You're obviously a NuWho fan because you came to the series very late. I don't think the question is about personal preference between the two versions.
Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11
When did you first hear about Doctor Who?
The first time I ever heard about the Doctor was August 8th of this year. My friend, who was traveling at the time, asked me if I had ever seen it and suggested I watch it.
What was the first episode that you watched?
She said to start with Season 5 Episode 1 and that it would give me a good idea of the show. I LOVED IT. I was hooked.
Classic Who fan or NuWho fan?
NuWHo.. I think? I don't think I've seen anything classic. Yet.
Who is your favorite Doctor?
Well, I am very partial to the 11th, but 10 is definitely right behind him!
Who is your favorite Companion?
That's a tough one. At this point I've seen a lot of Amy and Donna, some of Martha and a bit of Rose. And I like them all!
Who is your favorite Villain?
Hmmm. I really like the Silurians from the Hungry Earth. But the Weeping Angels were pretty creepy/awesome villains.
What is your favorite episode?
Another very hard one, first one that popped in my head was The Time of the Angels & Flesh and Stone.
How excited are you for Series 6?
ksdfhsdkhfhfdkslfkhakhflakdfahf. I've seen the middle three episodes and I can barely contain myself for the rest.
josselynrose: Welcome to NarniaWeb! You're right, Flesh&Stone was a really good one. The part when Amy has to walk through the angels with her eyes closed freaked me out. I didn't really like seeing them move, though. I kinda thought they would turn into something that didn't even look like stone if no one was watching.
So what did you guys think of Night Terrors? What parts did you like best?
Rory said my favorite line after he and Amy
So excited for The Girl Who Waited!

Nice to see some new fans joining the discussion!
BBC America has been rerunning many of the David Tennant episodes afternoons, and I've been watching to either review them or catch the ones I missed. But it makes it interesting to switch back and forth been him and Matt Smith.
Thoughts on "Let's Kill Hitler" (in which I echo some comments already made by others):
Others have noted that River passing on her future regenerations may allow the writers to get around a certain upcoming limit. This makes a lot of sense to me too.
"Retconning" Mels into Amy and Rory's lives seemed a little like a deus ex machina plot device - but if you can't change things in a show about a time traveler, when can you?
And as Gymfan noted, Amy's past has already been rewritten several times.
All in all, a good episode!
And "Night Terrors" (which was also the name of an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation):
I was also reminded of a bizarre movie I saw back in the 70s about a couple trapped in a house; at the end it was revealed they were dolls that had somehow come to life.
But I digress...the resolution here, that George was doing it and had to fix it, was a little unexpected for me. I wasn't sure if Amy or Rory would be transformed, but once she was, I figured the change had to be reversible.
Nice to see a few nods to the past, such as the Doctor's remark about making a house call (to a child in distress) and Rory's "we're dead again!"
And the episode ended with a reminder of an event that is, according to some in last week's show, "written in stone" so to speak...the Doctor's death. I'm curious to see how the writers will get around this.
Random closing remark: I've had the chance to watch "Blink" again a couple times in the last month. Awesome episode!
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
When did you first hear about Doctor Who?
I was on a ski trip and my Venturer Crew Advisor talked about them and let us watch two or three I think.
What was the first episode that you watched?
The Unicorn and the Wasp.
Classic Who fan or NuWho fan?
I am not really the dr.who fan in the family. I enjoy watching and hearing about him but my older sister became a fan when she saw the Agatha episode and has been hooked ever since. But I guess if I picked one it would be Classic Who fan.
Who is your favorite Doctor?
10th doctor. Although, the 11th is not bad either.
Who is your favorite Companion?
Martha Jones. Although, she was really one of the only companions I saw with him. ( I haven't watched many episodes.)
Who is your favorite Villain?
Not sure. The Wasp?
What is your favorite episode?
The Unicorn and the Wasp.
How excited are you for Series 6?
Yes. I plan on buying my sister some of the series and series 6 will be in that bunch I buy.
"Night Terrors" was so awesome! I did get to watch it On-Demand.
Plenty of good one-liners in there.
"Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you!"
- Dr. Seuss
I'm grateful for On Demand...it appears I'll be using it to watch much of this half of the season, due to other real-life things happening during the regular air times.
BBC America is advertising an hour-long "Best of the Monsters" special following tomorrow's airing of "The Girl Who Waited." It'll highlight the season 6 monsters.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
When did you first hear about Doctor Who? I'm really not sure, I just started watching it off and on in 2008 on PBS. Sometimes I feel like I might've seen something about him before.
What was the first episode that you watched?
The first episode I watched entirely was "The Long Game" but the one that really got me was "The Girl in the Fireplace", that was the first one I saw bits and pieces of.
Classic Who fan or NuWho fan? I've heard classic episodes but haven't seen them, so Nuwho.
Who is your favorite Doctor? Tenth and Ninth because, what with the fuzzy reception we used to have (we get better reception now) and all that seeing random pieces of episodes in series 1&2, I used to think they were the same guy. Ninth is probably more like myself but Tenth doctor is "Brilliant".
Who is your favorite Companion? Donna
Who is your favorite Villain? The green spiky aliens in the End of Time who are not that scary of villains actually.
What is your favorite episode? The End of the World
How excited are you for Series 6? As excited as I can be for not having cable. I keep watching the bonus teasers for "The Impossible Astronaut" on bbcamerica.com/doctor who, seeing Rory get lunch in NYC, and making a colorable TARDIS pattern which you can find somewhere in the large graphics thread. The good thing is I know there's always another episode to watch even if I have to wait a year, so the end of the series really doesn't feel like the end.
I'm reposting my TARDIS pattern here. Okay, okay, I admit I'm really quite proud of it.
A Colorable Paper TARDIS Pattern:

