Definetly one of my favorite bands,Leeland is a Contemporary Christian band from Baytown,Texas. They have received Dove Award nominations for their first two studio albums Sound of Melodies and Opposite Way. Opposite Way was also nominated for a Grammy.
Their third studio album Love is on the Move was released in August.
They are currently traveling with Brandon Heath and Francesca Batistelli on the "Follow You" tour.
Band Members
Leeland Mooring: Lead vocalist and guitarist for the band. Leeland was nominated for Songwriter of the Year(Dove Awards) in 2008. Leeland also co-wrote 6 songs on Michael W. Smith's album Stand, and wrote a seventh song on the album as well.
Jack Mooring: Leeland's older brother, Jack plays the keyboard and also does background vocals. Jack is the son-in-law of Michael W. Smith, and he and his wife Whitney are expecting their first child.
Jake Holtz: Leeland and Jack's cousin,Jake plays bass in the band.
Mike Smith: Mike plays drums for the band, and is self-proclaimed as being "awesome."

Sound of the Melodies
I personally love Leeland, though it took me a bit to get into them.
I've been listening to them since their first CD was popular.
First song I heard: Yes You Have
I simply love that song, the lyrics are so wonderful. Has always been my favorite.
Favorite line of the song: "With your love you set me free, Three nails gave me liberty"
Second favorite line of the song: "If I fall into the sea, your hand will rescue me. No one can take your place."
Second song I heard: Tears of the Saints
More and more I am loving this song. It's always been my second favorite of theirs but it might soon become my favorite over all.
Favorite: ALL of it, There's not just one line I can single out, from the first note to the last- it's an amazing song. With a call "We're crying for them come back home."
I then bought the Cd.
Third song I heard: Sound of the Melodies
Another wonderful song, and I quite enjoyed its video as well.
Fourth brought one of my favorite biblical stories: Carried to the Table
The story of Mephibosheth has always moved me, a story of undeserving grace. Totally mirrors our story, saved by grace. This song totally brought it closer to me. One of my favorite Leeland songs.
Fifth, Sixth and Seventh song which I also really enjoy:
Too Much, Reaching, Lift Your Eyes all of which I love, but still pale in comparison next to the others I listed above.
The Cd was definitely worthy of its nomination.
Opposite Way
This CD was wonderful, maybe I haven't heard it as well as the first, but it hasn't brought me as many loved songs. But it has it's share:
First off: Enter This Temple
Amazing song!!! "Let your wings cover us with promise"
My favorite song off this CD. Every time I listen to it I enjoy it as the first.
I can totally sing my heart out to this song, (when no one's around as I have a horrible voice for singing).
Second: Opposite Way
Great song as well, telling us it's OK to the walk in the same way as the rest of the world.
Other songs I enjoy from this CD: Beginning and the End, Count Me In, Let It Out Now.
I believe it was last year in March/April (2008).
Casting Crowns was here in West Palm Beach, Fl. which is one hour from where I live, but the closest concert stadium. Of course I went to see them, but opening for them was Leeland. I enjoyed watching Leeland sing some of my favorite songs off both albums they had at the time. I definitely can't wait for them to be here again in close to me. (They were over here with Francesca Battistelli and Brandon Heath but it was further away from me).
Love is on the Move
Finally this year Leeland released their third CD. This one I have chosen to listen to differently, I chose to listen to it a bit at a time so that I don't run out of new Leeland songs before their next album. (Sure I'll run out but not as fast, I'm doing this with other artists as well).
Songs get played for as long as they are popular with me.
First off: Follow You
I bought this one as a single mid-summer and simply played it out for months.
I love the lyrics and the similar call as in Tears of the Saints. This track features Brandon Heath, currently #19 on the billboard charts and rising.
Second: Pure Bride
I love this song as well, it is wonderful.
Still listening to this one quite frequently so I have yet to really grasp it to its fullest.
Third: Via Dolorosa
This one I have just started listening to and am enjoying it.
Can't say yet how much though.
I'm sure the CD has other great songs, but I am skipping around in it selecting certain songs at first before hitting the CD in full force.
My dance team is doing a dance to "Hey". I'm a not a big fan of Leeland but I do like that song. I kind of have to because I listen to it fifteen or twenty times a week (or more) while practicing
narnian1, thank you for posting the CD covers, and for the excellent reviews of Leeland's songs. I really appreciate it.
Everytime I hear "Tears of the Saints" I start crying and praying at the same time because of the different people that come to my mind. Relatives, friends, even people I don't know!
My favorite line of "Yes,You Have" is With your love you forgave my sin, forgot my past. Most people's reaction when I tell them this is really sheer disbelief. But just because I'm young(er) doesn't mean I've not had a past to regret.
"Beautiful Lord" is an amazing song about God's providnce and majesty.
I also like "Wake Up."
"Enter this Temple" is an amazing song. My sister didn't get what they meant by "communion" and I explained to her that Leeland wasn't talking about the act of communion-they were talking about communing with God,spending time with Him. Really great song and definetly one of my favorites.
I really like the last line of "Opposite Way": My Jesus ran the opposite way. Every time I think about doing something just because "everyone else" is, I think about that line.
"Follow You" was the very first Leeland song I heard. The message of that song really hit me straight on; I had recently rededicated my life to God when I first heard it.
I love "Via Dolorosa"! It's a little more peppy than I expected with its lyrics, but still an excellent song.
I ordered "Love is on the Move" Saturday, and I'm expecting it sometime this week.I'm relly looking forward to hearing Leeland's new music.
narnian_at_heart,I can post a link or two to some of their other songs if you'd like me to.
You don't need to, Lark. Thanks anyway but I'm not super into them.
Just wondering. I'm glad you like "Hey" though.
Any other NWebbers out there like Leeland?
"Beautiful Lord" is an amazing song about God's providnce and majesty.
Gonna give it a listen tonight then.
I've never really listened to Leeland, but my friend likes them (despite being Japanese and not understanding half the words ). I actually have their album "Opposite Way" on my iTunes because she has problems and can't use her home computer to sync music to her iPod. I've never listened to it though. Could you recommend me some songs? From that album or otherwise. Thanks.

