a thread to discuss anything related to Percy Jackson- books, movie, graphic novel, guides, etc.! Enjoy!
My new favorite series! My favorite characters are (in order): Nico, Percy, Grover, Annabeth, Apollo, Clarisse, Selina, Conner and Travis Stoll, Hermes, and Blackjack.
I don't have time to go into detail here (I'll have to save that post for later, along with a score of my favorite quotes and stuff), but I've read (and own) all five books and the Demigod Files. I don't have the guide, mainly because I hate, hate, HATE the pictures as they totally ruin my mental pictures of the characters. (And they have Nico's eyes as green. GREEN! And he's got the weirdest expression on his face . . . he doesn't even look Italian!)
Oh, and I'll rant about the movie too. Later. Right now I've got to go as I have a flight tomorrow that I have to get up at 4AM for.
P.S."Brooklyn!"
I love this series too- probably my favorite besides Narnia .
I don't ahve a list of favorite quotes or anything, but I remember liking quite a few . I read the books for the first time this past February. I saw the movie three weeks after it released too. I didn't really like the movie though. I own Sea of Monsters and Battle of the Labyrinth and I hope to get the other books soon, including the Demigod Files but never the Ultimate Guide, for the same reason as Ryan . The pictures are HIDEOUS! And Nico is the worst, he looks so wrong .
My favorite character is Percy, then Nico, then Apollo, Thalia, Grover, Annabeth, etc
I was going to see this at the cinema but never got around to it. The movie looks pretty good though.
Eh! I forgot Thalia. She's up there between Grover and Annabeth. ^^
*runs off to the airport* Man, it would be awesome if I had a Pegasus to ride about now, lol.
P.S."Brooklyn!"
^That would be awesome. Or hippocampi instead of boats. lol

I have everything you have, but my sis had the guide. I completely agree about Nico's pic(and almost everyone else's). Blech! I do love the pic of Morpheus though, hehe.
Oh,and I'm annoyed that Clarisse and Ares were cut out of the movie.
Alrightly favorite Gods...
Apollo
Morpheus (even though he's technically evil,he's still awesome! )
Dionysus
Hepaestus
Poisiden(I probably didn't spell that right )
Gotta run,but before I go,I just gotta say that Tyson is sooooo sweet!
yeah "Poisiden" is spelled like so "Poseidon"
yeah Tyson is sweet, I love him
ditto about Clarisse and Ares . That movie was pathetic- ruined alot of the story .
eidt: ooh I forgot Rachel! She's one of my fave characters too. Luke is a favorite too, I'm not sure where they place though...
The movie was reasonably good, just not a good adaption. At all. Unlike How to Train Your Dragon, which though very different from the book actually managed to come up with an excellent alternative storyline, the Percy Jackson movie seemed to cherry-pick moments from the book and then tie them together in a way that really didn't make very much sense.
I love these books. I've read them all, but I only own the first and last ones. I'm hoping to get the middle three sometime soon, especially as both Waterstones and WHSmith have them all on "3 for 2" at the moment!
Favourite character - I've no idea. They're all pretty good. I think Poseidon is wonderful, especially at the end of the fourth book! I really like how well all the characters fit the descriptions given by the old myths. None of them seem wrong from what I studied at school! The only thing I found a little hard to accept at first was that they'd all wear modern clothes!
And ... there's a graphic novel?
The only thing I found a little hard to accept at first was that they'd all wear modern clothes!
yeah I wasn't too happy with that. The only one I really minded though was Poseidon in a Hawaiian shirt and beach shorts. Really?
And ... there's a graphic novel?
yep, but I haven't read it.
Ditto about the movie, except I don't think it was "reasonably good". I thought it was just ok.
Oh,and I'm annoyed that Clarisse and Ares were cut out of the movie.
Clarisse, Ares, AND Mr D! I was so sad that Mr D was cut. He is awesome.
Anyway, I saw the movie - least favourite bits are Grover and whatshername, Annabeth in general ("I definitely have feelings for you, but I just don't know if they're positive or negative yet." Dearies, you've only known each other for about two hours. ) the last fight scene, PluggedinOnline's review ( ) and the ending. Luke was pretty cool though. Oh, and they filmed in British Columbia. Had I lived near Vancouver and had sword fighting skills at the time, I possibly could have been an extra. But I live too far away, and my sword fighting skills are non-existent anyway, but I like the idea.

I was so sad that Mr D was cut.
oh yeah him too.
You liked Luke? I thought they ruined him! And the guy the picked completely ruined my mental picture of him . You don't like the last fight scene though? The one with the water? I liked it besides the fact that it was too short. I hated the ending though *shudders* . Annabeth, Persephone, and Grover were HORRIBLE. I can't imagine them ruining their characters anymore.
I liked the movie's last fight scene, but it was between the wrong characters! I was really disappointed with Persephone, too. Though the book got the characters right, the film steamrolled over them!
Yeah, Mr D! Actually, I think he might be my favourite character. He would have been a great character in the movie, too - why would they have cut him?
I enjoyed the Zeus/Poseidon meeting at the beginning of the film, even though it immediately established a completely different story. Percy's "This is a PEN." line still makes me giggle.
I love the Percy Jackson books, but unfortunately I only own the first one (*sigh*). I got into them because I'm a huge fan of Greek mythology.
But I thought the movie was awful. The special effects were about the only good parts in the movie (though I did like movie-Grover. He was more comic relief than anything, I guess, but I still liked him). I mean, they ruined the whole Underworld part (making it all lava-and-skulls-y for one), especially with Persephone being there. It's SUMMER. She's supposed to be with DEMETER. And they made Hades evil, or at least eviller than in the book (I liked Hades in the book. While he wasn't the nicest guy, he wasn't EVIL). I could rant for hours about the movie...
^ditto to everything you said, minus liking the movie Grover. I didn't like him much at all. Too much of a playboy
Percy's "This is a PEN." line still makes me giggle.
I love that line!
I love the part in the movie where Percy freaks out after
Everyone else . . . a clue? No.
Movie!Grover did give me some laughs though. He was nothing like book!Grover whatsoever, but he did make me laugh as a comic relief. But book!Grover is 1,000 times better.
P.S."Brooklyn!"