The writing on the door:

Pages must be printed on the "exact size" setting or the one inch/centimeter marks must correspond accurately to all three pages.

If you want to put bases on the figurines so they can stand upright, you should not cut off the paper immediately under their feet.
1st, cut out the TARDIS sides and glue them together.
2nd, cut out the first roof and fold the side flaps down, gluing them to the interior.
3rd, cut out the 2nd and 3rd roofs, making two downward folds on each side to so each will stand above the underlying roof.
4th, do the same with each plackard as you did with the latter roofs.
5th, bend the base so that it has one horizontal side, four diagonal, and four vertical sides, then glue to the three non-door sides of the TARDIS.
6th, fold and glue the lamp together carefully. The lamp in the photo is a cylinder with a four pointed roof.
Lastly, if you want to make the characters able to stand upright, you should cut two flaps in the space underneath the character's feet and cut out a base to glue the flaps to.
I also included Lewis and Tolkien figurines!
This is a good pattern if you have younger brothers or sisters that are looking for an interesting activity over the summer and is also good for people who like making models or visualizing their fanfictions. The artist is not responsible for misuse of the pattern.
Have Fun!

Oh, this episode. Why must you keep doing this to me, show?
That said, Amy chopping the Handbots heads off and Rory smashing the Mona Lisa on one was pretty awesome. Can definitely see where River gets it from.
"The Girl Who Waited" was a really good episode in concept and innovative ideas of shooting it....loved the sci-fi vibe in this episode

Oh, wow. This episode was just ....
Favorite Quote: "You know when sometimes you meet someone so beautiful - and then you actually talk to them and five minutes later they're as dull as a brick; but then there's other people. And you meet them and you think, 'Not bad, they're okay,' and when you get to know them .... their face just, sort of, becomes them, like their personality's written all over it, and they just - they turn into something so beautiful. Rory's the most beautiful man I've ever met."
I completely agree. I want a Rory.
The ending line was so frustrating! I really hope they expand on that in a later episode. I so want to know how Rory explained why they left Old!Amy behind.
If anyone is still an Eleven/Amy fan after this episode, they are absolutely crazy.
Young!Amy: "You're Amy. He's Rory. And oh yes I am."

SpoilerOne thing I didn't get was how Amy had to avoid being injected with kindness medicine and how Rory got zapped but then carried on like it wasn't any danger to him? Another idea they could have built some suspense on......
P.S."Brooklyn!"
I finally had a chance to watch "The Girl Who Waited" -
Good episode! I agree with many of the thoughts here...it could have been a little longer, with more details of Amy's trials alone, or Rory's rescue attempts.
Still, like Bookwyrm, I liked seeing Amy and Rory's conversation through the TARDIS door near the end - and the fact that they're really, truly in love with each other...that their devotion to each other trumps the novelty of having a Time Lord around. I really hope for a 'happily ever after' for them.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
I was watching The Girl Who Waited and I realized something that's been bugging me. There's not really been (guess I'll stick it in spoilers, but it's not episode detail spoilers)...
I know there have been a handful of episodes that have a historical figure, but they haven't been more than an after thought since the Winston Churchill episode.
I recently started watching Torchwood.
. . .
Yeah.
So far though, I'm really enjoying it. It's much darker and more complex than Doctor Who. Definitely not for families. There's a LOT of thematic material, blood/violence, sexual references (though not as overt as I thought they would be overall, a few episodes have sexual scenes that are surprisingly explicit for TV), and language (F-bombs in pretty much every episode, which surprised me when I first heard it).
That said, I find it a little refreshingly brutal. As in, when characters die it's very, very emotional as opposed to the sometimes unsatisfying gloss-over a lot of the characters on Doctor Who get when they die. There is a lot of blood-loss when a character is injured (but I find it more realistic than horror-film gore). And the characters are very complex and not all good, but very, very human. I've just started the second season now. I'm not sure if I'd recommend it to anyone on here, but if you're mature enough to handle R-rated Doctor Who-ish stuff then I'd suggest you at least check it out and see what you think.
P.S."Brooklyn!"
