My family are fairly large fans of the Get Smart show- my Dad grew up watching them on TV, and so a year ago he sort of "introduced" them to us, although it was my brother and I who first bought Season 1. We're currently halfway through Season 5 now.

Three favourite episodes? Hmmm.... That's hard, but some of the ones I liked the best are "Temporarily out of CONTROL", "My Nephew the Spy", "Strike While the Agent is Hot", "A Spy for A Spy", "Rub a Dub Dub, Three Spies in A Sub", and of course the three-parter "A Man Called Smart".

Oh, and my favourite characters are Max, 99, and Larabee.

Yay, I LOVE Get Smart!!! My dad introduced it to me. Actually, he used to always tell me about it, then a year or two ago (maybe more) we bought the first season and I was able to see for myself what a great show it was, and later I saw other seasons as well (I think up to season three). For the favorite character poll, I chose Max, 99, Hymie, and Seigfried. But they're all so great it's hard to choose.

Okay, favorite three episodes? Let me see if I can pick. As Foreverfan mentioned, "Rub-A-Dub-Dub: Three Spies In A Sub" was a great episode. Also "Hoo Done It", and "Casablanca" are great too.

Two of my favorite Smart catchphrases: "Sorry about that, Chief." and "Missed it by that much." (or variants thereof)

Haha, I love this show. Favorite character is Seigfried by far, his accent is a riot. Then Max is my second favorite, he's so stupid lol.

I have only ever seen the movie, and that was over a year ago. It probalay was nothign like the show.

Missed it by THAT much

Good friends recently acquired the first few seasons of this show on DVD, so we're refreshing our memories - and introducing the next generation to these goofy spies.

Episodes I like from those first 2 seasons include "Ship of Spies" (includes the deck chair scene and the 'clip-clop' sound, and 99 claiming fluency in Chinese).

"Casablanca" - a bit of a parody of the Bogart classic, 99 sings a couple of songs. Agent 13 appears in an airport locker, and Max's rubber neck saves him from The Choker.

"Stakeout on Blue Mist Mountain" - in which KAOS agents are smuggling in bomb parts one at a time and Max has trouble disarming it because his tie gets stuck. This one includes Ted Knight (from The Mary Tyler Moore Show) as a KAOS agent.

Speaking of guest stars, this series aired around the same time as the original Star Trek, and we've caught a number of guest stars who appeared in both series.

I really would love to know how they filmed the part when Max and the Kaos man are fighting underwater in the swimming pool! that was crazy!

I love this show, its so funny. My dad was a huge fan and he bought the first 3 seasons.

Max is of course my favorite character. Seigfried is a close second.

I know this sounds unusual, but I actually like Anne Hathaway's 99 (from the new movie) better then Barbra Feldon's.

I grew up watching Max, and 99 (yes that kind of dates me), and enjoyed every episode.
Cannot say I have a favorit. But I know I really enjoyed the ones where they spoofed the current movies, or cultural trends.
As for favorit characters, I have to go with Hymie, then Agent 13. How they got that poor guy in all those tight places must have mad him claustrophobic.

^^ the guy who played Agent 13 was claustrophobic! he said so himself in a thing he wrote about being the part of Agent 13! but he liked playing that part anyway
I love Hymie too, he's hilarious!

Loved this show when it played on Nick at Nite as a kid. Don't have a particular favorite episode (well I loved the one where Max and 99 investigated a circus, and one where Max was put in charge of a safecracker, strongman, and pickpocket-"Farley! Synchronize my watch!"), but I loved the Cone of Silence gag, and Shtarker, in describing the plans, would make the noise of the machine/weapon, with Siegfried's response: "Shtarker...Shtarker! This is KAOS. We don't ______ here."

Favorite characters: 99, Max, and Shtarker. For me, the order of favorites varies by the day (all the regular cast was so talented and perfect in their roles), so I voted for 99 and Shtarker. Everybody loves Max.

Hmm, narrowing down favorite episodes is harder, especially since lil' sis (SnowAngel) has practically the same favorites. Appointment in Sahara (season 2); The King Lives (season 3); and Snoopy, Max, and the Red Baron (season 4) are my current favorites. I haven't seen the entire series yet, but these three episodes really stand out. They seem to get more humorous with each viewing.

And now for the guest stars: Carol Burnett, James Cahn, and Howard Caine are the ones I enjoyed the most. Don Rickles was good, too, though I don't care for his trademark "dummy" nearly as much as Max's catchphrases. By the far the best of the scientists (IMHO) was Professor Parker (Milton Selzer). Previously, we knew him as a villain in Hogan's Heroes - I had no idea he could be so seriously funny with his inventions and gadgets!
