"Who has a safety deposit box full of... money and six passports and a gun? Who has a bank account number in their hip? I come in here, and the first thing I'm doing is I'm catching the sightlines and looking for an exit. " - Jason Bourne

Welcome to the Bourne trilogy special feature. This is the place to talk about everything from the Bourne movies.

There are three movies; The Bourne Identity (2002), The Bourne Supremacy (2004), and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007).

Here are some questions to get the thread started.
1. Which movie is your favorite?
2. Why?
3. Which is your favorite car chase?
4. Any favorite quotes?
5. Did you watch the Mythbusters test the Bourne Magazine?

1. Which movie is your favorite?
The first - The Bourne Identity

2. Why?
It's the original and the best. Just a tight, fun thriller.

3. Which is your favorite car chase?
Yes, there's the mini going down the flights of stairs in the original, but my favourite car chase has to be the brutal taxi chase in The Bourne Supremacy.

4. Any favorite quotes?
Can't remember any at the moment.

5. Did you watch the Mythbusters test the Bourne Magazine?
No, I didn't see it. Was it good?

I enjoy all the movies but the camera work in the third movie - The Bourne Ultimatum, was too crazy for my liking (and I have no problem with what Cloverfield did!)

Currently watching:
Doctor Who - Season 11

I second that. It was really hard to watch TBU the last time I saw it. The whippy camera angles were driving my eyes crazy. [-(

1. Which movie is your favorite? The Bourne Identity :D

2. Why? It’s the original, and it has the best plot.

3. Which is your favorite car chase? The one in TBI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ETruidd5lQ

4. Any favorite quotes? Yes. This conversion from Identity is funny. :)

Jason Bourne: What happened?
Marie: Nothing.
Jason Bourne: Did something go wrong?
Marie: I've got the records. This guy at the front desk was smiling at me, so I thought, all this trouble, maybe it's easier to just ask for them.
Jason Bourne: You have the bill?
Marie: [pulling paper from pocket] He made me a photocopy.
Jason Bourne: [incredulous] You just asked for it?
Marie: I said I was Mr. Kane's personal assistant.
Jason Bourne: [pause] Oh. Okay. Good thinking.

5. Did you watch the Mythbusters test the Bourne Magazine? Yes. It was pretty cool.

Spoiler
But I was disappointed it didn't work. :(

My favorite is The Bourne Ultimatum, though Identity is a very close second. While I enjoy Supremacy it's easily my least favorite in the series. I've actually been wanting to re-watch these, but am postponing until later this year.

I can't really answer any of the other questions since it's been some time since I watch the movies. I am looking forward to the future Bourne Legacy. :)

I forgot to add that the last time I watched Ultimatum, I was at a hotel and the TV was at a horrible angle. So that might have been part of it. :)

I was talking to my brother at supper and he asked Dad which movie is his favorite. And Dad said it had been so long since he had seen the first two movies, he wasn't sure. So, my Dad and brother decided they want to watch Identity tomorrow night. It's been almost 5 months since the last time we watched it, so I really glad we're going to watch it tomorrow.

My older sister, Scarlet_Trefoil, has promised me she will post at least once and I'm going to make her keep her promise. :D

1. Which movie is your favorite?
Can't decide between The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Ultimatum.

2. Why?
I like how Julia Stiles is a main character in TBU, and it has the best conclusive ending of all the 3. But TBI is the first one and is just kinda extra special. ;)

3. Which is your favorite car chase?
The Bourne Supremacy takes the cake on this, with Bourne in the taxi and the great Karl Urban :p

4. Any favorite quotes?
"Do you even know why you're supposed to kill me? Look at us. Look at what they make you give."
"Get some rest, Pam. You look tired."
"However, after a three day search, Webb's body has yet to be found."

5. Did you watch the Mythbusters test the Bourne Magazine?
YES, gotta love mythbusters

I watched The Bourne Identity recently with friends. While I've seen all 3 movies, this was the first time in quite a while I'd watched one of them. I do think Identity is my favorite....once all the summer activities quiet down I think I'll watch the others again too.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

We watched Identity on June 26th. It was a lot fun to watch it with my parents, since they don't usually get to watch movies with us big kids. I was rubbing my Dad's feet during the first half of the movie and I could feel how tense he was during the car chase. ;) It's was kind of funny.

Okay, so if you could change the music from the end of any of the movies, what would you change it to? I think Gone by Third Day would be really cool for Identity. ;)

Some more quotes from TBI....
Jason Bourne: How could I forget about you? You're the only person I know.

Marie: I guess you're not home.

[during the car chase]
Jason Bourne: So...
Marie: What?
Jason Bourne: ...we got a bump coming up.
[drives the car down a flight of stairs]

1. Which movie is your favorite?
Like I answered in the poll, I can't pick just one! I actually have a hard time separating them in my mind after I watch them, since to me, it seems like the same basic story over and over again: Bourne on the run from the authorities. This doesn't mean at all that I don't like them or don't find them interesting - the variety of methods which Bourne uses to consistently escape from and, at times, completely confuse his pursuers, time and time again, constantly amaze and amuse me - but, after watching them, I just have a hard time separating them into three distinct stories in my mind; I tend to get confused as to what happens in which movie!

