So sorry for my incorrect assumption, thephfactor1.
I'd not heard 'handegg' either. I like it too.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
You're fine... 75% of the people I know consider "football" to be of the variety you play with helmets and pads and offense and defense etc.
I may or may not have just been trying to squeeze "handegg" into the conversation.
The regular season baseball is nearly over, who else's favorite team is going to the postseason?
My favorite team, the Dodgers, is playing in the postseason for the first time since 2009. While I would've rather they clinched without such a massive payroll (I feel like the franchise has become many of the things I hated about the Yankees), I can't complain about success.
I am also very glad for the Pirates that they got to win the Wild Card game so that they'll have a real postseason series for the first time in 21 years. The single elimination Wild Card game is just brutal.
I have a minimal interest in sport. I have never been able to get excited while watching it. I usually drift off into a day dream. AFL(Australian rules football) especially. The final was last weekend, everyone was going crazy.
The Cardinals won! They tied the series 2-2 and it's back to Busch Stadium for game 5! Great pitching by Michael Wacha, and the bullpen.
GO CARDINALS!!!!

The St. Louis CARDINALS are NL CHAMPIONS! Once again Michael Wacha pitched extremely well and now the Cardinals are head to the World Series! I'm so excited! But I am sure nobody would have guess that.
In the world of college football, the Mizzou Tigers (14) beat the the Florida Gators (22) 36-17 and that was with the red shirt freshman backup quarterback, Maty Mauk, starting his first game. The Tigers are 3-0 in the SEC and are alone atop the SEC East. Next week, they play South Carolina in Columbia, MO.
It has been a great weekend thus far, the KC Chiefs (who are 6-0) have to beat the Texans tomorrow to make it a perfect sports weekend.

Well the world series mach up is set Boston Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals as a baseball fan is nice to see the two best teams in the game is year playing the world series but as a Yankee fan don't wont the Red Sox to win LOL
World Series starts tonight! St. Louis is going to win the series in 6 games I'm calling it now! I'm not even a Cardinal fan, but I HATE Boston.
On a side note - 20 years since the great Joe Carter world-series winning homerun! Its too bad Toronto preformed way below expectation this year.

Don't usually post on this one, but I have to mention a little incident.
Vikings just returned the ball from inside the goal on the opening kick-off within a foot of the back. I believe that is only the second time that has ever been done.
I expect it to be all down hill from here.
Well the Boston Red Sox are the 2013 Wold series champions congrats to them and their fans.
What were the Cardinals thinking trading David Freese to the Angels???? Next year does not as exciting as it had. I think I may have to go drowned my sorrows in a cupcake or two.

If you reckon chess as a sport - the Olympic Committee does - then my greatest sports news is that (fellow Norwegian) Magnus Carlsen is the new chess world champion
He won the championship with the fastest victory for 103 years.
And he's only 22 years old!

I honestly have no idea! I guess he was to old to be part of the Cardinals infield - The oldest current starting infielder is 29. Don't worry the Cardinals have been good, are good, and will remain good, with no end in sight to the pattern because they continue to be so effective not only at developing their own players, but at making trades that fit in with their general philosophy.
And then there are my Blue Jays...

WOW! 103 years?! That's crazy!

I was shocked when I heard Freese was leaving. Another is too, but I didn't recognize the name. Oh, and did you hear Chris Carpenter (aka Carp) has retired from the MLB? My dad seems under the impression that Beltran is leaving too, but I sure hope not! We've already lost, or are in the midst of losing, quite a few players! (first Pujols (sp?) a year or so back. Now Freese, and a few others...)
See... this is why I find it hard to keep our roster straight! It feels like every time I learn the whole thing (or at least know all the big names), and get favourites, somebody (or a couple) leave! It's obnoxious. Oh, well... are the new players we're getting as replacements any good?
....
Also, is it too early to be sick of football? (not that I cared to begin with) I miss baseball, and can never seem to catch the hockey games.
......
Edited to add:

Thanks for that, Impending Doom! It meant a lot, and made me feel better. I'm sure SnowAngel would agree with me.
And wow, Varna, that's cool!

Ditto! I still wish they hadn't trade him though especially to the Angels.
My little brother was so disappointed the Cardinals traded David Freese, he is my little brother's favorite baseball player. Maybe Matt Carpenter or Allen Craig will have to be his new favorite Cardinal.
We are more interested in football at our house right now. The Chiefs have lost three straight games and need to get back on track this week. And my Mizzou Tigers at 11-1 are in the SEC title game! Excited, nervous, can't believe they really made it this year!
