All you have to do is believe that Jesus died for you! It's personal! The blood of the cross of Jesus Christ has set you free! The debt of sin is paid! You are forgiven of your sins! By faith in Christ and His blood, you are justified [declared righteous]! [Acts 13:39, Romans 5:1, 9] The just shall live by faith! [Habakkuk 2:4, Romans 1:17] On the cross, Jesus said, "It is finished" [John 19]. In Greek, this is tetelestai = a shout of victory!

I was looking at this one the other day, and I told my dad about it.

I love this whole passage because it speaks of the incredible love and mercy of God towards His rebellious and idolatrous children like me. I found it especially potent today.

John 3:16 (NIV)- "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

This is kind of creepy. Those verses were featured in a song at church this weekend. I was thinking of asking about it in the Christianity thread. What does the word "joy" refer to in this passage? The singer at church said that it was us and it should almost be capitalized as a proper noun. Is that right?
