The Eleventh Doctor is excellent, and I really like what Smith is doing with the character. Amy Pond has a lot of potential; I thought she did a great job in the first two episodes and then in this last one seemed a bit much. The Beast Below was superbly imagined, but I agree, it had an enormous potential for terror and didn't quite live up to it the way it might have.
What I really appreciate about this new series, especially with Victory of the Daleks, is the way that (in general) the show is getting back to some of the fun of the old series. Eleven is much more like the old doctors even than Ten. I admit, after the overdone, constant drama of Davies, recent episodes seem to have slowed down a little, but I'm sure I'll get used to that. Of course I love the quality of Moffat's work, and I'm looking forward to more.
Wow! I'm so glad that a lot of you like Matt Smith! Especially since most of you were set on not liking him at first. Doctor transitions are hard, aren't they? I'm still getting used to all the newness. It just doesn't quite feel like Doctor Who, yet. But, if they kept the show the way it was, it wouldn't be Doctor Who. And I think most of the newness is brilliant.
Like Matt Smith.
Oh my goodness, he is an amazing actor! My sister and I were his number one fans by the time the first trailer of the fifth series came out! I know, it's a bit ridiculous, but we were so, so excited. To tell the truth, I was getting a bit tired of Ten. I mean, David is brilliant, but the Doctor has to change sooner or later or else he gets incredibly old. Ten was on the verge of getting old, so I'm glad they ended his run then instead of later. And Matt is brilliant! After seeing the opening scene of his at the end of Ten's last special, we were so, so hyped!!
I've only seen the first season thus far, but I'm not sure if I'm going to watch anymore of it until it comes out on DVD. I was really impressed with it, though I sort of get the feeling that Stephen Moffat is dead set on changing absolutely everything in the show. TARDIS, screwdrive, Doctor, companion, theme song, opening credits, etc, etc...
Ah, well. I guess I'll get used to it eventually.
Speaking of new companion, Amy sort of annoys me. I think the actress is really good, but I think they over did her a bit. Or maybe I'm just not British.
Hmm, I can understand why not all of Moffat's episodes or seriously creepy like Empty Child was. I mean, he was always famous for his scary episodes, but now that he's writing entire seasons, he's going to have to give his episodes a bit more of variety.
And what's this about Eleven being not as active as Ten?? It seems to me that Ten was the one who talked a whole lot (which he did brilliantly and was absolutely hilarious) and Eleven is more active!
Either way, they signed Matt on for like four years, so I'm guessing he's good. At least, they think he's good. And I think they're the experts here.
Sorry if I rambled a bit.

Last Sunday night I watched the Season 5 Premiere. The story was a bit unoriginal but still well-written and some of the CGI was awful but the acting was well done and the dialogue and humour were great (as were the scenes where the Doctor adjusts to his new body). Smith is proving to be a fascinating Doctor and Amelia is very pleasant on the eyes. All in all, it was very good.

I will never stop watching Doctor Who, no matter what happens on it, but I must say I wasn't expecting much from Matt Smith.
So far, I'm still indifferent. I was neutral on The Eleventh Hour, loved loved loved The Beast Below, and HATED Victory to the Daleks.
I typed up and posted all my comments about all three episodes on a different board, so I don't feel like doing so here (plus they're very long), so I will summarize:
The Eleventh Hour:
The writing made me laugh. "Beans are evil!" Or, "Aren't you going to turn your back?" Amy: [staring intently at the Doctor as he's undressing] Nope."
Having Matt step through the montage of all the Doctors was very contrived, but very effective.
New sonic screwdriver: NO! It's too big, and it's green.
New TARDIS: it sounds wrong. There's stupid random things on the console (a typewriter? WTHeck?) Does not like.
New title sequence: I love the visual effects. The theme music... not so much.
The Beast Below:
Victory to the Daleks:
I'm looking forward to the next episode, as it promises to be amazing. If it's not... I'm going to be angry that I was ever excited for DW to change hands. :/
Saw episode 2 of the new season last night.
I thought the second episode had a much stronger story than the first. The Doctor wasn't as quirky as before but Amy really shined in this episode. I don't feel the masked woman was the strongest actress, which is a shame given the importance of her role. The grinning creatures were terrifying until their expression turned evil, then they just looked silly. It wasn't a brilliant episode but it was very enjoyable and well-done.

Yeah, Amy was pretty awesome in this episode. I loved
Amy's line was classic. I thought that was a great line.
Please note that this Special Feature will be closing this Friday evening, May 14, after which feel free to discuss more "Doctor Who" in the Television thread. Thanks.

Suppose I should add my thoughts on recent episodes before this closes.
Can't wait for Saturday!
Lastly, for any Doctor Who fans: this is a must-see.
KATE! That video is stinkin' HILARIOUS!!! I was laughing so hard . . .
The Doctor references were BRILLIANT! Had me cracking up. And I LOVE David's Scottish accent! I've never heard it that plainly before.
Wow, I must see this again and again! Thanks for posting it!
P.S."Brooklyn!
