I'm not a reptile person in general, but one of my friends wants to be a herpetologist. . . so I'm connected to people who do like reptiles. If I had to pick a favourite snake, it would probably be the Asian Vine Snake:

Or the flying snake:

Both of which have really cool physiological traits.

I remember hearing a rattle snake when I went to Arizona, but that was a little scary.

I live in Arizona and we have gotten baby rattle snakes in our house before! Under our couch, three in our bathroom and not to long ago me and my sister were sweeping her room and we smelled this awful smell like something was dead. We looked around and we still didn't know where the smell was coming from.
I went to go pick up my shoe and there was a dead baby rattle snake right by it! God has really kept us safe from snakes! :)

I like snakes as long as I'm at a safe distence. ;)

One of my favorite snakes are Side Winders

I really like the Designs they leave in the sand:

The albino snake was cute!
And the two-headed snake was really neat. At this museum that we sometimes go to, they have a two-headed turtle. It-or they, since its technically two turtles in one shell-is very cute. Its a Yellow-Bellied Slider.
I've seen a few snakes in the wild before--mainly black snakes, though once I saw a little corn snake sunning itself. One time we were at this camping place that had a little nature museum, and one of the corn snakes had crawled into the park ranger's pocket and gone to sleep.

Awww, I love penguins!
I saw some at SeaWorld once, but that was over ten years ago.

Penguins are cute! I love watching them swim through the water. They look kind of like mini-torpedoes! I also love otters. They look so adorable when they are swimming!

As a bird lover, I also think penguins are interesting creatures, but I very rarely think of them as "birds." I personally think that they look more like seals than birds ;)).

You actually have a good point Digs, we're so used to the idea of birds flying but there are a bunch that don't... penguins, emus, cassowaries (sp?), ostriches, kiwis...

But a bird is a bird is a bird whether it can fly or not ;)

A much cooler bird is the pitohui (pronounced Pit-Oh-Wee)

The pitohui is one of natures only poisonous birds. They derrive the same manner in which poison dart frogs do; by eating highly toxic insects, and incorporating the toxins of the bugs into their skin.

They are so toxic that the natives of Papua New Guinea (where the birds live) used their skin to coat their arrow-heads.

That's intense! Haha, I would NOT like that. I hear that scorpions can get into houses down there too, my cousin used to live there and she got stung a few times.

yeah, penguins are very cute! On the other end of the spectrum, I think Anglerfish are probably the ugliest/creepiest animals lol

Digory, This may sound kind of strange, but I did not know that there were such things as poisonous birds! Thanks for sharing that:) You learn something new everyday.

Wow, Digory...I had no idea there were poisonous birds! Amazing!!
My favorite birds are swans...especially trumpeter swans! They're so elegant and regal, and they are wonderful parents. Even a fox is no match for them! And they are also mates for life.

So today I went outside to take pictures and I ran across some tracks... I'm not sure what they are of Muskrat maybe? and though snow was melting but I figured I'd see if any of you know. These were taken in Oswego, NY very close to the Lake Ontario shore. The small one was about an inch long and the bigger one was about 2 in.

I had taken one of the whole trail, but I forgot to save it on my camera so I don't have that one :( If they are still there later I'll try to take more...

Any ideas? Whatever it is, it's mammalian, I know that.
