Not 3 million, Digs - I need 10. The spider trap requires 29 million.
But when I look back 10 million - what was I doing when I reached 9 million? That's about when I crafted the Ship and started on Tribal Isles ...
So it might not seem very long to reach 29 million, but I don't really want to leave JoD alone for that long anyway. There are other things I could do - Furoma, King's Gauntlet - but those would either be best with stronger traps or not give lots of points. In both cases slowing me down.
That's why I think I need the Gorgon for a while.
Or would it be more fun to meet JoD for the first time with a stronger trap?
Another thing I could do, which would get me the points the fastest, would be to stay in the Isles (and collect tons of pepper seeds). Not to get bored, I would have to change tribes occasionally for variation, but spend most time at Elub ...

The JOD has the lowest catch rate of anywhere in the game. Even with the Reaper's Perch (which was until recently the best shadow trap in the game) my catch rate was about 1/4.
Don't know how that will influence your opinion, but it is what it is.
How many points do you need for the Clockapault of Time? You'll need that eventually, it's better than the Gorgon trap and you might actually survive in there.

CoT is only 20 million points, that's just around the corner
The price is what scared me about it - 2.7 mill. The Gorgon still costs a third of that, which I could then skip and save that gold for the CoT instead - and after Ronza, 2.7 mill isn't quite as scary any more
I also think 2.7 mill gold will take less time than 10 mill points. Yes, I'll take your advice and aim for the CoT
Thank you!

*dittos DiGs's excellent advice on the CoT*
Well I attracted one Leprechaun right off the bat yesterday which surprised me. I wasn't quite ready for it yet. Naturally I didn't catch it but that did NOT surprise me. I went poking around for stats on this particular mouse and I found guesses that the catch rate is somewhere around 4-6% I think. So there ya go DiGs... that's how lucky you were to catch one.
Anyways, I switched my setup to Chromstro, GTB, Champion, and Gouda in the Warpath. Not the best setup for getting through the area but that's about the best I can do in an attempt to catch the Lep. The only downside is that there aren't any Lucky Mice here so I'm pondering moving elsewhere so I can try to get more ULCs. Maybe I'll spend the rest of the day here and move elsewhere tomorrow.
I saw on the MH forums that the popular place to be is Derr Dunes. Good gold farming, good setup potential, and the possibility of both the Lucky Mouse and the Lep Mouse. I've also toyed with the idea of the Living Garden with the POWN trap. If the catch rate really is 4-6%, I doubt switching to a Hydro setup is going to make that big of a difference. Plus then I can work towards my Clockwork Portal (which I'm a long ways away from now gold-wise).
Has everyone decided what they want to get from Ronza before she leaves Monday?
I just bought some assorted LG charms...honestly I can't even think about that area right now because I'm dirt broke and can barely afford Gouda to keep my trap running, lol. Might have to head back to the Cats or TI so I can use up some crafted cheese and recoup my gold a little.
Right now I'm just sort of bouncing around trying to earn gold. My immediate goal is to get enough gold to craft my Kitty, and then I'm off to the Pinnacle Chamber to use up my 200 Rumble. After that I should be decent for gold for a little while and will be able to restart the Warpath in earnest.
Congrats on the Lep attraction, fk
Did it also show up in the effectiveness meter, or does it hide from there?
I've caught the Lucky mouse a couple of times, and got some Super Luck charms
I won't buy anything for LG yet - it's too far off. Either I might start saving for the CoT, or, if it's true what people on the forum say, that you ought to be broke when Ronza leaves ( ), some more Tarnished Charms.
They are expensive, though, and I've already got some, and I don't really know where I should best use the Chrome Charms - are they best suited for the Marketplace?
(avi artwork by Henning Janssen)
Chromes were some of the best charms until Ancients were introduced, and those are free. I wouldn't spend a TON of money on them...they got a price hike from last year and people are using them less and less. But they are a good-overall charm, just a little too pricey for me.
After coming into the event late and doing a ton of hunting, I finally have the robot trap. Its power is a little less than the NVRC forcefield, but I hope it'll come in handy on occasions where the forcefield trap isn't helpful. Overall, I'm just excited to have made it this far.

@Varna, no, the prize mice never show up in the effectiveness meter. And even if they did, the meter is not a good gauge on how easy it is to catch a mouse. It doesn't take luck into account for one thing, and it's not very accurate in some of the locations of the game for another (e.g. the Tribal Isles and the Kings Gauntlet).
By the way, I see a lot of people mention "Oh, I'm not getting LG stuff cause I'm a long ways away from that area." I wouldn't suggest getting it for that reason, I'm suggesting it cause as soon as Ronza leaves, prices for LG stuff are likely to skyrocket on the Marketplace. It's a good monetary investment.
Chrome charms, I used them when I was saving tokens for my GTB, but now that I have that and also the introduction of Ancient Charms as Gymmie pointed out, these are not worth getting imho. Just do some treasure maps.
@Mountie, congrats on your Robot trap!

