Warrior 4 Jesus,
That's the only thing I didn't like about Memento, the strong language, but the story is amazing. One reason why I love Nolan more now is that his movies have been gotten better, yet are now PG13 with little to no strong language.
The darkness in Nolan's movies I think it's among the better aspects of the movies. Because like you said, it's not dark for the sake of it. It's to make the movies more real and help the ending have more of an impact.
Yeah I don't care about strong language too much in films. I dislike it when people around me talk it.
That's strange, a lot of people around me think Joseph looks like Heath Ledger in a way and I just can't see it on film and when I saw him in person twenty feet away a few weeks ago. If others can see it then maybe he can take Heath's place as the Joker, though I was wanting Johnny Depp to do that and Joseph Gordon-Levitt play The Riddler.

DamselJillPole,
There actually will be no replacing The Joker, I believe Nolan himself stated the his storyline would end with TDK- at least as far has having an actor play him. I really like Johnny Depp, but I am hoping he doesn't get anywhere near the next Batman movie, I was all for it once upon a time, but I have rethought it and I just don't think he's right for it. Levitt I am really hoping does Riddler.
The problem with Depp is that any movie he's in instantly becomes a "Johnny Depp movie" ... and I really don't think his image should consume the next Batman movie so completely. I doubt that Nolan would involve him, and am glad that is so.
Re: the darkness of the movies, I hear what you people are saying, and am mentally nodding along with you. I don't mind darkness in movies per se, and see the reasons behind making movies so dark, but for some reason this bothers me a bit when it comes to Nolan's films. Personal reaction, I guess.

I didn't see a resemblance between JGL and Heath Ledger either until I saw pics of them side by side with them both having kinda scruffy beards. They looked close enough to be related. And it has been confirmed by Nolan that the Joker will not be back for the third film. I imagine there will still be some sort of mention of him. Maybe even Dr. Harleen Quinzel?
I was a fan of Johnny Depp as the Riddler, but the more I've thought about it, the less I like the idea. I just don't think his style of acting would fit the kind of story Nolan tells. Sure Depp does dark all the time in Tim Burton's movies, but that's a more whimsical kind of dark than Nolan's.
I would love Harley Quinn to be in the next Batman movie. She's a seriously messed-up young woman but unpredictable, 'fun'-loving and just plain interesting. But she's more a strong supporting character than main villain material. She's certainly fits the mood of Nolan's movies.
Lysander, fair enough. I understand. I don't watch only dark movies, I like to keep a good balance. Some of my favourites are Studio Ghibli films and the occasional comedy.

Doctor Who - Season 11
I would love Harleen Quinn to make an appearance soon in the Batman franchise. She's my second favorite. It's going to be tough doing the movies without Joker making some sort of appearance, I mean he is the top Batman villian in the DC comics whom appears a lot. We'll see how they fix it. Is Angelina Jolie still up for Catwoman?

In terms of physical appearance she'd pull off Cat Woman but I'm not sure Angelina Jolie has the acting chops needed for such a role. Still, I would prefer Riddler (with Harley Quinn) to Cat Woman.

Even were they to go with Catwoman as a villain, she's not really a movie-carrying character. She's basically a really good thief, not a psychotic murderer like the Joker. After viewing Inception, I think Marion Cotillard could make a fantastic Catwoman, but pretty much anyone would be preferable to Angelina Jolie.
But Catwoman always had the deep romantic storyline with Batman even though she is a villian, the both are the same in a way. i wanted to see this in the next Batman now that Rachel is gone.

3rd Batman,
I seriously hope Catwoman isn't in the movie. I was never a fan of hers, and I'm glad Nolan stated he doesn't want Penguin in the movies. oh and about Rachel, I still can't believe she's gone!
has anyone seen Momento? despite being downright vulgar in the language department I really enjoyed it. I am planning on watching The Prestige tomorrow. I think I've seen everything else that he has done

yup, I've seen Memento- aside of the vulgar language the story was brilliant!! However I don't have it in my collection nor will I include it either. Hope you enjoy The Prestige, you must let us know what you think of it.
Edit: I just finished watching Insomnia for the first time. Nolan did a fairly good job with that one. Pacino was great, and so were Williams and Swank.
However I prefer his more recent stuff.
Please note that this Special Feature will be closing on Friday, August 20, after which you may continue to talk about Christopher Nolan's films in the appropriate Movies thread.
