My Broncos lost. But when one player offers two facemask penalties in three plays what can you expect.
Rockies on the other hand are doing thier September thing. They have won 10 straight games and are breathing down the necks of the Giants and Padres for the NL West. The Padres appear to be fading and we will know for certain in the next three days as the Rockies play them in Colorado. While a 13-game win streak is unlikely, seeing the Rockies record against the Padres, I'd say Rockies win at least 2 of 3. The real series is about a week away, against the Giants, also in Colorado. The winner of those series will win the NL West.

Well, the Chiefs won, but it sure was close. The final score was 16-14 over the Browns. And the Chiefs are 2-0 from the first time in years. Hooah!
The Mizzou Tigers are 3-0 after their win against San Diego State. Go Tigers!!! That was a close game as well, with the Tigers scoring in the last minute to take the lead and win the game.
Congrats, FencerforJesus, on your Broncos win.

On a non-pro sport note, I had a very good fencing competition yesterday. I fenced in two events, each with 12 competitors, one in foil, and one in epee. I was pretty decent in the foil, winning three of five bouts in the pool round. I won my first direct elimination bout before getting beat in the quarter-finals. I finished 6th out of 12, which is pretty good for where I was at.
Epee started out the same. I won three of my five bouts again seeding 6th of 12 going into direct elimination. I won my first DE bout easily but then, in spite of being totally exhausted, my game really picked up. I beat my next foe 15-10 taking an early lead without ever losing it. But in semi-finals, I fell 15-9 falling behind early, but keeping pace the rest of the way. Then I fenced off for 3rd place. I fell behind 5-1 but rallied for a 7-5 lead. I kept that lead all the way to a 14-12 lead, when he made the final push to beat me 15-14. I finished 4th out of 12, with me in the top 4 for the first time in a local tournament in two years. I hope its a good sign for what's to come.

Good job on your fencing tournament, Fencer, and good luck in your future bouts!
The Vikings lost again today to fall to 0-2, and Brett Favre has thrown more interceptions these two games than all last year...still, 'tis early in the season.
The Twins also lost at home today, so their magic number remains at 5. After their sweep of the White Sox last week, though, they're still the odds-on favorite to win the AL Central. They want to pick up the pace, though; if they can get the best record in the AL they'll get home field advantage through the first two rounds of the playoffs (the NL has World Series home advantage this season thanks to their win in the All-Star Game). And facing either the Yankees or the Rays, a home field advantage will come in mighty handy.

Well out here on the west coast, we're enjoying the National League West race. I'm a big SF Giants fan, but I go to school in a place that has a mix of Giants, Padres, and Dodgers fans, so it gets competitive. It's exciting for us that the Giants are on top, but only by a half game! I'm pretty sure that the Giants haven't been to the playoffs since they won the pennant in 2002. I would love to see them go through.
The Padres won't make it. Their schedule is too tough and they just don't have the strength they've had to get there where they are at now. The Rockies are the team to watch out for. The series between the Giants and the Rockies this coming weekend is going to say a lot about who wins the NL West. Being a Colorado native, I am rooting for the Rockies.

The NL West and wild-card races are pretty tight. I like to root for the Rockies in the NL, partly because we had a great time attending a game at Mile High Stadium during their inaugural season (during a Rocky Mountain National Park camping trip).
The Twins won the AL Central last night at home with a win over Cleveland, and with today's win they are tied with the Yankees for the most wins in MLB so far. The race continues for that best record and home-field advantage.

I was cursing like a sailor when I watched that game (plus I was quite mad when they lost to the Saints, ugh).
I REALLLY hope they start doing better.
Well it is Packers v.s. Bears tonight. I am so happy that the Packers are going to win. (Come on, you do you honestly think that the Bears could beat them?) I'll be waering a cheese head hat tonight!
God bless the Green Bay Packers!

Boy Scout... we are mortal enemies! Lol. I can't stand the Packers!
The Rockies and Giants series ended with the Giants taking 2 of 3. Rockies, down 4.5 games back with 7 to go are still mathmatically in, but MUST have both Giants and Padres get swept in both thier series this week, while sweeping the Dodgers. Otherwise, it's over for them. The NL West will now hinge on the Giants/Padres season series finale. Sorry, Rockies. It was a good run while it lasted.

I think it's definitely time to get some MLB Playoff discussion going on in here. Just about everyone I know is walking on air right now after the Giants moved on to the playoffs for the first time since I was 12.
Last night they won their first game, so things are off to a very good start!
Who else is watching?
With the Rockies out, I'm only watching it on the side. I was rooting for the Rays and Reds but both those teams appear to be out.
The NHL season has kicked off and my Colorado Avalanche knocked off the defending Stanley Cup champions Chicago Blackhawks on the day they have thier 15th reunion with the players from thier 1996 Cup champion team. That was the first championship that any Denver team brought home and I can safely say you did not want to be out on the Denver streets that night.

I've been watching the MLB playoffs. Alas, though the hometown team has made the playoffs 6 of the last 9 years, they just can't get past the Yankees. Even with home-field advantage in brand-new Target Field, the Twins find themselves down 2 games to none going to the Bronx this weekend.
I have been watching some of the other teams as well, and saw the last few innings of Roy Halladay's no-hitter for the Phillies against Cincinnati the other day. It's only the second no-hitter in MLB playoff history.
Not sure who I'll cheer for should the Twins be eliminated tomorrow...
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
What? No other baseball fans posting?
It's a wild time down in Texas tonight as the Rangers celebrate their first trip to the World Series since the franchise began in 1961. They defeated the defending champion Yankees 6-1 in game 6 of the ALCS at home. Congrats!
Meanwhile, the NLCS returns to Philadelphia tomorrow with the Giants leading 3 games to 2.
