Not only did the rain hold off, but the sun came out just before the race started. Sure was muddy, though.

It was interesting watching the replay, in which they tracked the position of the eventual winner (Super Saver) throughout the entire race.

The guy who won the dream bet contest (who they showed betting $100k before the race began) chose the correct horse and will go back to Houston $900k richer (before taxes).

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Yup it was interesting to watch the replay. Both the horse and the jockey did look relaxed while waiting for the perfect moment to move. I think having an experienced jockey certainly did help the win this time around (for those who didn't watch, the jockey has now won 3 Derbys in the last 4 years, the first jockey ever to do so).

Nice race, but I'm not so sure about the Triple Crown being within Super Saver's reach. Ice Box was gaining ground and likely would have caught Super Saver had the race been longer. The Belmont is a longer race, so we shall see.

Two weeks till the Preakness!

That's counting on Ice Box being entered alongside Super Saver in the Belmont. Anything can happen at this point. But I do see your point. another 1/16 mile and Ice Box might have won.

Yay! Just two weeks!! It'll be a nice break from final exams it will. It is again at 6ish, right?

Looks like post time is 6:05 Eastern for the Preakness. :)

And yeah. For all we know Super Saver may not make the Preakness. I hope he does though.

I think we all want him to make it. I mean, who doesn't want to see a triple crown winner? There's been no winner since 1978 so it's overdue, imo. ;)

True.

Lookin at Lucky and Paddy O'Prado are being aimed at the Preakness. Looks like Ice Box will skip the Preakness. He'll be fresh for the Belmont.

Jewel #2 is up for grabs tomorrow afternoon! This time tomorrow we should know if we have a chance of seeing the first Triple Crown winner in 32 years or if it'll be 33!

Congrats to the Preakness winner, Lookin at Lucky. I happened to catch the race last Saturday (I wasn't at home so didn't have 'control' of the TV ;) ), and was surprised to see the Derby winner, Super Saver, fade in the home stretch.

Maybe there'll be a Triple Crown winner next year...

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
