^ Oh definitely, I agree. Just look at the Psalms. David wasn't always writing about his "happy wonderful fluffy joy-filled" life. :) I get your meaning.

Exactly. Reading Pslams, one could be forgiven for thinking King David was bi-polar. ;)

...but the lyrics are largely negative and not in a way that describes struggles leading to a possible solution. More like this - 'life sucks, wah, wah'.

Haha, well music isn't always about looking for a solution, sometimes it can be just about getting your feelings out. I do admit, I mostly only listen to Linkin Park when I'm in a bad mood because it usually makes me feel better.

Because the discussion here has picked up, the closing for this Special Feature will be postponed.

Please do continue. :D

Mm1991, maybe I worded my post badly. It's true that music doesn't always need to provide a solution but if the songs are always complaining about life (this seems to often be the case) it is rather uncreative, immature and quickly becomes tiresome. As I mentioned previously, music should explore all avenues of the human condition. That's all I'm saying.

I get what you're saying W4J, and it's why I've pretty much glossed over the 90's entirely in terms of music. The 60's and 70's were the period of classic rock, the 80's were somewhat cheesy, but were all about having a good time with bands like Van Halen and Motley Crue. Once we got to the 90's, it all started to read like suicide notes *cough*StoneTemplePilots*cough* I don't like to overuse the word "emo", but that's basically what the last few decades have become.

I think the reason why I liked Linkin Park is because for one thing I do agree with you Warrior, I was going through a very hard time for a couple of years because I felt sick and didn't know what was wrong with me at the time and I felt hopeless until I found out in 2003 that it was epilepsy that was bringing me down. So yes music does have effect on people like that because some of the lyrics was how I felt at the time and I could relate to them. Now I very much dont which is probably why I don't listen to them anymore unless I hear a song by them on the radio or something.
