Narnian_at_heart, it is rather low-cut. I'm afraid most wedding dresses, at least these days, aren't quite modest, though.
Mel-y, the skirt is fine. However, it would probably do better with a more sedate top, like this Pnina design. It has the skirt, the flower, and a little beading, but is much, much prettier, I think. Personally, I'm not all that in to ballgowns, as they make me think I'm like the top half of a barbie stuck into a cake. Ballgowns really are the sort of style that you either look absolutely amazing in, or you look...like Mother Marshmallow from the Nutcracker. (Click here if you don't know what that looks like.)
I agree--a bodice would look MUCH better. Although, in this case, nearly anything would.
I watched episode 1 of this season today. It looks great! Slight caution, though--one of the girls, Laura, brought her dad, who makes an inappropriate comment at one point. I'm very surprised it made it into the episode!! I've not heard something like that in any of the other episodes.
Anyway, my thoughts on the episode:
I think I covered everything....Oh, yeah! I've been watching stuff from season 1. They packed like six brides into one episode! Its crazy!
Okay. Really done, now.

in your spoiler I'm actually not a huge fan of any of the dresses, the fiirst being my favorite but..... The first one is busy for me though she works it. The 2nd dress...hahaha what more can you say about that? The third dress is nice but very plain for me and feels decently cookie cutter wedding dress to me. I dont want something very plain but not like the first dress either

Mother Marshmallow? Seriously? Looks more like Mother Big-top to me...
*agrees that there aren't very many people who can pull off a 1860's ballgown -- but those who can look great*
I think I'm also getting a cookie cutter wedding dress vibe from the two 'normal' dresses in the spoiler. They're pretty but nothing outstanding. The feather one is silly. But I think i would have wanted to try it on too.

About those dresses in the spoiler: The first one, I'm not too big on. It's very pretty and I love the vintage look but I don't really like the layers on the skirt.
The second one ... yea, What's up with the thing on her head? Is that supposed to be some type of bonnet? Not only are the feathers bad but the styling of the dress itself leaves a lot to be desired. The skirt is just straight, no shaping whatsoever and then it just goes straight out like a rug at the bottom. And how high the waist is, it compacts her and makes her look very short with no torso whatsoever. The designer of that dress needs lessons!
The last one, I really like! It's simple and very pretty. I like the detailing at the waist.
Spoilers sprinkled around this post...I even broke my rule of looking at pictures from episodes I haven't watched.
I think the best thing about the chicken dress is when she starts acting like a chicken.
Mother Big Top, Mel... Yep. But that's how some of us look in ball gowns...as if we're wearing a big top.
Narnian_at_heart, some people like that look. It would probably look a lot better on someone who was more like six foot, but, still...as the consultant said, it looks like something Cher would have worn in the 80s.
I think episode 2 of this season is like for...really not pretty dresses. I didn't like any of them. I had to laugh at a few. This one is the best, although, I must say, I don't care for short wedding dresses. I really don't like the sheer midsections, like these two have. The last one is cute, beside the sheerness. Finally, I think we've seen this one before, and I didn't really like it then, but it looks worse now.
I do like this dress, which has a sort of Grecian feel to it. None of them were "WOW!" items, though. :/

* revives the thread *
I was looking through the pictures of season 3, and I was reminded about JB! I really like her, even though she's "newer". She just always seems so calm and collected, but still very alive. I quite like her. I also like Audrey, for the same reasons.
I'm somewhat disappointed in this season's dresses. The gold one I linked to earlier made an appearance, though!!
My least favorite dress made an appearance, too, though.
This is the dress that we all agreed we liked earlier. I think it looked better on Rachel than it does on this bride, though. Definitely goes to show that some things look amazing on one person and horrid on another. It isn't the fault of the dress or the designer--it isn't anyone's fault. It just doesn't go.
Does anyone remember the peacock feather dress from the fashion thread?? I think I've found something only a little less outrageous: this.

The last one looks like the whole dress is covered in white Butterflys! I almost like it! Kinda. Creative I will say. Who makes these dresses?

"Love NEVER fails"
I remember the peacock dress, and the owl dress.
I think the flower dress would work better as a stunt dress, and the asymmetrical strap doesn't fit the overall look; it interferes with the bride's face.

Mel, the Owl Dress was less ridiculous, and actually looked kinda cute--especially when you consider what it was made for!
Lady Lilliandil, Songul Sarpbas is the designer on the flower dress. And, when I look at the dress straight on, Mel is right--it does actually look nice without the strap. Looking through her other gowns, I had a few that reminded me of films. Is this reminiscent of Sweeny Todd, anyone? Or does anyone else think Phantom of the Opera? Of course, the smoke makes it look even...spookier.
Here are all of Songul Sarpbas dresses at Kleinfeld.

I actually never remember liking that dress *add giggle avvie here*
Its nice but a bit not my style
that wierd butterfly dress or something....what do you say about that?

I went ahead and sprung for the season on iTunes, and I'm really enjoying it. Now that I've watched the episodes (almost caught up!!), I can say that the Flower dress is a lot prettier when NOT in that picture. They ended up putting a hoop skirt under it, and it looked a lot better, and really gave her a tiny waist. Barbie doll, anyone?
I finally remembered my favorite consultant's name! It is Debbie. She always looks like a Meav to me, so I keep thinking that should be her name, even though I know it is not.
Okay, so, SPOILER ALERT!!!
I think this is a statement dress. Odd angle for a picture, but it is quite an amazing dress!! I like the limited rufflage. I'd give it an 8/10.
I'm really not sure what to think of this one.
This has got to be the only tulle dress I actually like. Too bad the crystals are so bulky--still, they're placed in good taste. This one might grow on me.

my favorite of those three is definitally the second dress!!! I actually really really love it I love the rouching (sp?)
the third dress- I've never lived tulle- so tht alone makes me not like it
the first dress is nice but I've never been that big on wedding drrsses that arnt all white (or at least in the picture it doesnt look all white) but its okay
NW twin to Georgiefan! NW sib to 22!

I dunno, I like ruching and the like, but I feel like I'm looking at a bunch of linens or something with the first one. That isn't even the right illustration, there's just something that bugs me about it. Well, to each his own, I suppose.
I don't usually like tulle, mainly because it usually makes someone look like a puffball. That one, though, is definitely much more classy and understated. * ducks the tomatoes from the tulle loving crowd *
Georgie, one neat thing about wedding dresses is, you can order them in any color imaginable!! In last Friday's, one woman
Now that I've written all of that, I've finally figured out why I don't like the second dress: I feel like it is a combination of Rachel's Dress and Niki's Dramatic Dress If I hadn't seen those two, I probably would like it a whole lot more, as it is a pretty dress.... * may be over-analyzing this one dress * Oh, and to top it all off, that particular bride (the one with the dress in question)
