Note: Though most of Linkin Park songs are good and have no reason to raise any sort of moral controversy, some may not be family-friendly enough for kids. So please try to keep the discussion along the rules of the forum. With this out of the way, lets continue.
Linkin Park is one of my favourite bands. I don't listen to much music, but I do like their style. Not all of their songs are of my liking. Particularly the ones that contain some rapping. Though most of their songs are indeed very good. I am especially appealed by their style of writing: you can interpret the song to your own personal terms. For instance, "In The End" tells the pain of someone who has been betrayed by someone who he considers close. But you can easily apply this to a friend, a lover or even a parent. The same can be said for "Numb", or "New Divide". I really like this, because I can feel more attached to their songs due to how easily I can apply it to me. Other people could apply it to themselves, even if they do it from another perspective from mine.
To this date, I think "Meteora" is their best album. (A note of interest, the name of the album is inspired on the Meteora rock formations in Greece.) My favourite songs form the band come from this album. One issue I have with their music as stated before is that they sometimes implement rapping which just feels awful and out of place. Also, some of their more recent songs have some swearing, scarcely, but it is there. I personally prefer clean language, particularly in music. Regardless, they truly have shown a lot of maturity in their lyrics. While the albums "Hybrid Theory" and "Meteora" constantly had themes such as acceptance and pain due to betrayal; the newer songs are calmer and reflect a more mature view on life. Their new album has one song called "Iridescent" that I could have sworn it just came out of an album form Hillsong United.
Interestingly, I became a fan of their music the same year I established firmly as a Narnia fan. So, what are your thoughts about the band? Do you like their music? Which one? I'm sure there are not many fans of LP in the forum, but if you are please comment. It would be interesting to read some of the opinion other Nwebbers have.
"Through vigilance and strength we create peace."
I just want to be hidden in the shadows... this silence; this cold.
Surely there must be more Linkin Park fans here, so I'm moving it the first page again. (And thanks to waterkid72 for his interesting Intro.)
This Special Feature will be closing on Friday, February 18, so come post your thoughts, LP fans!

Wow, so my browser totally crashed and I lost my post.
Lets try this again - Granted I didn't do so well on staying on topic last time... So I'll try harder this time.
Wow, Linkin Park... Been a very long time since I've listened to them. Great Band. I love all the music I've heard from them.
Honestly though - I only know a handful of there songs... The 3 you named are great songs.
I also agree 100% I love how you can relate to the music... Thats why I love music so much - the more I can relate to a song the more I like it normally.
Hmm... I've not really heard any of there newer songs I guess then - because I've not heard them rap at all... I am a fan of rap... But I'm not sure if I would like for Linkin Park to rap or not...
In the End - Great song. This song... The first time I heard it was on a RuneScape music video (A music video made on RuneScape using the song). First time I ever heard Linkin Park to be honest.
I really really like the lyrics... I like the lyrics on all of there songs though.
But in the end is great - I love how the song starts - one thing about me is you have to pull me into it right away or I turn it off... I don't really like to "Try new songs" Unless a friend tells me to listen to it, I see it in a video or hear it on the radio I won't listen to it.
Really can relate to the songs well because I feel like I've been betrayed by one of my friends (But I won't go into that ). Loved the song before this and now even more - so its all good.
Albums... I don't really know much about there albums... Just know the 3 songs you mentioned and a few others.
If anyone would ask me if I was a fan of them I would probably say yes - because all the songs I've heard I love.
My all time favorite from them has to be "Given Up". I won't comment on it seeing as how... It isn't very NarniaWeb Friendly. But if you've heard the song you'll understand why its my favorite.
Swearing - I really don't mind when they swear in there songs... There are some songs where any other word besides a swear word - It just wouldn't fit... *Ducks from rotten tomatoes*
Now are there any songs from them that are a "Must listen to" For me? If so I can look them up.
If you've not heard 'Given up' waterkid, you need to look it up. But seeing as how you started this thread I'm sure you've at least heard it before.
Hmmm - I think thats all I have to say.
Anyways - over all - great band - Great music - great lyrics.
10/10

I used to be the biggest fan of Linkin park when i was younger, I even went and saw them in concert. I loved them because sometimes I could relate to their songs like "Numb" or "I wont be ignored" I guess I stopped being a big fan after they sung that song for transformers 2. Didn't like that movie or the song.
I really love their older music more! They're awesome!

I had the album Meteora a while back and those songs are really the only ones of that band I like. (Except for 'In The End')
My favorite songs would have to be 'Breaking The Habit' and 'Numb'.

I love Linkin Park! They are a great band. Yes I love Numb as well (I mean who doesn't....? )
I also liked the music they did for Transformers ("What I've done" and "New Divide.")
I like "Leave out all the Rest" and "Shadow of the Day" as well. Oh and so many more!

Like The Pendragon, I've only heard one Linkin Park song. (Leave out all the Rest) I like it, though.
Then again, when I hear things on the radio I don't always know who it is. So, for all I know I could have heard more. I only know I found out about that song from Narnia fan videos on youtube.
Are there any others you think I might like? (that don't have too many swear words?)
I like Linkin Park because you can get clean songs or clean versions and their lyrics aren't all glorifying immoral stuff.

Hm. I've really only heard Numb by them. But I liked it.

I used to like them but just because something doesn't have inappropriate content and bad language, doesn't mean the music is good. I agree that the tunes are catchy but the lyrics are largely negative and not in a way that describes struggles leading to a possible solution. More like this - 'life sucks, wah, wah'.

Yes I love "Shadow of the Day" and "Leave out all the rest." I actually meant to say "faint" instead of "I wont be ignored" in my previous comment.
It was actually the song "In The End" when I became a fan of the band. That song is amazing!

^ Warrior: Yeah, we had a friend that liked them, but just stopped listening to their music because it was so- depressing.
Music really effects your feelings. At least mine. So at least *I have to be careful what sort of emotions the music I listen to portrays.
That being said, yeah. I haven't heard enough of LP's stuff to really give an overview. But I'd agree with what you said, Warrior.

Please don't get me wrong. I don't believe we need to listen to happy, happy, joy, joy music all the type (good music should explore all avenues of the human condition) BUT music with largely negative lyrics will affect you, whether you realise it or not. There's a huge difference between the mentality that 'everything sucks' and that 'life is difficult, not always pleasant and we need to work through struggles' etc.
