Am I the only one who thinks the latest episode proves just how much animation has improved over TLA? I'm not too fond of the 3D stuff though...
I missed the last episode. Most likely catch it when it comes up on facebook in a couple days.
I have been wondering about a few things that have happened in the series so far.
I hope I don't break any of the rules about spoilers, but I just have not figured out how to cover them yet. Guess I'm just not savvy enough, or just lazy right now.
Anyway. I sort of struck me no one ever thought of what Tarlokk, Amon, and the equalist street barker were doing is a kind of bending. Word Bending. The street barker was able to manipulate Korra into saying just what he wanted her to. " I bet you would like to knock me right off...." And she fell for it. Just as Tarlokk was able to set her up with the reporters so she eventually joined his taskforce.
Amon, whether he is truly scarred or not, has defenitly proven a capable propagandist.
Hope this is ok so far.
I will have to go back to see if I can practice spoiler covering. Just in case.
Reepi, I've watched the episodes with Ryadian and her brother, and one comment he frequently makes is how much better the animation is in Korra than in the original.
The 3D was a little hard for me to get used to in the original, but it seems to suit the atmosphere of this series, and the steampunk style of Republic City.
A comment I forget to mention earlier:
Interesting observations, Puddleglum. Hadn't thought of that. It could also be applied to the comments I put into my spoiler above.
(Spoilers are made by typing [*spoiler]top secret info here[/spoiler] - except without the * )
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Now that I've seen "When Extremes Meet," I can read gazer's spoilers and respond.
The Amon-is-Tarrlok theory seems to be losing ground since Tarrlok seemed to despise being compared to Amon, although his manipulation and making decisions that follow what Amon has said about benders make me wonder if he isn't in league with Amon in some way. They are at least philosophical equals, I think. I do like gazer's idea that Tarrlok will be the ultimate baddie for the series, but I think Tarrlok will be this season's baddie and will be mostly taken care of before it finishes, leaving Amon and co. for next season. Sort of like Zhao and Azula led to Ozai.
Also, who thinks that Tarrlok will lose his bending before it is all over?
I cannot wait for the next episode. Based on what we have seen in "WEM" and the title
"All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies. And when they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you..."

Man, cliffhangers are a pain. I need to get my thoughts out about the latest episode while it's still fresh in my mind.
More later.

I'm not completely caught up, some I'm not sure what everyone has speculated on and all. I've got a few theories I want to throw out there on sundry topics.
Amon's Identity:
The Fate of the Aang Gang:
Shipping:
About Booky's spoilers:
Fate of the originals:
In a related vein, what about Katara's other kids, Bumi and Kya (mentioned in the Korra pilot episode)? We've no additional info on them, and perhaps one of them is tied to Amon or Tarrlok - or (as a friend speculated early on) might even be Amon.
Shipping:
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Ok. here's my try with spoiler covering.
I also wonder why imprison benders who have been stripped of their bending? Is there a possibility they might recover, or were they held for leverage? Also. why did Amon want Tarlokk?
As for the relationship issue
Now I must go grumble. The season finale will be while I am out at Scout-Camp
Okay, first I want to give my reaction to the latest episode, and then I want to comment on some of the speculation.

Lots of thoughts now that I've seen "Out of the Past": I think Amon will use Tarrlok as some sort of example or bargaining chip. There will have to be more spirit world stuff. Amon has to have spoken to the spirits to have gained the knowledge of energy bending, so perhaps Korra will go there and explore. Maybe we'll see Koh again? Or Yue and Twi (or was it La)? Speaking of Koh, it's possible that was how Amon lost his face (as Dr.ElwinRansom has suggested elsewhere). Also, here is how I imagine the face off shown in the trailer for the finale: Amon will try to remove Korra's bending, but her will is going to be unbendable, and Amon will feel the backlash of that, possibly losing his own energybending ability. Alternatively, Korra could lose her bending (o_O) and then spend season two getting it back. Zuko most likely will be the character Dante Basco plays in "Skeletons in the Closet," which is a great name for an episode with lots of old secrets like what happened to Ursa, Zuko's mother. Also, I thought the line about Sokka's boomerang was slightly forced, but still in character. The most difficult thing to get used to in those sequences was the older voice actors.

From episode 10...
A few more thoughts after watching "Turning the Tides":
2) General Iroh (who it's been confirmed is Zuko's grandson) is going to come in and blast apart the Equalists.
3) Two best one-liners from this episode: Meelo - "Not NOW, Baby!" and Jinora - "Stay away from my dad's ex-girlfriend."
4) Naga's complete slam of Lieutenant was so awesome, I had to rewind and watch it again.
5) The most interesting Amon theory I have heard yet is that he is actually Bumi, Aang and Katara's non-bender son. I'm starting to like this theory, but I don't know how much weight it holds. I just don't trust Amon's statements about his history.

Wild theory on Amon
1) How did Amon know that Korra was in a metal box before even going down the stairs? Unless he had knowledge of the hidout in advance.
2) Why did we not see Tarlokk's whiny assistant affected when he bloodbent everyone else in the council chambers? Is it possible he is connected to the equalists?
Doubt he could be Amon. He is far too slender. But then Amon does wear armore.
Lots of thoughts now that I've seen "Out of the Past":
SpoilerI'm kind of glad that the Tarrlok is Amon theory is out. It was a fun theory, but it would have removed all the lovely tension they have added.
I was sure this was it. I was actually surprised that it wasn't. Now I'm extra anxious to find out the answer to this...
After watching the season finale I have an observation.
While I am still not thrilled with the "spiritual" aspect of the series pointing to reencarnation,
