A thread to discuss anything to do with these awesome Disney movies!

Do you own any of the movies? no, but I really want to get the first one.
Do you own any merch related to it? no but I want the soundtracks and a poster might be cool :)
Which movie is your favorite? The first one, definitely.
Are you excited for the fourth movie? Very, but I'm a little sad that Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom won't be in it.
Have you read any books based off the series? no but my sister has two. I just haven't had a chance to read them yet :)

Pirates 1 was an excellent film. It showed both sides of the piracy issue very well. Johnny Depp was excellent as Jack Sparrow. Orlando Bloom made a great Will Turner. Even Kiera Knightley played a good balance between a damsel in distress and a 'go-get-it-heroine'. Musical score was spectacular. Plot was excellent and Geoffery Rush as Barbossa is one of the better villians out there. Plus there is great sword play. What more can you want?

Dead Man's Chest as a stand-alone stunk. As a Part 1 of 2, it was great. Only the Cannibal island scene was out of place, and that was simply because they never came back to it. But At World's End was a massive let-down considering the build that DMC had. The characters fell through, the action wasn't even as impressive, and it flat out did not follow through what could have been. Best parts of DMC and AWE was the score. "The Krakan" and "Hoist the Colors" tracks are breathtaking.

I have very mixed feelings about the fourth. I'm glad Johnny Depp is returning as Jack, because he is the driving force for PotC. I just hope they don't try to copy what made CotBP so successful, because trying to ride on earlier success has always led to epic failure. It must be unique so we will see what happens.

Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.

Do you own any of the movies? Yes i own all of them

Do you own any merch related to it? I have some Jack Sparrow action figures and his native eye makeup from the second film :D

Which movie is your favorite? Hard because I love them all equally.

Are you excited for the fourth movie? I'm hyped about it, half the movie is shooting where I live is what I heard on the news a while back.

Have you read any books based off the series? I had no idea that there were books based on them till now. i always thought it was based on a Disney World Attraction.

i always thought it was based on a Disney World Attraction.

it is. I meant books that are based of the movie series. :)

Fencer: I agree with everything you wrote. AWE was actually very confusing to me. I hardly understood what was going on. I bawled at the end though :p .

I haven't seen any of the 'Pirates' films in a while. I actually find the 2nd and 3rd ones pretty boring. :-s :p However, Jack is awesome. He totally steals the show. :P Such an original character!

Do you own any of the movies? I believe my family owns the 2nd one, which is my least favorite of the 3 films by far, so I never watch it. ;))

Do you own any merch related to it? I have the soundtrack to 'At Worlds End' which I think is a really great soundtrack. :) I have to say, I love the scores to all the 'Pirate' films.

Which movie is your favorite? First one. It was clever and pretty fast paced.

Are you excited for the fourth movie? Not really. :P

Have you read any books based off the series? I didn't know there was such a thing. ;))

AWE was actually very confusing to me. I hardly understood what was going on. I bawled at the end though :p .

Definitely agree. The first time I watched AWE, I had absolutely no idea what was going on and I fell asleep about 3/4 a way through. ;)) I've seen it 2 more times now, so I think I get it.

Spoiler
However, I was actually kinda laughing at the end when Will 'dies'. :P I found it funny for some reason. ;))

I thoroughly enjoy this movies - Johnny Depp as Jack is wonderful. I also love Orlando Bloom as Will Turner and Keira Knightley as Elizabeth. Great characters and acting. Interestingly enough in no.2 I love the cannibal island scene FencerforJesus! :p

The soundtracks for all of them are fantastic. :D

The only thing I don't like about the movies is some of the content so I have decided not to watch them in anymore (a very hard thing to do in some aspects because they're so good). However, I may go against my own rule and see no. 4 when it comes out. ;)

I'm looking at getting the soundtrack for no. 3 as I can get it quite cheaply. The only reason I hesitate to get it is it might inspire me to watch the movies. :-

Do you own any of the movies?
No, but I should buy the first movie.

Do you own any merch related to it?
No, but the soundtracks are very enjoyable. I should buy them.

Which movie is your favorite?
The first one. I don't like the second movie all that much and the third is very convoluted but still has some very enjoyable scenes.

Are you excited for the fourth movie?
Not particularly but I'm interested to see what happens next.

Have you read any books based off the series?
There are books? No, I haven't.

Do you own any of the movies? No, but I borrow them all the time from a friend.

Do you own any merch related to it? Not really.

Which movie is your favorite? The first. The 2nd and 3rd were definitely not as good.

Are you excited for the fourth movie? Yup, yup!! Can't wait!!! :) It sounds good, but I'm sad that Will and Elizabeth won't be in it (although, Elizabeth did maintain the same facial expression through out all 3 movies and annoyed me greatly. Not saying that she wasn't a good character, cause she was.).

Have you read any books based off the series? I didn't know there were books.

Do you own any of the movies? Just the first and second (I wasn't a big fan of the third, so I probably won't end up getting it)

Do you own any merch related to it? Just a few of the soundtrack songs (Jack Sparrow and The Kraken from DMC, and Up is Down from AWE) and the piano books for 2 and 3.

Which movie is your favorite? The first one, although I really do like the second (even if I had to watch it a few times to understand it :P)

Are you excited for the fourth movie? Umm...not at the moment really I'd be looking forward to Jack and Barbossa (they're hilarious together ;)) ) but I just don't know how much farther they can really go with the series with the movies being good. Although it it turns out to be good, I will definitely see it, whether it be in theaters or on DVD.

Have you read any books based off the series? Uh, I have the, um, AWE picture book with a board game in the back :P (It was a gag gift)

I'm with GtG and PogginFan, I was pretty lost about what was going on until I saw DMC and ATE two times. Haha, I felt bad for him PogginFan, but

Spoiler
I think I would've been a lot more sad had he not betrayed nearly everyone earlier on. That always bugged me, because he's pretty loyal in the first and I liked that about his character 8-|

I own the first movie, and it's the best one by far in my opinion. The 2nd one is just ok, the 3rd is kinda boring.
I have the soundtrack to the first one, it's pretty good music. ;)

And I had no idea there was going to be a 4th movie.. sometimes I wonder what planet I'm on :p .

Do you own any of the movies? Well, my wife owns all three, which means I guess I own them too ;))

Do you own any merch related to it? No, but I wouldn't mind owning the Interceptor. Or at least a lifesize, working replica. Beautiful ship!

Which movie is your favorite? The first one...it's really the only watchable one. After my first (and second, and third, etc.) viewings of the 2nd and 3rd movies in the "trilogy" I was fairly convinced the Wachowski Brothers must have secretly taken over and applied their patented "Out of ideas, make it convoluted and confusing, load it with over the top special effects, and hope no one notices" system they used in the Matrix movies, another "trilogy" that shares much with PotC stylistically.

Are you excited for the fourth movie? *with as straight a face as he can muster* You betcha! 8-| . Actually my wife will want to see it, thus I'll end up seeing it anyways. =)) She loves these movies :) .

Have you read any books based off the series? No, didn't even know there were any, but then again I kinda got the idea they formulated much of it from the old Disney attraction (like DJP said earlier), maybe tossed in with some ideas from Treasure Island and Swiss Family Robinson, which Disney also made way back when.

Our family is not allowed to see the PotC movies because our mom thinks guys running around with eyeliner (Jack Sparrow :p ) are just too weird and that it will make us like "Bad guys" (because pirates are traditionally evil dudes). Also, she doesn't like the skeletal crew in the first movie.
So we beg and plead, but it doesn't look like we'll be seeing them any time soon! Oh, well. :|