If you continue to play, you'll find that there are a lot of traps, charms, and cheese added during an event that become completely worthless once the event is over. It's more of a silly collectible than something you would actually use.
Well I'm puttering through the Warpath in the most inefficient manner possible. I did make it through Wave 1 and am now whittling down the numbers in Wave 2, but as I'm not using charms I'm attracting a fair number of Guards (and ftcing ). Currently sitting at 40-38-39-46-19.
I was going to go to the LG today, but then I realized that where I had left off was close to going after my next round of TCs, so I'm gonna wait. It's only one more day and I can live without the Lucky Mice.
ETA @ 8pm CST: I've started my Iceburg run in anticipation for Deep and Icewing Easter Eggs. As soon as I'm in good position for those I'll be heading back to the Living Garden.
I was headed back to the warpath, but decided to detour back into the iceberg. I'm at 725ft hunt #101. I'm going after another deep mouse, but once I get into the icewing's lair, I'm going straight to the gauntlet unless the easter event has started. I just realized I don't have any tier 8 cheese yet.
I'm in Wave 3 on the Warpath. 27-14-42-45-24-20
I'm not using charms at the moment for two reasons: one, I save money by not buying Ionized Salt and the actual charms, and two, I have potential for more money by not getting lots of streaks. We'll see if this method holds out for me.
I'm back up to just over two million gold, mostly due to selling a few trap skins on the Marketplace. I'll probably sell the Chrome charms I bought once the prices rise a bit.

I've taken your advice, and even advised Mountie to do the same - we enjoyed being financial investors together
I found your earlier post of what you would recommend and followed that
I've also bought even more Mining Charms, so should soon be ready for that Digby tournament.
I need to make sure I can craft more Limelight cheese, though - I've got more charms than cheese at the moment
Today I've been hunting in Derr Dunes. A couple of times I've been back to Ronza to spend what I've earned, and once I didn't have enough left to go back to Derr and had to hunt at her Shoppe to get enough gold for my return ticket
I've caught a few Lucky mice and got some luck charms of different values.
No Rockstar. But he will be back later. Otherwise I've got everything I wanted from the event (I only wish, not want, for a Lep ...)
Edit:
And now that Ronza has left , I'll farm gold for my CoT trap
Mostly Derr and Nerg, but some other areas as well, occasionally, for variety ..
Tries to use the extra luck (extended for another day ) to catch the Derr Chieftain as many times as possible.

If you can afford to do so, hang onto them until the Living Gardens tournaments come out. I might even be interested in buying them directly from you then.

It should. I think a lot of people freak out by the idea of not getting streaks, but especially in Wave 3 I get about 250,000 gold per day (that doesn't include cheese and charms investment). You may not get as much gold in the Warpath as in Furoma, but you level faster and hopefully get some trap parts to drop. (That and Furoma bores me to tears )
Ronza has left, but the Lucky and Leprechaun mice are sticking around through tomorrow. As far as I'm aware Astro and myself are the only two people to have attracted a Lep this weekend. Anyone else?
My phat lootz acquired from Ronza...
~Monstrobot upgrade
~T-Rex Trap
~25 Coarse Salt
~15 Grubling Bonanza Charms
~1 of each color of dust just to craft the charms
I forgot to mention in my previous post that I'm testing out the POWN trap in the Iceburg. I'm most of the way through the Bulwark and it has really rocked the first two areas. It has a lot less power than the Steam Laser Mk. III, but it has a lot more luck and (most importantly) more attraction. I'm using a few SB here and there to supplement but I'm primarily using Gouda and very rarely am I getting an FTA. So yeah, I recommend the POWN trap for going after the Deep Mouse.

By that time, I may be a bit closer to getting my Clockapault of Time, and some more gold will be handy I wouldn't think I would be in any hurry to get the gold right now.
I suppose we can have a look at what the Marketplace price level is by then, and decide on something.
I guess some event charms are useful all year round just for their power or luck bonus, while others are more collectibles - sometimes they are used again at the same event next year, but there's no knowing whether they will return or not.
Or that's perhaps more of a problem with event currencies, like the Cruise Bux?
(avi artwork by Henning Janssen)
I would think Party charms will be fairly useful all year because they're the equivalent of Super Luck charms. Nothing extraordinary but when you need a bit of a luck boost, there you go.
Currently in the Slushy Shoreline...had an excellent amount of loot drops; I actually have more Wire Spool now than any other part. 8-o Of course I'm still behind on what I need for the rest of my Iceberg equipment, but it was nice to get that little boost!
Might head into the Tower tomorrow. There is NO way I'm going to make it to the end of the Gauntlet by Easter so I'll be night-farming in TI so I can craft up a nice batch of Inferno Havarti. Already have 2/3 of the Pepepr seeds I need so it shouldn't take too long to get the rest.
