Welcome all Screnziers!
First of all, for all of you who don't know what Script Frenzy is: Script Frenzy is a basically a challenge to all writers and non-writers, to write a screenplay, graphic novel, stage play etc. script of one hundred pages in the month of April. There is more information at the Script Frenzy site.
I've never tried it before, but it seems like a blast. I know NanoWrimo was!
A few questions to kick-start the conversation:
What type of script are you writing?
Have you done this before? (If so, do you have any tips for us poor lowly newbies?)
Are you planning on writing with someone?
This topic was Moderator-approved.

I'd not heard of Script Frenzy before getting an introductory email from them (as a former NaNo participant) - though I'd heard of NaNo before last year's first attempt.
I'm actually still editing that NaNo story, so I won't be doing Script Frenzy this time. While I've written a lot of prose stories, I've never tried my hand at a script so it would certainly be a challenge.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed looking at some of the links posted on the Script Frenzy site - some of the tips I picked up have helped me in my story writing (I mentioned some here).
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
stargazer, I hadn't heard of it before I got the introductory email, either. I've given up on my NaNo story, so no conflict there.
I suppose I should answer my own questions:
1.What type of script are you writing? A screenplay.
2.Have you done this before? (If so, do you have any tips for us poor lowly newbies?) Nope. Unfortunately, no.
3.Are you planning on writing with someone? Yup, my sister.

Heyloooo! I actually had heard of it before. Last November.
1.What type of script are you writing? A screenplay.
2.Have you done this before? (If so, do you have any tips for us poor lowly newbies?) Nope, never.
3.Are you planning on writing with someone? Nope. None but me.
The screenplay I'm writing is sort of historical/dramaish. It's about Richard III and that usurper Henry Tudor. Because, by the by, Richard did NOT murder his nephews, or anyone else. That's just nonsense. I'm basing the screenplay on the research I've been doing for a paper I'm going to write. (Going to being the operative words here. )
What is your screenplay going to be about, WinterStar?
"To love at all is to be vulnerable.
Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken."
C.S. Lewis
Ooh, Starsy, it sounds interesting. Just don't base your paper off your screenplay.
Mine's going to be a kind of retelling of Robin Hood, set in modern day America. I say "a kind of" because the good guys don't actually steal stuff, they just run around helping people. Also, the MC is the Maid Marian character, which makes it all the more difficult.
EDIT: And so it begins! I haven't got a whole lot to say, since I'm struggling to start mine. Anyhow, Happy Screnzing!

Hello fellow Screnzy-ers!
Glad to see that we have a Script Frenzy thread!
What type of script are you writing? Screenplay
Have you done this before? I'm a newbie. But I have written a script before. Last summer I wrote a 40 page script in about two weeks. So I'm pretty confident that I can make it to 100 pages...as long as my story holds out.
Are you planning on writing with someone? Nope. Just me, myself, and I. It's probably a good thing too, seeing as I normally enjoy making the story go the way I want it to go. Yeah, I have a tough time in RPs.
So, my script is an historical fiction, set in 1850s "Bleeding" Kansas. It has quite a few characters that are the "main" characters, which should be pretty fun. Of course there is a romance (:x), actually two. One just sorta popped up as I was writing the outlines. Yeah, should be fun.

Destined and I are doing it together! We got about just over four pages tonight, according to the Scripped program/site. It is amazingly fun.
So we're thinking that we're doing a regular stage script at this point. (Right Destined?) I don't feel up to saying what it's about right now.
This is a first for both of us, too. It is so delightful to me. . . to be writing, and watching the characters come alive so vividly; to be able to line up all the words the right distance from the edge of the page. . . Anyway, I'm enjoying it hugely, from the perspective of 1/30th of the way through. That's all I can think to say right now.
Happy writing, everybody!

It's a blast to do only for people who love it and are deeply professional at it. I've written about five and took screenwriting courses. For those who want to be interested in it I recommend you read the book: The Writer's Journey by Christopher Vogler
In order to be part of the frenzy you got to know the material to make a good story. If you read this book your story will reach higher potenial then any story or movie out there.

Destined and I are up to 11 pages, and we've finished our first scene! We just cut out three or four characters that we had at the outset, because they were all supposed to be main characters, and cluttering it up. It should be more fun, now, since I don't have to make myself like characters who really had little hope of being likable.
What are y'alls' Script Frenzy names? So we can add each other as writing buddies. I'm Betsie here and there. Destined is Desmonda.