2. Why?
Not applicable. :)

3. Which is your favorite car chase?
None of them! I can't stand car chases! They really seem like a waste of time to me - not really developing the story at all. They're just the blur and noise of vehicles and I really don't understand what people see in them and what the big deal about them is! :p

4. Any favorite quotes?

Jason Bourne: How could I forget about you? You're the only person I know.

Marie: I guess you're not home.

Bourne: "Get some rest, Pam. You look tired."

SnowAngel and TheGeneral, these are a few of my favourite quotes, too! But the first one I thought of when I read this question was this one, I think from near the end of Ultimatum: (I'm just quoting this from memory so it might not be exact.)

[Noah Vosen is in a car, talking on the phone with Bourne.]
Bourne: Where are you?
Vosen: I'm sitting in my office.
Bourne: I doubt that.
Vosen: Why would you doubt that?
Bourne: Because if you were in your office, we'd be having this conversation face-to-face. [Bourne hangs up.]

I also love this one (again from memory). (But I can't recall which movie it's from.):

[Pamela Landy is talking on the phone with Bourne.]
Bourne: I want to come in with someone I know. There was a girl, with Treadstone from the beginning.
Landy: What if I can't find her?
Bourne: It's easy: she's standing right next to you. [Landy looks around, wildly, realizing that Bourne is watching her.]

I love how in both of these quotes, as well as in the one by TheGeneral, Bourne demonstrates again how he is consistently one step ahead of those trying to find him, and his pursuers are left dumbfounded by his skills and cleverness, as am I! His character is truly brilliant!

5. Did you watch the Mythbusters test the Bourne Magazine?
No, I didn't. But it sounds interesting! :)

Okay, so if you could change the music from the end of any of the movies, what would you change it to? I think Gone by Third Day would be really cool for Identity. ;)

That's a really good question! But, although I don't know what I'd change it to, I can say that, personally, I am really not fond of the song at the end of the movies. For one thing, I think it's the same song at the end of all three movies! And I just find it really annoying. :p

A couple more things: Firstly, I really like the character of Pamela Landy. I like how she's not just out to get Bourne because she thinks he's a threat, like all of the others are. In fact, she makes it clear, I think in Ultimatum, that she thinks the opposite about him, when she says this (direct quote):

"...some people are convinced [Bourne's] still a threat. I disagree but to find out I need to talk to him."

She's not biased, like so many of the others are, convinced that Bourne's a "bad guy", and out to get them. She doesn't want him killed for no reason, like them (although they think they have a good reason); she just wants to know the truth, and to find that truth she has to find and talk to Bourne. So, aside from the others' goal of wanting Bourne killed, she has the same mission as them: to find Bourne. But she has a very different, and objective, opinion of him, which I love.

Lastly, the only few things I don't like about the Bourne movies are:

-the misuse of God's name, multiple times. This was quite offensive, and wasn't necessary at all, in my opinion. I know by using God's name, it signifies the intensity of each situation it's used in, but I'm sure they could have chosen other words that would convey the same intensity.

-the (few) sexual scenes (like Marie and Bourne kissing, her only in a bra, and him with no shirt on). From what I've heard, though, the book(s) that the movies are based on have more sexual scenes; I've heard that the movies toned down on this aspect, something that Hollywood is not known for nowadays. I'm very thankful that the movie-makers decided to cut down on some of these parts!

Aside from these two issues, however, I think these movies are very well done, and most entertaining! :)

Ha, ha! You must be a girl then. Most (not all) girls struggle to understand the interest and primal power many (not all) guys find in cars. I wouldn't say that car chases don't develop the story - often the main character has to get from Point A to Point B and conflict has to happen to prevent them from reaching their goal too soon. Car chases can be just loud noise and padding but a well-done car chase develops the story or character (or both) and is exciting to boot.

Okay, W4J, I can see your point how car chases can develop the story in a movie. But I still don't like them! :p

Oh, that's cool! I didn't know there was going to be a fourth Bourne movie. I hope it's with Matt Damon. He just is Bourne! (Although he might be getting kind of old - I think he's already 40!! I can't believe that!! :-o ) I hope The Bourne Legacy is as good as the first three, too.

Nope Matt Damon isn't part of it. The lead is said to be Jeremy Renner, (The Hurt Locker, The Town). He won't be playing the role of Jason Bourne either. I'm not to familiar with the storyline though.

Exactly! A lot of movies have them these days, but the ones in the Bourne movies are quite imaginative and unique.

Even better than the car chase scenes though, in my opinion, are Bourne's one-on-one fights. Especially the fight with Desh, it's so brutal and intense.

^^

Whoever posted those, those are two of my favorites too.

I love the Bourne movies. I watched them for the first time a few weeks ago. The first one is my favorite but just barely. They're all amazing.

Also, I am a girl and I like the car chases. But then, I tend to like more "guy" movies. I laugh during the sad parts in chick flicks when my friends persuade me to watch them.

Me too. My sisters love to watch Jane Austen movies, but I'd rather watch the Bourne movies, Gladiator, or Band of Brothers. :D

That's one of my favorite quotes. :)

I was hoping we'd watch Supremacy and Ultimatum sometime soon, but I don't think that will happen. My brother is not in the mood for them right now and since we're in the middle of watching Gladiator, it will probably be while before we'll finish the trilogy.
