Oh, I'm so proud of them too. It's really awesome to see them doing so well!! I saw the last half of the game yesterday (had to go out to lunch with my family, including my uncle who's visiting from Germany, ironically :P) and was cheering like a maniac. :D

Though I haven't seen any of the games, :p I've heard about them. And I've been cheering for the Netherlands all the way. (Maybe since all my ancestors were Dutch?) ;) Anyways.

My brother said, "If Germany wins, we'll have a replay later of WWII, if Spain wins, we'll have a replay of the Dutch War for Independence!"
(Um.... yeah. :p It's not quite like that.) ;)) It's not quite a war. :p

Oh my gosh!! Spain beat Germany. :D

So the official final is between Spain and Netherlands. I do hope that Spain will be victorious. *cheer*

What?!? Spain?!? ^

I'm rather sad Germany lost. Mostly since I have part German friends, and it'd be more fun to have more "competition with them." :p But oh well.

I don't know much about soccerball, but I think I'll root for the orange dudes because I like orange. Plus, Spain food gives me rumblies in my intestinalies. And I hate Paul the Octopus.

Really Minotaur? You've been following the cup from the beginning, so I don't believe you that you don't know much about soccer.

I'm so proud of Spain for getting this far. Sure, that game with Germany was totally boring, but they still advanced. Both Spain and I kept waiting for a German counter attack that never came.

LOL. Paul the Octopus is one of the more interesting things I learned this World Cup. ;))

I don't think that any of these future seeing animals mean anything. It is interesing that two of those animals, Paul the Octopus (did you know that the thing got death threats) and some paraot disagree on who the chaimpion will be. Both have "predicted" right every time. Go Netherlands! Go!
I am still sad that the USA lost.

No, no, Paul the Octopus is the only reliable animal to predict the outcome of the final, and has chosen Spain, so we are going to win. ;)
I have never been one to follow football much, but, really, I am so proud of what Spain has done. It's the first time we get so far in a World Cup, so there's going to be a celebration just for that. But I hope they win, I think they deserve it.
Here in Spain everyone is so excited about this evening, there are flags everywhere, people wearing the Spanish colours... I am enjoying the expectation immensely. Go Spain! :)

Congratulations Amira! I love the Spanish national side and I've been rooting for them since the EuroCup, but I'm sure that my investment in them is nothing compared to the way you and your countrymen are feeling today. Maybe you can answer a question for me? Why do they wear blue? The flag is red and yellow, but they have odd blue shorts. I actually prefer the navy blue uniforms, but I don't know why blue is considered a Spanish national color.

Today's the day, if they play like they can and don't let the Netherlands mess up their game, they'll win.

Thanks for your support, Kate. Yeah, today's the day. To answer your question, I really don't think there is a specific reason they have chosen blue, other times they have worn white. I know that they can't wear the usual red because the Dutch uniform is orange and Spain are the visitors.
The match is about to start! We are so excited and nervous right now!

I hope Spain wins. My father has waited all his life to see Spain win. Spain has never made it past 4th place.

Those of you rooting for the Netherlands, no offense, but I truly wish Spain wins.

EDIT- Spain won! Yes!

VICTORY!!

Oh my goodness. My eardrums almost burst being in a room full of about 70 Spain fans. ;)) Crazy, crazy game. Wow.

PR! WE WON! We won! We won! We won!!

That has to be one of the ugliest soccer games I've ever seen. So many yellow cards! It wasn't very pretty or very exciting, but Iniesta and Casillas save the day as the Orange go down in a sea of yellow.

This is all I really came here to say:
