Tonight's US repeat of "Ab Aeterno" is an enhanced version. Here are a few tidbits picked up from the comments (no big spoilers except for the possible exception of the last one):
- Richardo's wife Isabella dies from tuberculosis (consumption) back in 1867.
- The doctor's medicine isn't real; he was using it to con Ricardo out of his money.
- Isabella tells Ricardo to 'close his eyes' in Spanish - a command she repeats (via Hurley) at the end of the episode.
- Like many of the 815 survivors and others brought to the island in modern days, Ricardo is responsible for killing a man - even if it wasn't intentional.
- The journal of the Black Rock's first mate was discovered in 1952.
- Ricardo is trapped
- The MiB
- The MiB's
- Jacob douses Ricardo in the ocean 4 times (the Numbers).
- Burying Isabella's cross is a symbolic burial of his wife (which he never got to do).
- The MiB couldn't
Watching this one again reminds me of just how good it is.
Recent episodes of Lost have included a commercial in which Evangeline Lilly (Kate) plugs L'Oreal shampoo. She looks different when she's not tromping around the island.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
That's all very interesting but the enhanced episode details aren't written by the writers. Most of what you've said sounds about right but I don't know the medicine was fake, just that it was incredibly expensive and that the doctor didn't want to 'waste' it on peasants.

