Oh dear. Yes, that doors to the heart scene was baaad.
Ingrid Bergman is absolutely amazing but maybe I'm just obsessed with her.

Doctor Who - Season 11
Don't worry: I am too. And it appears Hitch was as well, as both Notorious and Under Capricorn were conceived as vehicles to showcase her talent.

I saw "The Man who Knew Too Much" last night, one of Hitchcock's earliest ones. It was...interesting I'm afriad to say my mom and I were laughing uproarisly and it wasn't supposed to be funny. Some of the acting was a bit off, and there was a rather amusing strangling scene. So, don't watch it unless you want a good laugh.

I very recently rewatched The Birds just because of this SF and came to a few conclusions since I last saw it many years ago.
- The movie is a bit unsettling, but I wouldn't call it scary
- My wife saw Hitchcock's cameo before I did (he's apparently just outside the birdstore window at the very beginning of the movie)
- Rod Taylor is definitely one of my favorite actors of that era
- The movie never explains why the attacks are happening, however it is suggested roughly half way through the movie that it may be for environmental reasons. If true wouldn't that make The Birds one of the earliest Enviro-Disaster genre films in the world?
- Personally I think the birds are attacking because Suzanne Pleshette and Tippi Hedren just light up and smoke in everyone's houses they come across. I suspect the birds work for those Truth commercial people.
- Yes, my friends...that IS Jessica Tandy minus 30-40 years of age! My wife couldn't believe it.
- Rod Taylor referring to his mother as "Dear" bothered me worse than the avian menace.
- If your chickens aren't eating their feed you'd best start boarding up your windows now because they are coming.
- A combination post office/gas station/grocery store is absolute genius! Why did no one think of this before?
- There's a very young Veronica Cartwright in the film, starring as Rod Taylor's little sister Cathy. Long before she became Navigator Lambert in Alien.
- Being tall, blonde, and aesthetically pleasing will breeze a woman out of a lot of trouble in life. But seagulls will want to eat you. Not a good tradeoff.
- It occurred to me that Tippi Hedren's character was meant to be something like an educated, well articulated, and mischievous version of a certain modern-day blonde heiress of a major worldwide hotel chain who's constantly in the news, and who will remain unnamed.
- Tippi Hedren's character was kind of a....stalker...
I really enjoyed the film quite a bit, even if it ended without much closure. The scene of swarms of birds gathering over Bodega Bay was nicely rendered and the image that sticks with me as I write this. Definitely recommended.

Haha, I know who you're talking about and I completely agree. It's a bit creepy how similair they look. When we were watching it a while back, just after I thought that, my Dad said "you know, she really looks like someone...one of those Hilton girls." That, and the fact that I CAN'T FIGURE THE POINT OF THE MOVIE OUT!!! is the only annoying thing about the film
