I enjoy reading your episode synopses and comments, Warrior. Thanks!

I too like all the shout-outs to the fans and the parallels to tiny details from the earliest days of season 1.

A few random additional thoughts and gossip tidbits I've heard elsewhere:

Shannon's inhaler

Spoiler
appearing was, one rumor has it, a shout-out to fans who've asked about it at Comic-Con and other places; apparently the question of its whereabouts was originally going to remain unanswered.

The 'enhanced' version of "Lighthouse" indicates that

Spoiler
the sites seen in the mirrors, in addition to those Warrior mentioned above, include the little church where a young James Ford attended the funerals of his parents - and where he encountered Jacob.

"Sundown": It's possible that

Spoiler
Flocke cannot kill a candidate outright - hence his sparing of Sayid and Sawyer. And he cannot kill children, as seen in his attack on the temple at the end of the episode - though this one may be tied more to network and audience expectations of how kids are treated on TV than a plot point.

David Shephard:

Spoiler
Perhaps Charlotte is his mother? His light complexion and eye color match, and there have been rumors of her return to the series, probably in the sideways reality since she died on the island last season.

Damon Lindeloff has been quoted as saying "There's no need for an island to have a Lost-themed ride at Disney World: "Just put people in a black room, spin them around and punch them in the face and tell them 'You just had the Lost experience.'" ;))

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Thanks Stargazer. I love Damon Lindelof's quote. He and Carlton Cuse seem to be really funny guys.

It's great to see

Spoiler
Jack and Kate are probably no longer an item. Kate seems all the stronger for it (as does Jack, until he smashes the mirrors in the lighthouse) and we, the audience may be spared any more love-triangle adventures. About time too! :p

Does the dial act like a compass of sorts? Also, there's a fire-bowl in the centre of the dial.

Spoiler
Probably where the lighthouse was lit to usher in people/ships in ancient times before the dial and mirror additions. What does a lighthouse symbolise? Hope. Enlightenment. Light illuminating the shadows. Light shed on old mysteries? Possibly. We can only hope.

Awaiting Sundown.
Just a question. Is the episode Sun-centric or is that just something more to misdirect us? No spoilers please. Thanks

No it's not Sun-centric, I thought the same thing until the day before and got some info on it. ;) It is a really good episode, and I can't wait to see your thought's on it Warrior 4 Jesus! :)

Thanks mate. That's interesting to hear. Okay, I just watched the promo. It seems to focus on Sayid just a bit more than everyone else. I'm guessing it's a Sayid-centric episode?

Stargazer, what do you mean by 'enhanced' versions of an episode? Does it have extra footage or is it just broadcast in a higher resolution? Thanks

Sayid-centric it is. :)

A few more thoughts on lighthouses (both the episode and the structures in general)...

Spoiler
I did notice the firebowl in the lighthouse. It's possible that the mirrors were there back in the days it was used as a navigational lighthouse, to direct and focus the fire's light to any ships at sea.

Another function of regular lighthouses as navigational aids is actually to warn approaching vessels of hazards like rocks or shoreline. (As noted in the Great Lakes lighthouses - many of which were built back before radios and GPS and so on, after huge storms sometimes led to numerous shipwrecks. I wonder if, in addition to the other symbolic purposes of lighthouses we've mentioned, this meaning - a warning to stay away - might have some significance?

I think you'll like "Sundown," Warrior - it's very intense with a lot of action.

edit: Warrior, the 'enhanced' episodes (the network's term) are the identical episodes, aired as reruns (right now, the previous week's episode is re-aired right before the new one), with occasional text subtitles explaining what's happening on-screen or adding detail (such as "Here is [so-and-so] as seen in the season 1 episode [name]."). Sometimes the details are obvious but other times they add new information or make previously unclear connections 'official.' But I read somewhere that not all the enhanced comments are considered canon by the writers.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Warrior 4 Jesus, the enhanced episodes are the exact same episode except it has a popup bar at the bottom of the screen that tells you information about what is happening on screen.

Here's an example of what it looks like:

They usually show the episode from the previous week (enhanced), before the new episode comes on right after. :)

After the last episode, with regards to Claire...

Spoiler
I'm beginning to wonder if it was Rousseau who was infected and not her teammates. She and Claire are acting exceedingly similar, both existing in a very disheveled state, both focused on reclaiming their lost children, both convinced the Others have said child (in Rousseau's case this assumption was true), both staying by themselves out in the middle of the jungle. The only thing missing from the Rousseau tangent is that we never did see the Smoke Monster in gaseous or human avatar form around her, however she did refer to it as a "security system".

How far of a stretch is it that Rousseau's shipmates saw her acting squirrely and opted to try and off her?

Just something I picked up on during the last two episodes...

I like that theory, SL!

So, the past few Lost episodes have kinda been a bit...bland for me. I was really hoping tonight's would liven up. And it did! Probably one of the best episodes I've seen in a loooong time.

So...the best news ever is.... dun dun dun

Spoiler
Ben is good!!! He makes the right choices in both realities!! He's one of my favorite characters now, and I'm soooo glad this episode had such a "happy ending.

Other nice touches:

Spoiler
The reunion with Sun and Jack and Hurley!
Ben trying to take over the school/take over the island
Locke giving him the nudge and saying he'll follow Ben if he "takes over the school"
What I'm assuming was a comparision of Ben and Napolean (ugh, can't spell tonight!)
Alex!!!
Richard not dying.
They have a nice grave all ready to go for the next victim!

Also, I in LOVE with that great, "minor" music they play at particulary tragic moments, if you know what I'm talking about.

I LOVED that Episode!

Spoiler
I'm so so so so so so so happy that Ben is Good, him and Jack are both my favorite characters, and I had a feeling Ben would be good, but with Lost you never know!
I think it's funny that Jack seems to be more like Locke was (Man of Faith) I'm glad Richard didn't kill himself and that Jack seemed to re-motivate him.
I think Widmore is heading to Hydra Island where Flocke is to team up with him.

I'm not expecting next weeks episode to be great, only because it was the second lowest rated episode, but the good news is the week after next is the Richard centered episode and that episode was the highest rated so far this season!

Val, I'm not sure why you think the past few episodes have been bland. They've been rather slow-paced but we've got some answers (and more questions). That said, episodes have generally been more character-focused than mythology-focused.

7Chronicles, how can episodes that haven't been screened yet, already be rated?

I'm really looking forward to the Richard-centric episode too. I love the Island mythos. The ninth episode is entitled Ab Aeterno. This is Latin. The direct translation is 'to eternity' but it means

Spoiler
from the beginning of time.

On DarkUFO there are people who have seen them, I know one of them was woman who does Lost interviews and articles. :)

Oh, I see. I know what you're talking about but I don't think the people had seen them, only read the scripts. At the time they were rated, the episodes weren't even completed (the LOST writers often comment about how they work on about 8-10 episodes at a time).

Oh, your right, I checked with my sister who read the ratings, and she said they read the scrips. :)

Okay. Thanks.

Has anyone listened to the Geronimo Jack's Beard podcasts with Jorge Garcia (who plays Hurley) and his girlfriend, Bethany (who is a children's book author and sometimes extra on LOST)? They're very good. The two comment on aspects of the current LOST scripts before they have even been filmed. It's all very interesting and sometimes quite random. Obviously the podcast name is a play on the band title - 'Geronimo Jackson' from LOST.
Check it out here:

Also, DARKUFO reports that there will be an official LOST Encyclopedia with a little over 400 pages of goodness. Awesome! If there were ever a series that needed an encyclopedia, LOST would be it. I can't wait. You can pre-order it here:

#:-s Right - Original Timeline Jazz.

Spoiler
I was so happy when I found out this episode was Ben-entric (clue's in the title), he is one of my favourite characters and Michael Emerson is a joy to watch. I actually teared-up when he said "He's the only one that will have me" - gut wrenching, I don't care that he killed Jacob - I just wanna hug him!! On a side note, it really warmed me up to Ilana, "I'll have you", Yeays!!

Good grief, I loved the ended, beach, music, weird slow-mo effect. It's like season one - which knew how to deliver an ending!

Poor Richard as well - although Jack dealt with this amazingly (I'm loving the new-and-improved 'man of faith' Jack). I'm soooo glad Ben has come back to Jacoby goodness, here's hoping Richard will come back too.

Spoiler
Also, I'm thrilled Dr Linus chose Alex in the alternate timeline. Ben. Benny Benny Ben Ben - I knew you were nice all along. Deep down. You had to kill a few people to figure it out!

To summarise: Ben Linus rocks my socks and makes me cry. Smashing episode!
