I always seem to know how to start and how to finish a story but not how to get from A to B...

I have the same problem. I always know how to start and end a story, but writing the middle seems near impossible most of the time. Sometimes I know what needs to happen in between, but most of the time I don't. It's very frustrating.

Oh, I know! I'm the exact same way. I always know pretty much how I want it to begin and I always know exactly how it's going to end. My NaNo novel I still haven't finished. I know exactly how I want it to end and had it written in my head exactly how it would go before November even started. Now I'm 53k into it and I don't know how to make where I'm at link up with the ending in my head. :p

Lucy of Narnia, I don't remember if it was in this thread, or in the Script Frenzy forums that I found this link to John August's screenwriting tips, but I've been perusing it for the last few days.

On the advice of the people in this thread, I've looked at some scripts and watched movies and TV shows thinking about "How was this written in the script?". I think you kind of get a feel for what it should look like and then it doesn't seem all that complicated again.

As for your characters, I think that as you write them they will evolve some more and any possible similarities won't be a problem at the end of the story. :)

Thank you Meltintalle! :D I think I'm okay with the format now and I do think that if I just keep shoving the images of Su and Lu from my mind, my characters will be alright. ;))

I finally started some planning today! I just started writing down what I want to do with the plot and I figured out which order I'm going to use...

I'm about halfway through planning LWW and I will hopefully get through it and start HHB tonight, but who knows with homework.

As for the order I am forseeing somebody asking me which order I am using, (this is a narnia forum after all :P ) the answer is neither... I'm making it mostly chronological except for MN, which I'm telling as a flashback. I'm starting with LWW (except the last chapter), then HHB (followed by the last chapter of LWW), then MN, then PC (possibly reorganized like the walden movie), VDT, SC (again slightly reorganized) and LB. Other than the addition/ editing of a few characters and some scenes I'm trying to stay as close to the book as possible.

Cool! :) I really want to read your finished project! That will be awesome .

By the way, how are you going to work LWW, PC and VDT- them having been made into movies already? I mean, I know a lot of people have problems with VDT, so that one has alooot of room to change. But I personally like PC (other than the added romance (Su and Caspian) a rivalry between Peter and Caspian) and I love LWW. So are you going to follow the films, changing what you didn't like and adding any parts that were left out? Or are you going to try to push thoughts of George-Lucy and Skandar-Ed far from your mind and remake the movies entirely? :)

And I have a request for your LWW screenplay: could you put in the part about the fox and the baby squirrels at the feast when the WW turns them into stone? I love the part that basically says (my memory's version :p )

White Witch: Father Christmas did not give you that food.

Baby Squirrel (freaking out and banging spoon): He did! He did! He did!

;)) I love that part! :)

Some parts I'm gonna stick close too in the films, especially with the first two, I'm including Gael too... but changing her backstory. There will be no extra romances, rivalries or evil mist though ;)

Oh actually I forgot about that part, thanks :)

(That part is so sad though!)

Ooh I like that idea :) I started outlining HHB today (second in the order I'm doing them in) Hopefully I'll finish outlining it and start work on MN over the weekend (I'm already at 12 handwritten pages of outline and thats with just over one book! :-o )

^Wolfy, this is going to be a massive, awesome project! You will have to work the hardest, but you will be the most rewarded when you hold that script in your hand (or see it on your computer ;)) )! You are very brave to take on such a task. :)

Hey, maybe you should send your MN script to Fox/Walden when you are done. You never know!!! :D

I think that would go against copyright legislation :P

But if they ever want somebody (who doesn't have much experience with scripts, but does have some in other forms of writing, and is a huge Narnia fan) for a scriptwriter for SC, HHB, or LB ... I'm always available ;)

How's everyone else's projects going?

I'm supposed to be finishing my character questionnaires. They are mentally-frustrating (having to be so creative, especially about stuff that seems unimportant, like what food they eat and what music they listen to 8-| ) so I haven't finished them. I need to finish the kids' ones by March 31st so I'm ready for Screnzy, but any other characters I think I'll fill theirs out as they come into the story, before I write their lines, etc. :)

I have a Question. When you submit your work to this place can you also submit it into wga.org? The Writers Guild Of America. I just didn't know if it was forbidden or not. I send in all of my scripts to WGA because I want people from Hollywood to see them and I didn't want to upload anything to script frenzy without knowing this. Thanks!

It's not the script written (the words) that count for Script Frenzy, DJP. No one can even read it; check out the copyright agreement on the script frenzy site! It's just the amount of pages submitted. You could write a hundred pages of blather and you would still "win".

The way they do things, though, is by an honor system. Sure, you'd have "won" with the blather, but what good does that do for you? You wouldn't have a lovely, shiny script after the end of April.

So, in short, Script Frenzy has no rights to your actual script. If you're nervous about them getting the rights anyways, then you can upload the equivalent amount of pages that you've written, but filled with blather.

Besides that, who would care very much if they did see your script idea? It's a messy first draft! ;))

Simply follow where I lead;
let me teach you how to dance."

Okay thanks I think I get it now. BTW I wrote a feature length script under a month for my professor who is a real producer and scriptwriter for Hollywood and already he's trying to get people at paramount to see it. So it's true a first draft can come out neat.

^Yeah, I'm nervous that mine won't though- it could be reaaaal messy. Let's hope mine is half as neat as yours. ;))

Seriously though, that is amazing about your script being looked at. :D

Does anyone else do blog posts from the POV of their character? I tried one and might do more. :D (I'm just using Microsoft Word and 'pretending' it's their 'blog')
