Hello all! I thought it would be nice to open this thread up again. It is always very encouraging. I'll start with a verse that you all probably know, but it is also very inspiring. I hope to see alot of people writing verses they feel God puts on their hearts.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path." Proverbs 3:5-6

"Argue against God & you argue against the power that makes you able to argue at all." -C.S. Lewis
Great idea to get this going!
Matthew 6:25-33 has REALLY been placed on my heart a lot this past week. Here are verses 31-33, which kinda sum them all up:
So do not worry and say, 'What are we to eat?' or 'What are we to drink?' or 'What are we to wear?' All these things the pagans seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom (of God) and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. ~Matthew 6:31-33
"I have been asked by Aslan HIMSELF to gather more troops."
Very good verse, Narnian_Storm!
Here's another verse for the day. Feel free to post more if you wish!
"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." -Ephesians 4:29
I know this is kind of off topic, but last night my three year old niece got Jesus in her heart. I'm so excited!

Great thread, PELS! I'm so happy for your niece!
This passage has been on my heart since last Wednesday...
"Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation." - Psalm 24:3-5
Great verse, AslansLily 220chrisTian!
"If His people, which are called by His name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek His face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will they hear from heaven, and be forgiven of their sin, and He will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14
I love this verse, it's so promising! It's really comforting, especially with the world as it is.

Great verse,

LOL!
Yes, 2 Chronicles 7:14 is a comforting verse! Through it, God gives us hope! And what do we hope in? His mercy!
Psalm 130 "If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared."
(I believe someone mentioned we could post more then one a day so...)
Here's a verse I've always had to think about when I was sad over something very little-- it's so easy to be depressed and sad, and.. there's usually almost no reason to be!!
So I really love this verse.
Psalm 42:5
Why are you cast down, O my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him
For the help of His countenance.
(Bold added by me for extra emphasis)
Indeed, God is the only "thing" that will never fail us; and we can only put our hope completely in Him!!!

Hi Verse of the Day posters!
In discussing this thread with another mod (and a very special topic it is) we would like to go back to the original idea of one verse or short passage per day, making each one that much more special as it would be our sole focus for that particular day. So once someone posts a verse for one day, please wait until the following day to post another. 'Though certainly comments on verses may be made. Sounds good?
Queen Susan, that Psalm verse you posted above has meant so much to me lately. And I really appreciate what 220 said about God's mercy being the reason we have such hope in Him as His children. EDIT Oct. 9: And I would add to that "as well as His great faithfulness".
Todd, good to see you here too!
Thanks for opening this, Pebbles, and how exciting about your little niece!

I like that idea, Aunty Jo.

Nice verse, PELS! My eyes lighted on it Thursday nite!
I can't get this verse out of my head. I've been dwelling on it for a day or two.
"But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you." ~ Romans 8:11, KJV
Do you know what this means? The Spirit of God that raised up Jesus from the dead DWELLS in us! All things are possible!
Yeah--that blows me away. God wants to pull us into such intimacy with Him that He puts His own Spirit inside us. It's mind-blowing.
I love this whole chapter, but these verses especially:
God told them, "I've never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love, and more love! And so now I'll start over with you and build you up again, dear virgin Israel....Oh! Ephraim is my dear, dear son, my child in whom I take pleasure! Every time I mention his name, my heart bursts with longing for him! Everything in me cries out for him. Softly and tenderly I wait for him." Jeremiah 31: 3-4, 20, The Message
He loves us so much. To make it more personal, I substitute my name in for Ephraim and such, when I read it. It's so awe-inspiring. It helps me to remember that God isn't, as my Bible teacher says, just a chess master. He's a chess master with a heart, who loves each one of us simply because of who we are. That's why the Bible says not to break God's heart--He offers it to us so willingly. Incredible. Can you tell I'm stuck on God's love right now?
This is your start/This is your heart/This is the place you were born
This is your sun/These are your lungs/This is the place you were born
And I am always, always, always/Yours

I couldn't decided which version to post so I posted three different ones. I posted verses 21-23 to give background for verse 24.
Mark 9:21-24
New International Version (NIV)
21Jesus asked the boy's father, "How long has he been like this?" "From childhood," he answered. 22"It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us." 23" 'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes." 24Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
21And He asked his father, "How long has this been happening to him?" And he said, "From childhood. 22"It has often thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, take pity on us and help us!"
23And Jesus said to him, " 'If You can?' (A)All things are possible to him who believes." 24Immediately the boy's father cried out and said, "I do believe; help my unbelief."
Amplified Bible (AMP)
21And [Jesus] asked his father, How long has he had this? And he answered, From the time he was a little boy. 22And it has often thrown him both into fire and into water, intending to kill him. But if You can do anything, do have pity on us and help us. 23And Jesus said, [You say to Me], If You can do anything? [Why,] all things can be (are possible) to him who believes! 24At once the father of the boy gave [an [a]eager, piercing, inarticulate] cry with tears, and he said, Lord, I believe! [Constantly] help my [c]weakness of faith!
Verse 24 has been in my mind for the past several days. At first it seems contradictory, but I have been feeling a lot like that lately (knowing that God has a plan for my life but at the same time wondering about it since it is not visible to me).

These are my life verses, and i think that it can encourage anyone to say "yes" to what God wants in their life. This is from the KJV
" Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me... Then said I, Lord how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be utterly desolate."
Isaiah 6:8,11
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
Romans 1:16

Concerning Romans 1:16; Indeed, we can not be ashamed of the gospel of Christ! The pastor from our church has talked a bit on that lately, and really, it's so true! We can not be the least bit "embarrassed" about any part of Scripture! It's God's Word!