I just got their second CD and I'll be getting their third soon because it's on sale right now. I first heard Sound of Melodies on WoW 2007 and then Tears of the Saints on WoW 2008. Count Me In is on WoW 2009, which I also have but I had heard that song before. Leeland's songs all touch me in a special way and I'm sure if I let them they'd become my favorite band...
I hope you enjoy it,narnian1.
Aslans Country, Leeland actually came to Japan one or two years ago. I think they only visited the Tokyo area of the country, but I could be mistaken.
I'd actually recommened all the songs on Opposite Way But "Beginning and the End" "Enter this Temple" "Wake Up" and "Count Me In" would be the first ones from the album I'd recommened.
For recommendations from Love is on the Move you'll have to ask narnian1. My copy hasn't come yet. I've only heard "Follow You" and "Via Dolorosa."
On Sound of Melodies, I'd recommend(all of the songs!but I'll narrow it down again)the title track,"Beautiful Lord","Carried to the Table",and "Yes You Have".
Oh,MissA, don't you dare feel like that. Hhhmmm...some of their "slower" songs are "Beautiful Lord" "Carried to the Table" and "Tears of the Saints." Some of their "faster" songs are "Yes You Have" "Wake Up" and "Count Me In."
Glad to hear that you enjoy them,GlenstormtheGreat!
Thanks so much, Lark.
I'll check some of those songs out.. right now.
Really, they visited Japan? That's awesome. I live in Tokyo, or rather very near Tokyo. I don't think my friend's been a fan for too long, but if they ever come again, I'm sure she'll be going to see them.

Tears of the Saints and Hey are the only ones I can remember hearing. I really liked Tears of the Saints actually, though I haven't listened to it for a few months.
Avatar by Wunderkind_Lucy!
so I took all 3 Leeland CDs to work yesterday and listened to them in full,
I liked several other songs in the first two that I hadn't given proper chances to, including Beautiful Lord.
I heard the third CD in full despite not wanting to do that just yet.
But I liked it as a whole and there are more songs that I will definitely love as I put them on my ipod one at a time, at different times too.
But one song I did add today because I found it to be amazing: Holy Spirit Have Your Way
The first time I heard Leeland was live at a youth conference. I wasn't really impressed, but it was really late at night and my youth group had driven two hours to get to the conference. I love their songs "Sound of Melodies," "Tears of the Saints," "Yes, You Have," and "Beautiful Lord." I haven't really listened to any of their other songs....I might just go look them up on itunes...
