We've went through I think 3 different PS2s in our life, the first lasted a while, but then the others died really quickly. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? I'd say it could be that fact that we use them hard, but I don't think we do, we've had the same Ninetndo 64 & PS1 since they first came out. :p And we've had that same GameCube, but I think it's on it's way out...

Oh, that's good to know, ILF. I only have one or two games, but they're Narnia, and I play LWW for nostalgia, so I wouldn't want to lose them. ;))

I'll check out the link, thanks!

Wow, that's interesting, AC.... I have not had that problem. The only thing that happened to my PS2 is that one controller has the right key on the top broken. But then again, I only used it about twice a year, at most. :P

My sister bought The Last of Us on Sunday. That in itself is noteworthy, as you can count the number of video games this particular sister plays on one hand. Apparently my brother showed her enough promotional clips to get her into it -- and she did like the Uncharted games, so that probably helped.

Anyway, i have no idea how far into it i am, but i am ... more or less enjoying it. The most annoying feature is that, like in the Uncharted games, you can't save whenever you want but only at certain checkpoints: which means that if you're in a place with a bunch of enemies, kill 90% of them and then die, you have to start over from the beginning of the sequence. I had to take a break from the game early-ish on for that reason, but since then i guess i've adapted because it's a lot harder to put down. :P

I'm listening to the soundtrack right now. It doesn't stand out, but it's very good all the same.

Another game i'm ... sort-of playing is Dishonored. I say "sort-of" because i was playing it pretty regularly and then stopped, because i got spoilered about the ending and it depressed me. I'll probably get back around to it eventually. Haven't seen it mentioned on here at all before, though, has anyone else played it or have any interest in it?

we have had our ps2 since near the release and it never died but we don't use it at all anymore.

Wow I have a lot to catch up on, I've been so busy!!! :-o :-o :(

First I apologize for the late response Shadowlander!

Ah well....I have completed Bioshock, Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, and Dead Space. I'm pretty close to polishing off Mass Effect, and I only need my brother to borrow me his copy again so I can do so. :D

But those games are very, very time consuming, much more then other games.
I got Bioshock for free with my copy of Bioshock: infinite but I won't even play it because those trophies scared me and my sister, and I had seen enough of the game with my cousins LOL.
Congrats for finishing those, that is quite a feat!

There is going to be a ratchet and clank movie apparently not sure how that will go but that's an interesting piece of information.

I saw that too! It seems like they are staying true to the story and characters, and Insomniac the creators of Ratchet and Clank Series are involved, so unlike most video game movies I have some hope for it. :)

So, I have a question for you all. We have a PS2 and are thinking about trying out some more games, but most that we're interested in are for PS3, so we are considering upgrading. But I was wondering, are PS2 games compatible on the PS3?

The List that IloveFauns posted it a great way to see what games are available!

Not sure if this also will help but The original launch PS3 can play PS2 games, it looks like this:

The PS3 Slim does not play PS2 games, the slim looks like this:

I'm not sure which PS2 you have, but there is also the PS2 Slim:

I'm not sure how many PS2 Games you have but they have a lot of PS2 games you can buy on the PlayStation Network Store that will download the game in digital format onto your PS3 for you to play, so if you want the PS3 Slim there is also this option.

I highly recommend the PS3 it has really amazing games (Uncharted, The Last of Us, Journey, LittleBigPlanet, and a lot more), if you want to get a PS3 you may also want to wait a few more months, I have feeling that sony will lower the price of the PS3 when the PS4 launches later this year. Just a thought, hope this helps! :)

Apparently my brother showed her enough promotional clips to get her into it -- and she did like the Uncharted games, so that probably helped

Awesome! :D Glad to hear you got the Last of Us! Your sister has good taste. ;)

What part are you at?

Maybe it's just me, but I have never been annoyed by any of the checkpoints in either Uncharted or The Last of Us. Me and my sister actually always said we love were they place their checkpoints. But wow if you think that is bad, don't even get me started on Jak 2! There were no such things as checkpoints, you start the level completely over even if you got to the very end, I mean the whole level, and they were not short. LOL.

