Looks like the Halloween event has gone live. For those who haven't been a part of this one before:

You get the specialty cheeses by going to your friends profiles. They have to set up their cheeses first.

You get cobwebs and candies by going there as well.

The majority of people tend to put their profiles on treat. You do need both cheeses to complete the maze, so you may have to bug a couple of people to set theirs up to trick to make sure you get enough cheese.

Looks like there are three new event mice.

My profile is set to trick.

I do NOT need Ghoulgonzola or Candy Corn Cheese if those come up as the daily gift. I'd be happy to share the loads of extra I have. I sent some to Varna cause I know she doesn't have any, who else would like some cheese?

I have a ton of friends who actively play, so I rotate who I send daily gifts out to on a daily basis based in alphabetical order. If you don't get one from me one day, you'll get one the next. I also always send Pumpkins, so if you want something else, let me know.

A few more things... .

My favorite new costumed mouse this year is the Dwarf Mouse. Followed closely by the Mummy and Golem mice. but I still don't think anything can beat the Giant Snail costume from last year (which has returned again this year )

I also got a collectible to drop already. The Spooky Mask... which says it's very rarely dropped by mice. Would have preferred to spend the luck on the Leprechaun, but oh well. 4 more collectibles to go! (The one that allows you to change your full MH theme is kind of interesting. )

I noticed there's only one new trap listed. Wondering if that's going to be the way it is, or if the trap design contest will be the upgraded trap?

The new trap skins are highly amusing as well.

The Halloween event has started.

I have 5 Ghoulgonzola and 15 Candy Corn.

I had a lot of Ghoulgonzola stockpiled from last year, so I don't need any cheese right now. My profile is currently set to treat, but I will be alternating it every day.

I'm in the Great Gnarled Tree for a trap right now and I kind of want to stay here to catch the Goldleaf. If I don't catch it today I'll probably head to the Halloween event and go back to it.

In a cloud of noxious gasses and bellowing a mighty roar, the Swamp Thang Mouse has burst forth from the Living Garden and charged headlong into Gnawnia! Finding the Haunted Terrortories there waiting for him, he kicked Mousevina from her throne and has settled in.

Oooooohhh... wonder if he will be a permanent addition to the LG once the Halloween event is over.

My favourite is definitely the Spud Mouse. . . it's hilarious

I don't need to worry about cheese at the moment. I have a lot stockpiled from last year. Please send me Pumpkins or charms.

I'm hoping to get the trap, the Ice Maiden skin, and whatever collectibles that are around. I'm also hoping I can buy a bunch of charms and such from the shop when all this is over. I racked up on Amplifier charms last year during this event.

Taking a brief break from the Halloween event to try to get the Nerg Lich picked off of our Treasure Hunt map. I won't stay here very long, I came over for the Riptide and figured I'd hang out a little longer to try to snag him.

Anyways... my own personal Halloween event progress.
~Caught the Trick Mouse last night and am about halfway through the Pumpkin Patch to catch the Treat Mouse. Will definitely finish up today.
~I have all of the Halloween Collectibles except for the Journal Customizing thingy. Though I did buy the one part of it in the General Store.
~Currently have 4 Cobwebs and 76 Halloween Candies, will probably spend most of the candies on cobwebs to get the trap skins, we'll see. Also plan to restock my Gilded Cheese and Amplifier Charms.

I've been pondering which skins to buy. I'm sure I'll get the one for the Ice Maiden since I actually have that trap. But the MVMT and the Bottomless Grave aren't exactly going to break the bank if I get them to go with the Halloween skins. Maybe I'll just look up pictures of them and see which ones I like (if any) and go about it that way.

Speaking of skins, I did notice that they added a tab to everybody's journal page to show which skins you had, just like traps, bases, and collectibles.

And may I also say that I LOVE the fact that when you go trick or treating on someone's profile, they changed it so it actually shows up on their journal and you don't have to click on another link to go to the person's profile. Boy was that a pain last year when I was looking to see who all had which collectibles and who still needed some.

I've reached the Rank of Master.

In addition to getting some new areas to hunt in and some new abilities in crafting, I'm no longer restricted to only give Mozzarella cheese as gifts, I can give things like the Gift of the Day and Radioactive Sludge. Currently I'm mostly giving the Pumpkin Treat Basket - I think it's a nice gift, with a little bit of surprise worked in!

My next goal is to get enough points to get better traps. I wanted to buy a tactical one yesterday - and realized that I was more than 100 000 points short!
With some of the event mice being worth two or three thousand points each - and a treasure chest giving me 20 000 last night - I'll probably reach that level some time this weekend ...

I'm using most of the Halloween Candies to buy crafting items that I expect I'll need eventually - and some charms, although I don't really know how best to use the charms. Perhaps they will become more important on a higher level.

Where can we see what the skins will look like? I'll only try to buy one if I think it will make my account actually look nicer.

Are you talking about the brand new Journal Theme skins? Or the trap skins you buy from the Trapsmith? If it's the latter, you should be able to view them on the MH Wiki.

I didn't watch FBF yesterday because they had soooo many technical difficulties in the beginning that by the time they got going I had to leave. I did read the summary on the forum and there were some interesting tidbits in there.
~The Terrifying Spider Trap is not upgradeable. It is what it is. (And Ithil pointed out in the FB page that it's locked until you have enough points to use it. Nice tweak from the way it used to be imho. )
~The Swamp Thang Mouse will NOT be added to the Living Garden after the event is over.
~The Halloween Scroll Cases will morph into regular scroll cases when the event is over.
~Sounds like Ghoulgonzola and Candy Corn Cheese may have the same awesome attraction power that Runny Cheese did during the Olympics event, at least until the Halloween event is over. (Iceburg run anybody?)
~About 100 prize mice will be released per month.
~The app for IoS is in the Appstore. The app for Android phones is coming soon.

ETA @ 5:30pm CDT: Forgot to include my own personal progress. I did finish up the Halloween event but did not get a map to drop. I don't know if they drop or not when you're currently on a Treasure Hunt, but my group took a break from the Halloween event to finish up our map just in case. Amazingly enough, I snagged a Black Widow in the Lagoon, thanks to wolf who sounded the horn. Now we just need the Iceblade out of the Iceburg. Kat's working on it and hopefully we'll have it by this evening. The rest of the group has returned to the Halloween event and I'm starting on my second run through.

I have a map open for the event. If anybody wants in on it, let me know and I'll send you an invite. I've got room for three more people. There are only ten mice on it

That shadow trap is AWESOME by the way. . . pity it cannot be used until you have a lot of points. It is the 2nd best shadow trap in the game (second only to the Reaper's Perch). Blatantly better than the Clockapault of Time or the LE Cackle Lantern Trap. . . Way to go devs!

I wasn't aware of the trap skins - thank you for new information! It seems that there are no skins available for the traps at my level, but it's something to consider when I buy new traps.

Due to several Bat mice and Zombie mice with 2 to 3 thousand points, I've been moving towards the level for tactical traps a lot faster than I had expected. A few hours ago I was less than 2000 points short, and thought that with a bit of luck, the next mouse would bring me over the limit.

The next mouse was the Mousevina von Vermin, worth 27,000 points

I was on a Treasure hunt, all the easy mice were gone, and I really wanted to bring us something - and this was our top mouse!