That's an excellent point, Warrior; in fact I thought about mentioning that the enhanced comments aren't considered canon by the writers, but got distracted while finishing that post. That's especially worth remembering regarding that last point:
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
My thoughts on + recap of episode 6.12 - The Last Recruit:
This isn't my favourite episode of the season, nor one of my favourites but it was very enjoyable, especially to see all our Losties hanging out together, just like the old times. This was a set-up episode but even still, the story felt more like it was progressing to a definite conclusion (as to what that is, it's still a mystery).
Smokey tells Jack that he appeared to Jack as his father, Christian. Is he telling the truth, a lie, or a partial truth? I'm leaning towards a partial truth. At times he may have been Christian but I have a feeling it was Jacob that led them to water etc.
LA X - Following the accident, Locke is rushed into an ambulance, Ben hops in alongside him. Locke mentions the name Helen Norwood. I'm guessing we'll see a scene where she's notified of the accident and comes to see him at the hospital.
Sun awaken in a stretcher, as does Locke. She recognises him and screams. But does she recognise him as Locke or Smokey?
Island - Claire and Jack finally talk. Thankfully, she seems to be more herself. It's a lovely moment between siblings but then she seals her loyalty to Smokey with the comment, 'Jack, you decided to join him, the moment you let him talk to you'. Creepy!
Sawyer tells Hurley of his plan to leave the Island using Widmore's submarine. Hurley gives a Star Wars reference and Sawyer doesn't seem to recognise it. Is this an error, or is he just too flustered to bother with trivial pop-culture references? I'm hoping it was the latter.
LA X - Sawyer and Kate are at the police station. Sawyer eats an apple. Is he just hungry, or are the writers hinting at an Adam and Eve connection with the two? The forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden wasn't necessarily an apple, but the belief that it was has entered public consciousness. Miles enters and notifies Sawyer of a murder suspect leaving Keamy's restaurant and about a non-English speaking witness. It doesn't take a genius to work out that he's talking about Sayid and Jin.
Island - Zoe enters Smokey's camp, demanding to speak with Smokey. She tells threatens them and orders an air strike to frighten them. Zoe and Smokey don't flinch but it freaks out everyone else.
LA X - Claire heads to the Adoption Agency but Desmond intercepts her and talks her into going to see a lawyer he knows. Desmond is decidedly creepy here - very much a stalker. If I were a young, single woman, I'd be especially disturbed. His lawyer is on the same level as the Adoption Agency, Level 15 (Sawyer's number). There we meet Ilana?! She has an American accent and seems to recognise Claire, possibly from the Island.
Island - Smokey tasks Sawyer with getting a boat on the shore to take them and Locke to Hydra Island. He gives him a rudimentary map to help. Sawyer uses the map to clue Hurley into his plan. Sawyer wants to help the sane Losties all escape on the boat, so they can find the submarine and escape from the Island. Meanwhile Smokey tasks Sayid with killing Desmond. I don't think he went through with it.
LA X - Sayid returns from Keamy's restaurant to Nadia's house and packs his bags to leave. Miles and Sawyer turn up to arrest him. Sawyer pulls a fancy garden-hose trick to trip up Sayid.
Island - Sawyer takes Kate and they find the boat. Smokey goes off to talk with Sayid and the sane Losties leave the group. Sayid returns from 'killing Desmond'. He seems to have a bit of a soul now. Talking to Desmond must have done him some good.
We witness Kate's loyalty to Aaron and Claire when she refuses to leave Claire behind with Smokey and has a great talk with her. She admits that she shouldn't have raised Aaron. Good stuff! The Losties all climb aboard. The boat looks very familiar - it's the Elizabeth, the yacht Desmond sailed to the Island in. More precisely, Libby's dead husband, David's boat. Awesome!
LA X - Jack and his son, David arrive at the Law Office (?) and they go to Level 15. Hmmm... This is for the reading of Christian's will but wow, Claire is there also and she's been expected. Desmond has shepherded her where she was meant to be! They discover that they have the same father. Jack is disturbed by it all, gets a phone call for an emergency at the hospital. He has to leave, so he reschedules for the reading of the will.
Island - The Losties sail the Elizabeth to Hydra Island. On the way, Jack and Sawyer have a disagreement (really?) and Jack jumps off the boat. Sawyer acts like a baby and Jack is now a man of faith. He doesn't want to return to LA where his life will be hellish. He believes they're there for a reason and that they have a job to do. Sawyer is peeved because he just wants to get off the Island. I commend Jack for his decision.
LA X - Sun survives surgery, as does the baby. Jack and David make their way to the hospital, where Jack will perform emergency surgery. David's okay with waiting X amount of hours for his dad to finish work. What a patient kid! Emergency surgery would take, what, six hours minimum? I find it funny that dural-sacs are mentioned so often in the show. It's like it's the only medical term the writers know. Ha, hilarious! Jack's patient is none other than Locke. Wow, I didn't see that one coming.
Island - Jack returns to the Island where Smokey and his crew are waiting. On Hydra Island, the other Losties are taken captive by Widmore's crew. Sun and Jin are finally reunited and a lovely reunion follows. Unfortunately, it didn't have the impact it should've after several years. Maybe we didn't care about these two characters as much as we used too, maybe the writers delayed it too long and maybe it was cut short. Either way it was a nice moment but surprisingly anti-climatic and short-lived. I have a disturbed feeling that Sun and Jin won't be with us much longer.
Sun regains her English voice.
Sun is like Zechariah (although much better looking). She is frustrated with everything and wants to be reunited with her husband, Jin but she starts to doubt that it will ever happen.
Zoe orders an air strike on Smokey. There are lots of lovely explosions and Jack and many red-shirts are blown away by a blast but only he seems to survive. Smokey picks Jack up and runs for cover. He tells Jack, 'you're with me now!'
Chilling. So Jack is The Last Recruit, but will he also be The Candidate?

Enjoyable summary, as always, of "The Last Recruit," Warrior. I laughed out loud at

but find this analogy quite interesting.
A friend sent a link to this page from Wired - it's a cornucopia of Lost info, some of which we've seen before. Be sure to scroll down to see all the content there - may include spoilers.
Parts I like include the big whiteboard (at the top of the article) which includes all sorts of stuff related to the show. You can click on specific parts of the board for a closer view.
Scrolling down reveals an image of Damon, Carlton, and a Polar Bear, a velvet painting by Misha revealed at a past Comic-Con.
Farther down yet is a discussion of Geronimo Jackson, and "The Web of Intrigue" - a diagram plotting how all the various characters are interconnected (though the comments are quick to point out omissions).
There's also an article about Gregg Nations and his continuity efforts in the series, and a few Easter eggs in past episodes that have turned out to be later plot reveals. One I like is a screenshot of Kayak.com showing Oceanic Flight 815, with the fare of $4815.16 (the Numbers) and a departure date of September 22, 2010.
Its caption: Before season six began, eagle-eyed frequent flyers noticed that Oceanic Airlines flights from Sydney to LA were available on the travel site Kayak.com. Well played, Kayak.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Ha, ha! Yes, I like Sun.
I've seen some of that stuff you shared before but much of it was very interesting. Thanks Stargazer.

