I had just entered the Tower when they opened the new area - so I got a ticket for a train that might give me time to finish my run if I made it as fast as possible.

It was an amazing run! I chose to make it SB+ only, to maximize the speed, and I have all the side specific traps. I went straight through, messed about a bit between the Rooks, but was ready for the Queen at 110 % amp. Then the Queen and the King at first try, and I threw in my first Chess Master as well for good measure :p (don't know whether he'll ever be so easy to catch again later, and I really wanted the Master Bindings).

Now I believe I have 900 Library points, so when I've done some hunting at the Station and been on my first train ride, I'll probably get a Zurreal Assignment to work on while waiting "at the station" :)

I have to admit, I miss the good ol' days when a new area would release and this thread would get like, three pages of posts in a day. ;))

I think I've learned in the past with the exception of myself and my sister that nobody cares about spoilers. As she rarely reads through here, I'm not gonna bother spoilering stuff. If you do care, poke me and I'll edit my post. ;)

Initial thoughts on the train station!
~I can see that there are still quite a few bugs to be worked out in the new area. My train was supposed to leave the station at 6:00am. However, I didn't sign on til 7:05am. One or more of my teammates were already online and triggered the start, so when I signed in, all of my hunts overnight caught the supply loading mice. That's nice for me but kind of a major bug.
~The teamwork concept is a nice one, but I question if it will backfire in a year or so when everyone has their traps and have moved back to other areas again. Will the people who still need or want to do train rides be able to get full and successful train? I guess you can just sleeper your way through. :P
~This does not appear to be a passive area. I sort of watched my husband do part of his train ride last night and he was constantly having to switch charms. That's a good thing for me, I prefer these areas, but I know that most people don't have the time to sit around and watch their computers that closely.
~HOLY LOADS OF GOLD MOUSEHUNTERS!!!!
~Well, I like the area so far, but perhaps that's just because it's new. ;)) We'll see how I feel about it after a few days.

First train ride progress....
My group so far (me, Bee, Gymmie, and Rebekah) overstocked on supplies at the Supply Depot. ;)) We're currently at 108/93 with less than an hour to go before the train heads out. The train points as a whole are at 1036/3600. I'm looking forward to the next two stages of the train ride. :)

This new area is very confusing for me. . . I don't like it very much.

I plan on finishing up the living garden area before I head back there. I'm so close to being done, and can probably finish it up in less than 2 weeks.

This new area is very confusing for me. . .

Setting up a team was confusing, but once we got rolling on the train I'm having the opposite problem. I'm finding it much too straight forward. (I like a challenge. :P ) Just click the stuff that's highlighted. I haven't seen part 3 at all so I have no idea what to expect there.

Having said that though, I noticed both Ithilwen and my husband were having a lot of issues with bugs last night on their trains, so maybe that happened to you too DiGs. If you need something clarified, just ask, I think I understand it well enough to help you out on the first two train stages. :)

Ditto. I was only there for a couple of minutes, and was already completely lost. Then I got kicked off of my train. ;)) I read the information concerning the new area in the News section, but I had no idea what it was talking about. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it some day. Especially with all of you guys around to ask. By the time I get around to checking out the new area, you guys will probably all be masters at it. For the reasons already mentioned, I'm kind of putting it off right now. ;))

I'm also just having far too much fun in Furoma to hunt anywhere else right now. I've been wanting the Sphinx Wrath for a long time, so I could finally use my Wealth Charms on Sensei mice. And now I finally have the chance. :D I'm hoping it will also get me a bit more gold before the holiday events start (when do they start, by the way?).

Right now, I'm super close to catching my 100th Mojo. And I'm farming Onyx Gorgonzola so that I can finally use those Wealth Charms. Right now I have about 80 Onyx Gorgonzola, and I still have 57 pieces of Rumble cheese to go. B-)

After I've finished with Furoma, and if I'm still putting off the Train Station and event season hasn't started yet, I was thinking of going on two hunting sprees - first for Acolytes, then for Dragons.

I'm posting this from my Nokia, without an app, and with restrictions on graphics - I've never tried mousehunting from it, but I may have to try a login later today because my normal internet access is gone.
I had set myself up for passive playing before signing up on another train, so I'm stuck in Dojo silvering Students (using Brie). Which isn't a bad place to be stuck :)

When I have proper net access again, I think I'l head back to CSC and do more posters to get enough FG for both the new base and a small reserve for train charms. I really wish now that I had had 600 or 700 FG instead of 450.

Then more train rides to farm crafting materials for the new traps. I quite liked the train ride, but then I was on one with no glitches.

It seems the idea is to get as many train points as possible, as well as getting crafting materials for the new traps, and getting charms to use on the train to catch better mice.

The reward at the end is dependent on how well the team did, not so much on well the train did (they are ranked separately).

I'm currently doing a solo 24h train and I'm not doing so hot, lol. Only 11/63 points so far. I should hopefully do better in the last stage since I've got some better charms saved up from the last run. We shall see...I did dreadfully on the first stage; barely any points.

I managed to mousehunt from my old Nokia (at least 7 years old and outdated in many ways) - at least enough to sound the horn once and get another day of trap checks.

