I am a bit into the forest temple, those spiders are so annoying. I had to kill one of them so those eyes would open at the same time.

Yeah, I died quite a few times trying to get those spiders to spin so I could kill them. I will say I hope you've been practicing your sword swinging because you have a mini-boss in that temple that puts up a pretty sweet fight, not to mention an epic orchestrated tune.

I just entered the 5th temple and decided it's a good get-off for the night moment. The temples have taken me about 2 hours to beat on average, which for me is awesome. I like long temples because they are challenging and fun. There are lots of save points in the temples too, but it's really annoying when you die in a temple, because it sends you back to the last save point you saved at and that can take some time to get back to where you were.

This game is a blast and I'm already keeping it high on the Zelda list for best games in the series. Game play is very smooth, but there is only one thing I don't like. It's very difficult to Z-target while using items. Graphics are still rated between Windwaker and Twilight Princess for me. Bosses have been a blast and are among the hardest I've had for first time but so much fun. The music has totally blown me away, especially the mini-boss, boss, and big-moment in the story tunes. Will be searching for soundtrack after completion of the game. And for the true fans of the series (meaning those who have played at least most of the games) will find numerous homages to previous games including puzzles, plot points, and items. The biggest challenge to the game for me at this point, however, is setting the controls down to do something else.

That skeleton wasn't as hard as i thought it would be. I am up to the 2nd temple now. Yes I don't like how you actually have to aim when ztargeting. the other games it would aim for you.

at least they have save points in the temple, unlike many of the other games. some of them you die and go back to the start.

I am having quite a bitter time right now. Due to college and malfunctions with the remote I have to stall my game. It is very sad because the game was starting to become so enjoyable to that point. I had found many heart pieces, uograded my shield, helped people and just finished the Trial of Courage when I just had to stop due to other issues I cannot help. I will have to halt my game time until mid December. :((

Ok, I suppose I will have to focus on college in the meantime and try to avoid any spoilers. Fencer[b/] I was just about to ask you how a fencer such as you felt the controls. It seems you are loving them and enjoing them a lot just like I am. I love the way you have to have a strategy as you fight and care where to attack, the angle and force, not just randomly swinging. And the sword beam is one of the best additions to your arsenal. It is free to use, doesnt need ammo and can be used for multiple uses, such as cutting grass quicker, enhancing your spin attack (charge it and them try an horizontal spin attack) and attacking foes such as Deku Babas, especially the yellow ones form safer distant, prettu cool, and even cooler that you decide the direction of the swing so your beam can be vertical, horizontal or vertical. Its hard to pull the horizontal slice, but once you have practiced and learn how to do it, the horizontal beam becomes very useful, B-) . The boss of the first and third temple were amazing, Ghirahim himself was so hard! The second boss was much more fun than I was expecting. Especially as it weakens, he becomes creepier with the row of teeth and the big moving eye. I will try to finish it as soon as I can. As far as I am concerned Skyward Sword has one of the best motion controls in any videogame. Any thoughts?

Bummer about your controls. I'm trying to finish it before I have to pack up my part of the room before my move and I think I am very close. I've beaten six temples and the bosses are absolutely a blast.

It is hard to do the horizontal slice without inadvertently doing a diagonal cut. As a fencer, we have a move call a flick, which is where we use a flick of our wrist and the flexibility of the fencing blade to curve around our opponent's guard or shoulder to hit them. Getting lots of practice with that. I will say Skyward Sword easily has the best sword action (outside anime cut scenes) in video games and from what I have experiences so far with the Wii best motion controls. I doubt the Playstation motion sensors or the XBox Kinect can come close to what Skyward Sword has pulled off.

The only thing I have found most annoying so far (I've been able to adapt to not being able to target easily with items.) is how much time it takes for me to get my Loftwing to climb when in the air.

But I'm having a blast and I'm looking forward to the finale. In all with gameplay, musical score, boss fights, temples, and such, Skyward Sword so far is already neck and neck with Ocarina of Time, Windwaker, and Twilight Princess for best game in the series. And this is without beating it.

I to have been having troubles how to pull the horizontal slice, Fencer, but once you learn how to do the horizontal beam it is pretty useful, especially againt enemies that deal a lot of damage and that are hard to avoid like Deku Babas and Moblins. As far as I know, Kinect is not the best way to do swordplay. Move on the other side is not really bad it is just underused. I think only Nintendo has actually cared to use their technology to do something good regarding swordplay, besides Wii Sports Resort and Red Steel 2 there is no other game in the market that uses motion controls this well with a sword; I suppose developers are afraid to try it.

