coke is better then pepsi but fanta is the best.

I've about given up on soda altogether, but I'll drink a Sprite or 7Up at a party if there isn't anything else like lemonade or water.

I'm showing my age here but I remember back in the 80's what became known as the "Cola Wars". Coke and Pepsi were really going at each other hammer and tong. Pepsi had the slight lead in popularity...when it comes down to brass tacks Pepsi is sweeter than Coke. They taste different from one another, of course, but the biggest factor is the sweetness.

Coke saw that Pepsi had a slightly larger market share, and even though Coke had a huge hit with Diet Coke they were still getting the short end of the stick. So they came up with the idea of implementing "New Coke".

New Coke was initially a hit with the public. Coke's mistake was to get rid of the original formula that they'd been using time immemorial, and many in the public were outraged that they weren't given the choice of which Coke they'd like to have. There were huuuuuge TV ad campaigns launched by Coke to fix the problem, including a few starring Bill Cosby (as I recall). The secret of "New Coke" is that it's the same exact formula as Diet Coke, just with sugar in it in lieu of aspartame or saccharine. New Coke was a lot sweeter and tasted closer to Pepsi and with many proved to be a hit, but there were a large number of traditionalists (including my sister) that were very vocal about their love of the original formula. Stories about people stockpiling their old Coca-Cola so they wouldn't run out were rife and it seemed everyone was griping about it. At the peak of this cola hysteria Coca-Cola decided to kill New Coke and put back in place the old formula, forever after referred to as "Coca-Cola Classic" (if you ever wonder why it says that phrase on Coke bottles, now you know ). In the meantime Pepsi had a field day with Coke's indecision on the matter.

Oh bruther! Anyways, New Coke got the axe but didn't totally go away...it's now referred to as Coke II and is popular in certain overseas locales, but it was never seen in the US again.

As a result of this fiasco Coca-Cola's profits skyrocketed from grateful consumers who were happy to see their original product back on store shelves and ultimately Coca-Cola won the Cola Wars by winning the higher percentage of the soda drinking world's population.

Well you see, here in Russia soda isn't so popular. I generally have a sweet tooth, and usually can't resist sweet things. The only soda I tasted was Pepsie and Coke, and both are quite distasteful to me.

Fanta's pretty good. It's best known for the orange flavor, but I've seen grape and strawberry (they're both good) and have heard rumors there's a pineapple flavor somewhere. I read many years ago that's the world's 3rd best selling soft drink and was kinda surprised. Who knew people loved orange soda so much?

I don't drink a lot of soda, but when I do I'll generally go for either diet coke (or pepsi... to tell you the truth, I've never been able to tell the difference, nor do I really care), orangina (not very big in the US I think, but it's really popular in France) and ginger ale. What matters the most is how the soda is served. I hate it when it's packed with ice, but a few floating ice cubes are nice. My favourite way to drink ginger ale is actually on a plane, I just love their thin plastic cups for some reason! I find that the way I drink soda changes the way it tastes. Canned soda always tastes horrible.

Interesting. Is ginger ale the same thing as ginger beer?

^I don't know knoow this for a fact but according to a website (wikianswers maybe, I don't know.) ginger beer has a much stornger flavor. It is shorta like coke and pepsi (Which is why coke is better. )
