I've viewed the finale now and have thoughts similar to those already posted:

Spoiler
I was a little surprised that it was the Teselecta robot but as soon as it happened it was kind of a 'duh' moment: "Of course!" ;))

The Silence are creepy bad guys, but another season? Aren't we back in the original timeline in which humans kill them on sight? And what's the significance of the "Doctor Who?" question? (Isn't the answer "42" ? *ducks rotten tomatoes*)

I did like this episode. River marrying the Doctor. "Everything happening at once" - Churchill as the Emperor, the visuals of alternate London - was a fun concept (and yet reminiscent of the end of series 5 with time disintegrating again).

And they seem to have gotten around that pesky farewell scene between the Doctor, Amy, and Rory. ;))

I'm eager to see the Christmas special, as well as series 7!

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Spoiler
Agreed with the comments above that were critical of the Series 6 finale. This was the worst most inaccessible DW finale I've ever watched. The wedding scene was so cheesy..... I hope they get rid of the long term story arc. I also believe they ruined River Song's character by making her related to the Williamses. River was built up to be a great mysterious character with last series' episodes Time of Angels and Flesh and Stone....

Too confusing with too many alternate timelines and reset buttons....no more reset buttons please Mr. Moffatt! The first half's premiere promise was so great for Series 6 and the payoff was dreadfully poor. Last series was much much better.

What a shame. Hope the show can be salvaged for Series 7. They're wasting Matt Smith's talents!

Probably the only best episode of the series that was well-written was The Doctor's Wife...everything else was pretty much destroyed by the long term "who killed the doctor?" arc....which was pretty flimsy in its development over this series...it had soo much promise! *sigh of frustration*

None of the things I thought they would explain from the premiere were explained like I expected them....i.e. how did little Melody get to New York? ....are they going to probably answer that in an episode next series?? ......plus Rory and Amy are just completely fine with not ever having raised Melody from a baby...and that is just so not right.... :-o River having meetings with the Doctor out of order shouldn't also mean that her parents are in so many different alternate timelines that we don't know who is alive, dead, or can't remember something? 8-} And that is definitely one of the problems of making her related to Amy and Rory...too much timey wimey.

#:-s Ok, finale

Spoiler
Basically ditto most of what's been said already:
I had a hunch that it would be either the flesh or the Tesselecta that died, so that wasn't much of a surprise there. I was also pleased with the Doctor's reasoning for faking his death (... well what other option is there?) because I was getting kinda tired of the whole "A Good Man Goes to War" thing where everyone knows who the Doctor is and has big time status across the galaxies...

I'm not a big fan of all of the parallel universes created throughout the new series because they're really hard to follow (aside for maybe the cybermen 2-parter in the second season), but time happening all at once looked pretty darn cool.

I hope the Silence doesn't drag out for much longer, I'm getting kinda tired of this really long arc.

... Now that I the season is over I just realized that this is the first tv show that I haven't watched back to back on Netflix until the show was discontinued or I lost interest in.... What am I going to do until the Christmas special? :-o ;)

Any good Classic Who recommendations? Tom Baker era perhaps?

M'kay, wow.

I'm going to go completely against grain (on this forum, anyhow), because I completely loved the finale. :p

It was humorous, well-written, simplistic yet it answered all the questions I had... and the

Plus, Rory. Just... Rory. :D

I found this chart that someone named "Reboot" made over at the forum that is Gallifrey Base which appears to explain the timey wimey-ness of the Series 6 finale....I think it helps...a little. Anyway...my only favorite thing about the finale was Rory. :D

The finale was alright. I was hoping for something spectacular but it was just 'meh'.

I didn't like the finale. The premise was fascinating and there were some quality scenes but overall I found it confusing, silly and poorly executed. This season really has been hit and miss. They've been some great episodes, some good ones and some mediocre episodes. But really that's Who. I just wish the finale had been better. Series 5's finale was great in comparison. I'm interested to see where we go from here.

I just saw the preview for this, and I can't wait!

Doctor Who is a long-running British sci-fi program. There have been many parallels drawn throughout the years. The Doctor travels around in a TARDIS, which looks like a phone box on the outside but is much bigger on the inside. Remind anyone of a certain wardrobe? :) (That element may have been a deliberate homage.) The show premiered on Nov. 23, 1963 - one day after Lewis passed away.

Anyway, here's the preview for the upcoming Christmas episode. (The preview starts at the 2-minute mark, after a very funny intro by Matt Smith as the Doctor.)

Can you see why I'm just beside myself with excitement?? :D

Yes, you're correct in saying that the special dimensions of the TARDIS were inspired by LWW.

I just started watching Doctor Who. On Friday, my teacher showed our class the episode Blink and I thought it was really great. I loved the Weeping Angels. My friends from summer camp were big Doctor Who fans, so I knew a little about it but after I saw the episode I was like "Oh! Now it all makes sense!" I'm trying to watch the earlier episodes to get as caught up as I can.

The earlier episodes? Good luck! There were over 700 episodes screened before Blink came to the screen. Oh, you mean the reboot? :P

Ahhh, I'm excited for the Christmas special! Since I've started watching the show I've thought it'd be cool if an episode where the Doctor visits the past should be an Inkling episode, so yeah I'm pleased. (Still slightly worried about the whole 'space Jesus' thing because of the ordering of the title, but we shall see...)

I've been seeing around YouTube that there's little mini episodes on the season 6 DVD. One two-part episode about River, and another two-part episode about Amy. Both are semi about the Doctor's adventures when Amy and Rory are sleeping.

Spoiler
I noticed though that some of the adventures he has with River are already some events that have been mentioned before like Jim the fish, and possibly Darillium with the singing towers... Which makes me wonder how many Doctor's she'll be around for if it's the eleventh Doctor she last sees

Question! :D

I've developed an interest in the Classic series of Doctor Who, and I was wondering -- can you buy the Seasons on DVD? Or do you have to buy each individual episode? :-
