch the reboot. It's hard to find the episodes, but I really like it so far!

If you have Netflix Instant, they have the first 5 seasons of the reboot on there and a few of the specials (not all the specials, I don't think, just a few). They also have a few Classic Who shows on there too. :)

P.S."Brooklyn!"

There are only two of the new show specials that I know of not on Netflix Instant: A Christmas Carol and Planet of the Dead. I expect ACC will be added with series 6 and PotD is available as a DVD through Netflix. The specials "Waters of Mars" and "End of Time" are available on Instant, but they are separate from the main series. :)

When did you first hear about Doctor Who?
I'm not sure when, but it must have been when I was watching another British show that mentioned it.
What was the first episode that you watched?
Episode 1 of the reboot 'Rose'.
Classic Who fan or NuWho fan?
I don't really care for older movies or TV shows, so 'NuWho'.
Who is your favorite Doctor?
They say you never forget your first Doctor, so Eccleston is right up there, but Matt Smith just edges him out.
Who is your favorite Companion?
I would have to say that Amy is my favourite companion. Plus, with Amy you also get Rory, and their interactions are often hilarious.
Who is your favorite Villain?
I really like 'The Silence" from season 6. Very scary. :)
What is your favorite episode?
This is a hard one, but since I can only choose one episode, I would have to say 'Midnight' from season 4. That episode is probably one of the best written episodes.
How excited are you for Series 6?
A bit late, but I was in fact, very excited, and enjoyed the season immensely. I can't wait for the Special this year, and of course, season 7!

I think I'm part of the forgetful club, but I forgot

Just realized that I still hadn't done this.
When did you first hear about Doctor Who? A while back. I think I was first exposed to it in the first or second year of my undergraduate studies.
What was the first episode that you watched? The first whole episode I watched was "Flesh and Stone," which was followed by "The Christmas Invasion." (Those were the two episodes on BBC America that day.)
Classic Who fan or NuWho fan? I've been mostly exposed to NuWho, so I will say NuWho.
Who is your favorite Doctor? Matt Smith, hands down. Followed by Tennant, Eccleston and Baker in no particular order.
Who is your favorite Companion? The trio of Amy, Rory and River Song. If I had to choose one it would be between Amy and River, because their relationships with the Doctor are so engaging.
Who is your favorite Villain? The Weeping Angels
What is your favorite episode? Currently, "The Doctor's Wife." I have a hard time choosing a favorite, though, so it changes periodically.
How excited are you for Series 6? Pretty excited for the second half that I'll be able to start watching later this week. I had a hard time waiting to watch the first half until the second was available on DVD.

Question! :D

I've developed an interest in the Classic series of Doctor Who, and I was wondering -- can you buy the Seasons on DVD? Or do you have to buy each individual episode? :-

Lots of them are also available on iTunes, jsyk. I always get my DW fix there. ;))

Poking around tonight online I found this: WARNING: SPOILERS towards the end: http://smallscreenscoop.com/doctor-who-christmas-special-2011-date-and-pictures/319955/

Looks like the U.S. air date for the upcoming Christmas special is Christmas Day in the U.S. :D

Only a few days now till the Christmas Special!

BBC America has posted a second teaser trailer which includes some of the scenes that are pictured in the article kat linked in the previous post. But remember...spoilers. ;)

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Does anyone know if there's a way to watch the Christmas Special if I don't get BBC America?

Oh and then there's news that

outlier, you could always get a friend who gets BBCA to record it for you. That's what I'm doing. ;))

Spoiler
I think that your idea about having a character in the vein of Susan is great, Ithi. Actually, it makes me think of an idea I've had for a while. They should bring back Jenny from "The Doctor's Daughter." She had such potential for interesting plot and character arcs. Georgia Moffett has even said she would love to come back and play the character again.

I'll also be taping it, for a number of friends who are eager to see it but don't have cable. (I'll actually miss watching the episode on Christmas Day, as my parents don't have BBC America. But I can catch it On Demand when I return home next week).

Thumbs up to your spoiler suggestion, shastastwin!
