These are great verses, and thanks for sharing them :). But please remember we need to keep it at one verse/passage per day. If you come to this thread and someone else has already posted a verse for the day, come back to post yours tomorrow. Thank you! :)

In honor of the anniversary of Luther's posting of the 95 Theses, I thought I'd post these verses that greatly influenced him.

Ephesians 2:8-10 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
8For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; 9not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Thanks for honoring Luther's 95 theses [instead of Halloween], Pattertwig. :D [Curious: what about Romans 1:17? ;) ]

The pastor preached on Psalm 34 this morning, as part of a series on worship. And I had to memorize verses 8-19 as a child. So this is definitely a favorite psalm! :)

Psalm 34:1-3, KJV ~
1I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
3O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

I believe the verse you're thinking of, Tirian12, is I Corinthians 15:26. :) (Btw, that BibleGateway.com site is a wonderful online resource.)

I didn't say they were the only verses that influenced him. ;) I didn't have time to look up a lot of verses. I wanted to make sure I got the idea of saved by grace through faith. :)

(Btw, that BibleGateway.com site is a wonderful online resource.)

It is. I use it all the time since I discovered it by clicking on a linked verse in a post by someone on NarniaWeb. :)

Here's a verse for today. :)
The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.
Proverbs 18:10

Proverbs is one of my favorite books.

1 Peter 4:12-14, NKJV ~
Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. :)

I found these verses when I was looking up suggested readings that came with a Bible study.
Romans 10:11-13
11As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."[e] 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."[f]

Ben, I thought it was a good topic as well. I remembered it from the old Forum and really enjoyed it.

But there can only be one verse per day. That way we can read a verse for that particular day and contemplate that verse, rather than trying to stuff two or three inside. :)

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Indeed, the only real strength that we ever will find is in the Lord.
This verse reminds me of another one; Psalm 20:7. :)

~Psalm 139:14-18~

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.
How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them!
If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand;
When I awake, I am still with You.