Some more Students have been caught, but I guess I haven't silvered any of them yet. Difficult to say as I've disabled graphics, because on this subscription I'm paying per MB :P

Well, I've gotten my last shattering charm! YAY! Now all I need to do is max out my salt meter (I've got 12 more to go) and then hope for the best. I bought some extra course salt off of the marketplace to make sure that I get there in time. I only have 17 pieces of graveblossom left.

Another problem; I have no Ber essences. All of mine were used up in the crafting of the icuri essence needed for my shattering charm.

Any ways. . . we'll see. At the very latest, I'll probably be done with the garden in two or three days. . . but if I'm lucky, I might be done with it tonight :D

I got my net access back :)
I have silvered 2 Students, but now I'm back in the Varmint Valley again. My MH train leaves in just over an hour, and I'm hunting in CSC until then, working on a poster.

I'll be solo on that train, and people say that the 24 hrs trains are the best for solo hunting - you need that much time to reach your goal when nobody else is helping you.
So I'll see how it works out ...

wolf, how is your Zurreal assignment going? I haven't looked at your profile so I was curious if you had completed it and nabbed him yet.

DiGs and Ithilwen, I wanted to point you in the direction of this thread on the MH forums...
https://www.mousehuntgame.com/forum/sho ... Trains-%28
It's a list of the known bugs that they're working on. As far as I know, nobody has been kicked off the train since that first night. I will say this, the most annoying bug is the fact that since I'm on the :00 hourly trap check, if I catch anything on the last hunt before switching to the next part of the train ride, it goes to waste because it's thrown away before it's possible to click on. X( They're working on it...

As to the confusing part, once you've done a train or two, it's really straight forward. :)
Part 1 - Loading the train. You'll want to arm Supply Schedule Charms (located at the top left of the HUD) to try to catch the Warehouse Manager. Once you catch him, you AND YOUR TEAM have 5 hunts each to snag Supply Hoarders. Hope for lots of Crates and load them all as soon as you can! They are removed from your inventory once you move onto the next stage.
Part 2 - The Trainride. There are three charms, Greasy Globs, Door Guards, and Roof Rack Charms. The HUD will tell you what's being attacked by having a red haze by the charm you need to arm. Once you arm it, it turns green. The area being attacked changes on the hour, every hour, you'll want to watch it to change your charms. On your trap check, you will attract one of the Automaton mice which will drop a repellent spray (as do the raiders). Use the sprays immediately. For every 10 raiders you get rid of, you get 10 bonus points...this is done as a team.
Part 3 - The Jump. My least favorite part. :P Arm the Dusty Coal Charms. Hope for better charms, and if you get them, arm them. You need to collect coals to stoke the fire. HOWEVER, unlike the other two segments, hold onto these because their effectiveness increases the more coals you have. But once you reach the end of your train ride, toss 'em in cause you'll lose those too once the train ride is over. You WILL keep all of the extra charms you pick up. The other downside to this part is unlike the first two, coals do NOT stack as a team.
And that's it. Phat Lootz are based on how many points you get, both as a whole group, as well as your team.

Bee, I'm glad you got your internet back again. :D

DiGs, good luck on that last push to catch King Scarab. He's the easiest one imho, but I think you had pretty good luck on the other two, so he may give you more trouble. Will you eventually craft the charms too?

I'm enjoying the Train Rides. Both a positive and negative for me though, when I'm not doing train rides, there's no point in being at the train station. So I'm working on treasure maps in the meantime. :) (One stinkin' Nomad left on the current map.) Tonight a few of us are doing the first 5p train ride, and we're gonna do the first part while most of us are snoozing. I'll be curious to see how this goes.

I'm curious, which trap are people planning on getting first?

Did not finish it yet... I'm parled in the new area as well... really enjoying it frankly... Once I tick off a few more mice I'll go back and finish it

I've got almost 2 hours left of my 24 hrs solo run.
I don't want another - going solo is too hard :p

"For every 10 raiders you get rid of, you get 10 bonus points" - which would have given me 20 points, right? Well, I only got rid of 9, so no bonus points, only the 9. When we were 4 in a team, we got several sets of bonus points ...

I've got 6 Black Powder charms. I've armed them, and so far I've got 3 passenger mice and 2 FTCs ... I've got 12 Fuel Nuggets and 14 train points - but it doesn't look like I'll get 8 more Nuggets in 1 hr 40 mins of hunting. So no extra bonus for Nugget #20.

My team goal is 90 points. From the first two sections I got 38 points. With the 14 (and hopefully some more) I won't be a Sleeper, but I'll still probably only get a Passenger's reward. I need to go on a team again ... :p

I feel your pain, Bee. The hardest part about 24h solos is that you HAVE to sleep, which means there's no one else to at least sound your horn.

I did a solo 24h train the other day and made Executive (whatever level is below Tycoon). I got exactly like, four points from the first stage. Made most of my points in the second stage; cleared one wave and nearly cleared another (one mouse left! boo). I WOULD have made Tycoon if I had made 35pts in the last stage and I was very close; I think I ended at 17 Fuel Nuggets. But I ran out of time.

Either way, it's MUCH easier to have even one more person along with you.