If you want any tips or advice, feel free to ask! I'll be more then happy to help! :D

I'm listening to the soundtrack right now. It doesn't stand out, but it's very good all the same.

I Love the soundtrack! The whole soundtrack is only about an hour long, but Naughty Dog wanted to focus a lot on the actual sounds you encounter in the game, or the silence itself They were inspired by films like No Country for Old Men.

I Got The Last of Us at midnight when it was released, me and my sister played it until 8am, and then woke back up and didn't finish until we beat it!!!!
I can't even begin to say how Amazing it is!!!!! I LOVED IT!!!!!! Naughty Dog never fails to deliver such amazing story driven games! Bravo to Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann, Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson! :D
I highly recommend this game to anyone who can play it (Like I would highly recommend Uncharted!).
I hope so much that Naughty Dog will announce Uncharted 4 at the VGA's this year! I think it would be so awesome if they won the Best Game of the Year award (in my opinion they totally deserve it) and announced Uncharted 4 in the same night!!!!! :D

I finished it a couple days ago, actually, and started up the "game plus" option where you play on the same setting but with all the upgrades you had at the end of the previous game. Just run into Bill on the second playthrough .. he's quite the character. ;))

What did you think of the ending? My dad, who didn't play it but has been watching us at times and knows more or less the whole story, my sister, and i have been discussing it - and now a bit with my brother, since he's finished it too.

Spoiler
The problem i have is that the Fireflies didn't ask for Ellie's permission beforehand. I think if they had asked, she would have said yes to the surgery, though i'm not sure if she would have been able to convince Joel to go along with it. The fact that they didn't, though, and were going ahead with the surgery right away limited Joel's options -- not that i think he would have been inclined toward the diplomatic approach anyway.

Basically my conclusion is the Fireflies moved too fast, without considering the costs/benefits ("the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few", but if the one has no value then you take away the basis for the value of the many), the logistics of manufacturing and distributing a vaccine, and most importantly taking Ellie's own desires into account. Asking Ellie may or may not have changed the outcome, but it makes Joel's reaction at least a little more justified (not sure i can completely justify things like killing the people in the OR, as they posed no real threat to him, or shooting Marlene in the head).

Yes, that is exactly my thoughts on the ending as well!

Are you planning on playing the Single Player DLC when it comes out?
I can't wait to see what characters it will be about, I hope its more Joel and Ellie, but I thought it might be sort of cool if you could be

Did you play the game on Survivor difficulty? That was a fun challenge, you get hardly any ammo or supplies, so it makes it really tense in different scenarios. :)

No, i'm still on Easy. ;)) Mostly because i'm using the "game plus" option. I plan on working my way up to Survivor eventually.

Spoiler
So you really can not-kill the other doctors? I'll have to get that a, er, "shot". ;)

I've watched several people on youtube play the game's intro just to see their reactions; not sure, but i think that might make me a horrible person ;)). I was surprised

Spoiler
so few people realized Sarah wasn't going to make it out of the intro alive; from the minute i saw her i knew she was doomed.

I'm also guilty of doing this, LOL! It's interesting

How do you like it? I have the Playstation Eye/Move, I've found over the past few years I'm more of a sitting gamer. I like to sit comfortably when I play games LOL.
But I do enjoy having some Move games to change things up a bit every so often. :)

This is Kinect Adventures, or some such. It's a lot of fun, but a real workout, especially when you're an old fatso like I am ;)). Even so it was a much needed workout and I even unlocked a few Achievements along the way. Also I've discovered my hand-eye coordination is about as good as a log's.

@Shadowlander: Sounds fun!
LOL, yeah since I got the Eye/Move I've come to realize just how much I love my chair. :p I have two move games I need to complete for Trophies, and if there is one thing that will motivate me to Move, it's Trophies. ;)

Anyone able to help? Thanks.

Maybe the saved data is corrupted.
You could try and delete your current file, and try installing the game again.
You also might want to make sure you are logged in as an administrator or the right user you installed the game with.
Let me know if that helps, I can try to think of something else that will hopefully help should that not be the problem.