Thanks for those links, Warrior. LOSTpedia is the one I visit most though Dark UFO is one I've looked at too.
Okay, I’m officially stunned. 6.14 “The Candidate”:
We find out that Flocke wants all the candidates so he can kill them so he can leave the island. He tells them that Widmore wanted them all on the plane, in a small enclosed space that they could not get out of, in order to kill them all at once. Then he does it with the sub.
I think he planted the C4 on the Ajira plane so he could arrange the whole submarine con. At the end, he goes off to finish what he started – to kill the candidates that survived the sub sinking.
Jin and Sun have a touching final scene, and they’re still alive in the alternate reality, but still, to see them die is…just sad. Maybe the emotional depth of the scene will grow on me. (Yes, I’ve read those spoilers that indicated there would be a lot of death – including characters we’ve come know and love).
The sideways reality
John knows about the island reality somehow (in his sleep/dreams/delirium he talks about “pushing the button” and repeats his “I wish you’d believed me” line from season 2).
In this reality he loves his father “more than life itself” and bears immense guilt over Cooper’s injuries in a plane crash John piloted. Jack repeats “whatever happened, happened,” at one point, as well as “I wish you’d believe me” back to John.
At the beginning Jack calls the injured Locke "a candidate" - for spinal surgery but also as a word play to Jacob's island candidates.
I definitely need to watch it again; more comments will be forthcoming.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
My heart was beating so fast while I was watching this episode!
I’m glad Sayid redeemed himself, and did what he did to save everyone else! And to have it confirmed that Jack is the candidate was assumed even though I figured it was him.
I bet Jack was right when he said not to do anything, that everyone would have been ok.
I nearly cried when Jin refused to leave Sun, even though he knew it would end with them both dying.
I’m glad that if they had to die, it was together, even though it was sad!
I am so exited for the next episode!!!! I’ve heard that they are going to explain a bunch of stuff, I hope they are right!!!!
This episode reminded me of a little bit of Season 3, it was powerful and sad!
The Value of myth is that it takes all the things you know and restores to them the rich significance which has been hidden by the veil of familiarity. C.S. Lewis
That is all.
I will not click the spoilers, I will not click the spoilers.
Oh gosh, this is difficult. I've heard this episode was the darkest of the series. I'm guessing some favourites die.
Now for some news:
At the link below, DarkUFO indicates that the Lost series finale will be 30 mins longer than first planned. That's about 20 mins extra footage! (Roughly 106 mins, instead of 86 mins).
Awesome.

I haven't watch 'The Candidate' yet, but from what I hear, it's pretty awesome.
A couple of my flatmates watch Lost as well, but they're very slow about it - I always watch it the day it's released. It's quite funny watching their reactions when I know what's going to happen. Anywho, the rest of my house has all-of-a-sudden decided they want to watch Lost too. So, as it's much more fun watching for the first time with other people, I have decided not to watch the remaining episodes until they have caught up. At the rate they're going, it won't be long (I hope)!
Sooooo . . . hopefully I won't be on this thread for a while, if I stick to my plan, I'm far too tempted just to read all the spoiler messages right now! Right - goodbye Lost fans for a while. Eeek!
p.s. Have you guys heard? The finale is going to be two & a half hours long! I see epicness ahead.
p.p.s. ^I see I'm a bit behind in the news department.
Wow! I was shaking throughout the episode and still am. The Sun and Jin moments were handled extremely well, easily making up for last episodes underwhelming reunion. A very intense, action-packed and sad episode. Too much. I'll write more when I've calmed down (and slept).