Regrding your Loftwing, it is important for you shake the Wii Remote up and down to make it flap its wings and gain altitude. You just have to do that continously and in no time he will beging to go up. And press Z if you want an over the top view that allows you to land safely. Another advice is, I do not know If you've noticed some chunks of floating land that have a small hole through them. If you go through them, they will enhance your speed for a few seconds allowing you to shorten distance to whether you are going to. Another advice I have for you us to use Mushroom Spores. Have you noticed those huge fungi that have sparkles in them at times? Toss a bomb below them and let it explode. You will see how it produces a lot of spores. Take your bottle quickly and scoop those spores. You will recieve 5 free muschroom spores. These spores are excellent, because if you use them, they will fly in that area for some time. Bring an enemy to that area and it will be stunned for some time allowing you free space to attack endlessly! Its a very useful techniche to take down moblins which usually leave very little room to counter and it is hard to avoid their lance swipe. Just a little trick I found out ;) Have you been doing any other quests? Somem fo them are quite rewarding. One of them will give you an empty bottle, you have to help someone to rescue a family member that is not in Skyloft but on one of the islands.

Now I will try to patinetly wait until I get my new remote and I will continue my game!

I have been doing some of the side quests. I have three bottles, the best shield (need to upgrade it), can get up to 1900 rupees, and a few other things. Thanks for the tip with the Loftwing. I never did the tutorial. I prefer to figure these things out on my own, but knowing how to make it go higher by flapping the wings really makes a difference.

I had to get off just now after my first take at the final boss. I won't say too much to avoid spoilers but I will give you a hint that a shield will be one of your best friends in the finale. Epic sword duel showdown in epic scenery, and....yes, I'll use that word again because little else can describe it...epic score. Bring bottles with upgraded life potion. You will need it. I've hardly needed it for any other bosses but this one you will want them handy. Don't get fairies, they only do six hearts. Get the upgraded life potions. They are worth it.

I'll post again with me final review after I've beaten the game. I expect that to take place tonight.

EDIT!!!

I have beaten the game. Skyward Sword did not disappoint. It beat all my expectations (which were high) and will deserve of multiple play-throughs. But I cannot do that for a while. I'm just glad I was able to beat it before I had to pack up all my games for my move. I have to wait until we are set up at my new property before I can experience this game a second time. It took 45 hours for me to beat it (not getting everything), which seems to be about how long it took me to beat Twilight Princess.

I will say this. I've had games where after I beat them I feel good and enjoy it. But here, I just had to sit back and just listen in awe to the credits soundtrack. It like finished one of the best books you've ever read and have to have some downtime to process it. That is what Skyward Sword is like.

I am yet to complete it, I am about half way. I think I have only died twice the whole game. I hope the rest of the game is just as good.

How far are you? Beating the 3rd Temple is not enough to say you are halfway through. That's a major break in the course of the game, but time-wise, it's not halfway. There are seven temples in the game but nine bosses. And I'll give this one spoiler. Some bosses you face more than once.

Also, after you beat the same, there is a 2nd quest mode, called "Hero Mode". I have not played this one yet, mostly because my move is almost imminent. But I have heard from sources that the game play is MUCH harder. I'm looking forward to it.

I am up to the 4th temple i think anyway. I thought there were only 6 temples for some reason. I only play for about an hour a day. I don't want to rush through the game like I have with other games. The original 2 zelda games are by far the hardest games because it is so easy to die.

So I finally finished the game. It has been a long ride and there are many impressions I have. fisrt I have to say I love the controls. The pointer can cause some issues because it sometimes has to be recentered, but it overall works fantastic. I have some sort of division with the game and aspects of it. I really like the items and puzzles, but the dungeons are too short and mostly have one layer. (I prefer multi-layered dungeons like Wind Waker or Ocarina). I like the charcaters, but there is only one town and the world feels empty at times. I can say many more, such as the lack of a mini-map in the lower left side of the screen (you have no idea how many times I went lost due to this issue). Bosses are great, but some look rather wierd (tentalus...) and there are not many new enemies. Bokonblis are over.abundant and fill a little to overused. Yet, the game is overall fantatsic.

As I said, puzzles are smart and interesting (although it surprised me the lack of torch puzzles :(( ), enemeis are smarter than before, the story is great and has meny nods and references to previous Zelda´s (although I liked Twilight Princess story more) and gamepley lives up as you would expect. I really like some changes but miss others and dislike some changes, but overall this is agame I really recommend.

Skyward Sowrd may not be the best Zelda game for me, but it is one excellent Zelda game, that is the embodiment of what the series can do to innovate and that challenges tyhe indsutry standard of violent and mindless shooter woth a game that relies on great puzzles, fantastic story, innovvative design and a simple yet inspiring and touching story that needs no more than great presentation to leave an impression hard to forget.

Love it or hate it, this game has done many good things for this industry, and it wa worth the wait. Bring another one soon! :D
