Welcome to Claw Shot City!! Yeehaw!!
After DiGs pointed out to me this morning that the Devs had posted a notice on their FB fanpage, I was checking for the new area before every horn hunt. After the drastic update to the Travel page, I knew it was getting close. Honestly, I missed it. LOL I was looking for it in the Sandtail Desert and didn't see there was a whole new realm.
Anyways, got my new trap, I've set up with SB as I see there is a SB only mouse. Just waiting to catch my Bounty Hunter so I can a proper start on Claw Shot City!
ETA @ 2:00pm CDT: The area description hinted at this and I just noticed one of the mice Jacob drew is not listed in the new mice at all, so this appears to only be the first installment of the area. More to come in the future!
As far as my own progress is concerned, I'm missing the SB+ preferring Pyrite Mouse out of the first eight mice.
I'm not liking this new area that much at all. . . . it's pretty boring if you ask me. Just seems like a treasure map based area with a pathetic trap that gives you a really low catch rate.
EDIT: NOW I remember why this area seems so familiar. . . . it's like the Crystal Library 2.0

I personally am comparing this area to the Slushy Shoreline when it was first released. It's a 'farm-as-many-supplies-as-possible' area before the REAL area is released (ie The Iceburg). So keeping that in mind, my goal is to get the upgraded trap and then another 500 Fool's Gold before going back to the Warpath or LG (cause yeah, farming is boring )... that is if the next stage isn't out yet. In less than 24 hours I have amassed 86 Fool's Gold. Yay me.
The two things I'm not loving so far... I don't like that the Wanted Posters take the same slot as the Treasure Maps. The second thing I don't like (and I'm hoping this is a bug) is that you get the same five mice for every wanted poster, every time. A little more variety would be nice...
Things I like, I like that it's a new trap type. That levels the playing field for all players. They SHOULD have done that for the Slushy/Iceburg area imho.
I also like the mice and trap. They're funny. I've caught all mice available so far, hoping more will be unlocked soon. ETA: Oh wait, still need the Coal Shoveler. Forgot about him.
I love the fact this brings everyone back down to the same level for the start. I am also really happy they introduced a new type of mouse. It holds a lot of potential for game development.
I'm not sure I like the new travel page, but I have to admit it does allow for a lot more space for area expansion.
Really not liking this new area. . . . I'm getting slaughtered, catch rate is about 20%. I've missed 6 outlaw mice so far. Still working on my first poster.
This area is going to be a slog. . .

I noticed right away that power and prospector charms weren't cutting it at all so I've been using the Golden Tournament Base (it seems to be working a little better for me than the Snake Jade Base) and either Champion or Ancient Charms. It has made a huge difference in my catch rate. I think once I get the upgraded trap then I won't need to use the highly prized charms anymore.
Oh, and I've been primarily using Gouda instead of SB+. Though I have busted out the SB+ a few times when I got tired of streaks of FTAs.
Personal progress: Fool's Gold - 151 and six gangs caught. But I will be gone most of this weekend so that progress will probably slow a good deal.
ETA: They released a new wanted poster. Yay!
ETA 2: I wanted to post my catch rate for everybody. This is 18 hours with Ancient or Champion Charms armed...
Catches: 74 Fail to Attract: 18
Misses: 32 Stale Bait: 5
The two things I'm not loving so far... I don't like that the Wanted Posters take the same slot as the Treasure Maps.
Yes, that's a bit disappointing. And since I want to finish my treasure map - with a Fall SG mouse, due to be caught in two more days - I'm not getting a Wanted Poster yet.
And it seems that as I'm not getting a Wanted Poster, I'm only getting the first eight mice and none of the others. I got bored and went to the Iceberg instead, and right now I'm at Slushy Shoreline, farming Wire Spools for the Steam Laser Mk II upgrade. (Yes, it's slow work - but at least I much prefer the Shoreline to the Seasonal Gardens.)
Perhaps, when I get enough Wire Spools for the upgrade, I'll have another go at the new area before I go back to the Iceberg - there's some bronzing I could do, if nothing else.
But as soon as that Harvest Harrier has been caught, I'll be hunting Bounty Hunters to see what their Wanted Posters can do!

I'm not having the best luck with poster drops. I've caught like 4 Bounty Hunter mice today, and not a one has dropped a map

I've done my second ZT run. I had got a Technic King Library assignment (and charged up my amp), and we needed a Technic Rook for the treasure map, so it made sense to do it.
I started off with Wooden Base, but after two Pawns I changed to Wooden Base with Target, to ensure the attraction. Then when I had caught all eight Pawns and the first Knight, I realised that my Library assignment demanded WBWT, and it only had counted the last six Pawns ...
So I changed back to the Pincher and got two more Pawns, and then back to ZFM to catch the second Knight - but the assignment demanded another Knight, and I got all the way up to the Technic Queen before I finally got a third Knight, before the King. It would have been annoying to have to do another Tower run just to finish the assignment. Next time I'll have to check the details better before I start ...

I highly doubt that anyone who still reads this thread didn't already see my FB post, but over the weekend...
I CAUGHT A LEPRECHAUN!!!!!!!!!
*ahem*
It just so happened to occur on my 5th anniversary of playing Mousehunt which I thought was a strange coincidence. I haven't seen anyone else mention on the forums that they attracted a Lep on their anniversary so I'm guessing it was entirely by chance.
So that leaves the High Roller Mouse. We'll see if I get him in the next five years
Moving onto my Wild West progress, I still need the Upper Class Lady mouse. I'm up to 257 Fool's Gold. I slowed down quite a bit over the weekend cause I was out of town and only did Wanted Posters with my husband, but even so, I'm over halfway to the upgraded trap. How's everybody else doing on Fool's Gold?
Took a peek at the mouse Jacob drew last Friday. It's one of those old-time photo taking mice.
213 gold, 9 posters. Not counting the new poster that was just released, I have all the available mice caught.
9 posters. On my 10th poster. 216 fools gold. I don't have the desperado. Not counting the new poster of course.
