The news story says...

Limited Edition Trap

For a limited time, treasure hunters will have a chance to obtain a new Limited Edition Trap known as the Ancient Gauntlet.

This long-forgotten trap can lend much-needed aid to hunters attempting the long climb up the King's Gauntlet. While the statues may look dormant and docile, one of them has been secretly replaced with an incredibly patient hunter droid. Let's see if the mice notice!

Tier 1 mice caught with this trap will be so frightened, they'll drop two Tier 2 Gauntlet potions!

Any type of Treasure Map has a chance of finding a Treasure Chest containing this trap! Using Rare Map Dust to upgrade your map to a Rare Treasure Map more than doubles your chance!

:)

Got a Relic off of an Eclipse Mouse. Glad I had some leftover cheese from the Easter event. ;)) Now I'm wasting money traveling to and from the Muridae Market on trap checks, but I don't have anything better to spend it on at the moment sooo... yep. Wasteful traveling it is. :P ;))

Does this mean we won't be able to use outside websites like mousehuntgame.com? A notice from another game implies yes. But I'm not sure.

Well I've got a good supply of onyx stones, so I'm hoping to get some relics to drop off of the Dojo Sensei. I've set up in there for the time being.

I don't believe so, I think it basically means they can't ask anything more out of us that FB would.

I think I might head to Dracano later.... It's the fastest way I can see myself getting relics... Do you just need one to attract the mouse? I'm not sure how that works... :-s

Got my Relic Hunter and my Map. :) Gymmie, I looked to send you an invite, but you must be in another treasure hunt already cause I could not find you on the list.

Well, I think I might have picked up on an interesting tidbit but it's still too early to tell whether or not this is correct. I caught the Relic Hunter in the Mountain, and the mice I have to catch for the treasure hunt are all little Indigenous Mice. In the future, I may hold off on catching another Relic Hunter until he's in an area that's a little higher leveled.

FK, I think it's a bit different than that; I'll spoiler it for you just in case.

Spoiler
The mice you get on your map is determined by the difficulty level of the map you received. There's Easy, Medium, Elaborate, Hard and Arduous, I think. No one has completed enough maps to figure out yet, but it's probable that the quality of loot received from the Chest is determined by the difficulty level of the map. Maps of all types were found yesterday so it's not a location thing).

I'm currently working on an Arduous map for a FB friend and we have to catch both Kings and a Pygmy Wrangler, among other mice. :p Some of our mice are Summer which won't be available for a week.

FK, if you still have a spot open on that map of yours, I may still join you. I think that non-map owners can leave and rejoin maps at any point, so I definitely don't want to waste a week waiting for a mouse that I can't even access while I could be helping out on other maps.

I sounded the Hunter's Horn and was successful in the hunt! I caught an 10 oz. Assassin Mouse worth 5,000 points and 3,400 gold.

The mouse also dropped the following loot:
1 Satchel of Gold (1,000 gold) and 1 Ancient Relic

So I guess Assassin mice drop them too

Hi Richard (is it ok if I call you Richard?) :) Welcome to NarniaWeb!
Thanks for the tip on the Assassin Mouse. :D I have updated the above list (though the 100% listings may not be accurate).

@EtJ, I can't say for sure, but it looks like since we still sign into MHG.com with our FB accounts, we should be ok. The devs will let us know for sure if something changes.

Do you just need one to attract the mouse? I'm not sure how that works...

You need a relic in your inventory to attract a Relic Hunter, yes.

Ok can we go back and explain just what the maps are for us people who haven't earned any yet?

;)) Once you catch the Relic Hunter, he will drop a map. The map is your guide to which mice you need to catch to get the Treasure. :)

Me and my buddies just finished up our Easy map that had been spiced up with Rare Map Dust. I assume the loot is reflective of our ranking rather than the map difficulty?

3:17 pm - Meadow
I received 115,000 Gold, 70,000 Points, 2 Master Belt Shards, 10 Runes, 13 Shards of Glass, 5 Luck Charms and 10 Ancient Charms from 1 Rare Easy Treasure Chest.

As far as I can tell, none of us got the LE trap, so onto the next one. ;) I'm in the Library trying to catch Zurreal. :)

Ok, so how do you get your friends involved? It sounds like everyone is teaming up to do these? Also,

Spoiler
it is possible though not guaranteed you get the trap from completing the treasure hunt, yes?
And any word on how long the trap will be in the game for?
Spoiler
Have the devs dropped any hints about the unknown Forest Guild Mouse?
*has lots of questions ;))

Welcome Richard!

Determining the best place to hunt for the Relic in the areas I can access. Looks to be the Forbidden Grove and Acolyte Realm. Based on the encounter of at least two moose that drop the Relic. Probably should have a handful of them at the least.

Taking a break from the Gauntlet. Honestly, it would be a crying shame if I don't get the LE trap for the area of the game I spend the most time. :p

“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”

Got in on another map today; this one is a Rare Hard (but nothing too bad at all; we missed getting a Realm Ripper today though so we won't be able to complete it until tomorrow) so it's a better chance at the new trap. I'll let you know how it goes.

Btw, the Devs HAVE stated that if you leave a map you can rejoin it later, but so far it hasn't really worked out for me. I posted a query on the forums and I'll get back to you; but as of now if you get on a map, I would suggest staying on it until we find out for sure.

ETA: I broke down and donated a bit so now I have three Rare Dust that I can use, but right now I'm only going to use them on Hard and up Maps so I have a better shot at the new trap. If you get one, let me know! I don't mind donating my Rare Dust as long as you remember me fondly in the future and return the favor if you can. ;)

wolf, I screenshotted the map for you if you're interested in seeing it.

http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d150/ ... ureMap.jpg

That's what it looks like for the participants. If you are the person who actually had the map drop, the five squares that I blacked out is where you click and invite your friends to join you.
No, you are not guaranteed the LE trap for completing a map. None of the five of us who completed the Rare Easy Map yesterday got the trap.
Based on the difficulty of some of these assignments (some requires a Black Widow or General Drheller :-o ) I'm guessing it will be around for quite some time.
No word on the unknown Forest Mouse yet.

A few other points worth mentioning... if you are the owner of the map, where it says on my screenshot "Frustrated? You can stop following this Treasure Map at any time." it gives you the option of smashing that particular map, so if you do end up with a nearly impossible one, you don't have to keep it.
The players on the MH forum confirmed yesterday that you do NOT have to catch a mouse in order to get a treasure chest. There was some speculation that you did to save a team from freeloaders.

And another point that is my own, once my immediate friends/family and I get our LE traps, I'll do everything I can to make sure all the rest of you get your LE traps too. :)

FBF here in a few hours, can't remember if this is an an art FBF or not, don't think it is, but I'll be updating this post unless someone posts after me. :)

ETA: Today's art FBF is Jacob redrawing the Leprechaun Mouse. They have plans coming up for him that they're not sharing yet, so that's what's going on. ;)
