I love that verse too, PELS!
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." ~ Matthew 6:19-21, NKJV
God used this passage Sunday morning to pierce my heart. And I'm so glad He did! Jesus is our treasure, our precious jewel! We must fix our eyes on Him and seek Him with all our heart and soul!
My favorite Bible verse(s):
James 4:14-15
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we shall live and do this or that."
It's so simple, but so powerful!
"To know the road ahead, ask those coming back."
"Live as if your were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."
Wow, that is powerful. Nothing can change God's will. It's so comforting to know that He is in control!!!

"Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise [gain] of it is better than the merchandise [profit] of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared with her." ~ Proverbs 3:13-15
Who is wisdom in Proverbs? Jesus Christ! And He truly is "more precious than" silver, gold, or rubies!
♫ Lord, You are more precious than silver
Lord, You are more costly than gold
Lord, You are more beautiful than diamonds
And nothing I desire compares with You ♫
I thought today I'd post a short devotion.
Yet therefore will the Lord wait, that he may have mercy upon you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have compassion upon you: for the Lord is the God of judgment. Blessed are all that wait for him. -Isaiah 30:18
The greenest grass is found wherever the most rain falls. So I suppose it is the fog and mist of Ireland that makes it "the Emerald Isle." And wherever you find the widespread fog of trouble and the mist of sorrow, you always find emerald green hearts that are full of the beautiful foliage of the comfort and love of God.
Dear Christian, do not say, "Where are all the swallows? They are all gone--they are dead." No, they are not dead. They have simply skimmed across the deep, blue sea, flying to a faraway land; but they will be back again soon.
Child of God, do not say, "All the flowers are dead--the winter has killed them, so they are gone." No! Although the winter has covered them with a white coat of snow, they will push up their heads again and will be alive very soon.
O believer, do not say that the sun has burned out, just because a cloud has hidden it. No, it it is still there, planning a summer for you; for when it shines again, it will have caused those clouds to have dropped their April showers, each of them a mother to a sweet mayflower.
Above all, remember--when God hides His face from you, do not say that He has forgotten you. He is simply waiting for a little while to make you love Him more. And once He comes you will rejoice with the inexpressible "joy of the Lord" (Nehemiah 8:10). Waiting on Him exercises your gift of grace and tests your faith. Therefore continue to wait in hope, for although the promise may linger, it will never come too late. -Charles H. Spurgeon.

"Argue against God & you argue against the power that makes you able to argue at all." -C.S. Lewis
Beautiful devotion, PELS! I love Spurgeon! Thank you!
My favorite part: "Above all, remember--when God hides His face from you, do not say that He has forgotten you. He is simply waiting for a little while to make you love Him more. And once He comes you will rejoice with the inexpressible "joy of the Lord" (Nehemiah 8:10). Waiting on Him exercises your gift of grace and tests your faith. "Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity." Psalm 37:1
Short, I know. But very meaningful. Here is a short video of a band called Hillsong United, it is VERY powerful. (Be sure your speakers are blasting! )

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not comformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. ~Romans 12:1-2
In other men we faults can spy, And blame the mote that dims the eye; Each little speck and blemish find; To our own stronger errors blind. -Benjamin Franklin
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your mind in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

Some of my current favorites. (More than one I guess..)
Proverbs 4:23
"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."
Psalm 27:4
"One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple."
Jeremiah 29:13
"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
These are some of my favorites, too! Thanks for sharing!
Ephesians 6:10-18
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
TheGeneral: love your avie and sig!
Thanks .
I've always liked Psalms,
"I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live"
Psalm 116:1-2
TheGeneral: We're aiming for one verse or passage per day.
Yesterday morning in church I arrived when the congregation started singing "He knows my name." And I was really touched, awed, amazed by Jesus' love and care for me. It was overwhelming. It's like I was hearing the song for the first time, even though it's familiar to me. And it made me think of this passage, which God gave me in March of this year.
Isaiah 49:14-16 ~
But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me,
And my Lord has forgotten me.”
Can a woman forget her nursing child,
And not have compassion on the son of her womb?
Surely they may forget,
Yet I will not forget you.
See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands;
Your walls are continually before Me.
this is one of my favorite verses:
"A friend is always loyal, a brother is born to help in time of need."
Proverbs 17:17
NW sister - wild rose ~ NW big sis - ramagut
Born in the water
Take quick to the trees
I want all that You are

These verses really describe me and everything I've gone through in the past year. I read them this afternoon.
"I love the LORD, because He hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because He hath inclined His ear unto me, therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful." -Psalm 116:1-5
This is from a KJV Bible, but I think it's still readable. I'm hoping to get an NLT and/or a NASB soon.
