What part of the world are you from? If you want to list your location in more detail (like a specific country or state), post it below.
Australasia is a region of Oceania: Australia, New Zealand, the island of New Guinea, and neighboring islands in the Pacific Ocean.
I'm from the United States.
I am from the continent of North America, in the country of the United States of America, and in the fine state of 11,842 lakes, AKA Minnesota.
I live in the province of Ontario (formerly Upper Canada), The Dominion of Canada, British North America, The British Empire, The World, The Universe. That pretty much sums it up.
Dear days of old, with the faces in the firelight,
Kind folks of old, you come again no more.

It appears that all 5 NWebbers are from North America. I just knew it!

Sorry AitB, can't believe I forgot about Africa! Fixed the poll now.
Born and raised in the Southeast of the United States.
Great idea for a poll, MfA!
North America, more specifically the USA, even more specifically New York State.
A few pet peeves/fun facts:
-I am NOT from New York City
-New York City is NOT the capital of NY, that would be Albany
-NY is the home of Adirondack State Park, the largest park in the lower 48. It's 5.8 Million acres.
-Our state bird is the Eastern Bluebird
"The mountains are calling and I must go, and I will work on while I can, studying incessantly." -John Muir
"Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed." -Richard Adams, Watership Down
Thanks for clearing that up, wolfloversk, I'm from NJ (but I was born in NY) and it bothers me when people think New York= New York City and that NYC is the capital of NY.
I know Jersey has a kinda a bad rep, but it's a great state to live in!
Some facts/myths I want to clear up/reasons why I love NJ:
1. There's always good pizza and bagels. There's a lot of Italians here so basically any pizza place you go to has real pizza.
2. No one says "Joisey". People say "wuhter" and "tawk", but I really don't now where the "Joisey" thing started.
3. Famous people are from Jersey, like Ashley Tisdale, Bruce Springsteen, and Abbott and Costello!
4. If you are flying into Newark Airport, you might not understand why it's the "garden state", but that's just Newark and Elizabeth. The rest of the state has a ton of trees and farms.
5. Yes, people are crazy drivers, but we're all used to it so it doesn't seem crazy to us. And I prefer the word "intense" to "crazy".
6. No one fist pumps or tans like crazy or does any of the stuff on the Jersey shore.
I live in Australia so Australasia.
I'm from the great USA, specifically New Hampshire

No problem, Mfa! Thanks!
Since everyone's doing it, why I love Kenya:
1. Savannahs, wildlife, so many beautiful things to do and see! There are such lovely wildlife preserves where you can drive through and see lions, zebras, wildebeest, and giraffes in their natural habitat. And there are ostritch/alligator farms where you can see wildlife, feed giraffe, and ride camels. <3
2. The city is beautiful.
3. The food! And the culture and people.
For Indian, I love Indian food. I like some of Indian culture, and some outfits are very picturesque.
Why I love IL:
1. We have the best pizza, try as NY pizzas might want to compete. I'm biased. But it's true.
2. We have the best hot dogs. Try as NY hot dogs might want to compete. I'm biased. But it's true.
3. I love the prarie fields. IL so, so beautiful with little quaint farm houses and stretching fields with horses or cows (in the country) or vast cornfields. And yet there's still one of the largest cities in the U.S.

I'm from The US. Born and raised.

The US, specifically Alaska.
Some pet peeves:
1. Alaska is not "down there by Hawaii/Mexico". That's due to stupid maps. We are way up north in between Canada and Russia.
2. No, I can't see Russia from my house. Although, if you stand on Little Diomede Island you can see Big Diomede Island. Little belongs to Alaska, Big belongs to Russia. They're very close together, both situated in the Bering Strait.
3. Alaska is twice as big as Texas.
4. If you visit Anchorage, you haven't really seen Alaska. It's a joke among everyone (except the ones who live in Anchorage ) that "the nice thing about Anchorage is that it's only an hour away from Alaska".
5. We have more coastline than the rest of the US put together.
6. Seventeen of the twenty highest peaks in the US are in Alaska.
7. Alaska is the Northernmost, Westernmost, and Easternmost state (due to part of the Aleutian chain being in the Eastern hemisphere)
8. People like to talk about California having tons of earthquakes. However, Alaska has lots more. Alaska has 52% of all the earthquakes in the US, 11% of the earthquakes in the world, three of the six largest quakes in recorded history, and seven of the ten largest quakes in the US.
I put North America. To be specific: the state of IL in the USA.
And while we're on the subject of clearing up popular misconceptions:
1) I hate it when people hear that one lives in IL and just assumes you live in Chicago. NOT ALL ILLINOINS (sp?) LIVE THERE! Personally, I'm in the southwestern part of the state... hours and hours away from there. Sorry for the outburst, it's just rather annoying.
2) Not all people that live in IL like the Chicago teams. Some of us prefer the St. Louis ones, like the Cardinals and Blues.