I note your use of the word "only". Are you implying that it's not fun for people who aren't professional at it? Supposing they just do it for fun, like I do? Because I definitely have a good time. It's a marvelous challenge and jumpstarts my writing for sure.
I'm writing a Screenplay, tentatively titled: Caught by Surprise.
I did it last year and won (thank heavens), so I came back for this year. Unfortunately, I'm terribly behind.
Also, I'm writing alone. It would certainly be interesting to try writing with someone, though!
My script is set in modern-day New York. It revolves around the lives of a man and a woman who are completely different from each other. The girl is sick of love because she thinks that in a romantic relationship a guy will only lust after her, and she's tired of being objectified. The man comes into her life and starts to change that thought process because of the way he treats her--respectfully. He's not perfect, though.
The idea came to me during NaNoWriMo, and I wasn't sure if I would write it out for Screnzy, but I decided to try.
And here, my friends, is the poster I made for it. Enjoy!
The girl (it's Adie Camp) looks way too happy, but I couldn't find any pictures of her big enough that didn't.

No what I necessarily meant was that if people love it and wanted to go professional at it (you know like for entering festivals of web cams) to bring more enlightenment to their stories I was nice enough to recommend the book "The Writer's Journey: By Joseph Campbell"
There are certain types of film techniques that will draw peoples attention and 'The Heroic Journey' is.
When you think of movies like; The Wizard of Oz, Lord of the Rings, The Godfather 1&2, The Lion King, Star Wars, The beginning of Superman, Stardust
all these movies follow that same structure within a Heroic Journey that draws people in to everything.
I was only giving advice to those who do it for fun if you wanted to learn this technique.
I myself used to do this kind of stuff for fun as well. Then when I started a film course my professor asked if any of us wrote screenplays. I gave an example of one that I was already writing and he handed it back to me within a minute and told me that if this was ever a movie or play the people would eat me up. So I guess I've turned hardcore when it comes to writing after all the critisim and no one should handle those kind of critics.
But yes I understand if people write for fun and only that. I just wanted to write a piece of advice if you wanted to go professional before going into that dog eat, eat dog world.
BTW that is nice looking poster!

Alright, thanks, DamselJillPole! I was confused as to what you meant, but you've clarified quite nicely.
I may have to check that book out of the Library! As I'm interested in ScreenWriting as a career, it'd be good to do some research in that arena.
Question, cause I'm curious: So do you think that movies should all have the same sort of elements and format so as to draw people in, or were you just listing examples of films that are good and do draw people in?
Thanks very much! I like it too.

There's also different techniques to use out there and the movies that I listed are the movies that are phenomenons I listed were a few examples in the book I started reading about a year ago.
It makes you look at stories in a completely different light. Take a movie or story for example that you know and start asking questions about it, your archetypes are: about the main character, who is her/his mentor, who's his/her threshold guardian, what is his/her shadow, who are the allies and who are the enemies. And the Shapeshifter can either be the hero or anyone.
What's the character like in the beginning? Does he/she change or changes another character?
The movies that I listed had all these Guides. If it helps but it doesn't always have to be there if you dont want but i like to follow it.
Act 1: 1. Ordinary World
2. Call To Adventure
3. Refusal Of The Call- really dont need this
4. Meeting With Mentor
5. Crossing First Threshold
6. Tests,Allies,Enemies
Act 2: 7. Approach The Inmost Cave
8. Ordeal
Act 3: 9. Reward
10. The Road Back
11. Resurrection
12. Return
Others follow differently but I have to say this is the best structure ever to follow in my opinion, because you can connect with stories like these I feel and it is also the same structure of LWW and SC.

Me and my sister have gotten so far behind. *sighs*
To answer Betsie's question, my Screnzy name is AppleRain, but I get the feeling she knew that already.
DamselJillPole Thanks for the suggestions on things to look at. One can never have too many resources. (Okay, you can, but nevertheless...)

Well, I hesitantly decided I would attempt writing a script, but I have very little expectations of finishing it. April happens to be a busy month for me this year, and I'm lacking inspiration. So I wandered into this thread to try to find some. I suppose I'll answer the questions.
1. What type of script are you writing? I wanted it to be a stage play, but I think it's going to have be a screenplay.
2. Have you done this before? (If so, do you have any tips for us poor lowly newbies?) Nope. I have written a rather short screenplay before, but never on this scale, or in a month.
3. Are you planning on writing with someone? Sadly, no. I'd like to, but my brother wasn't interested and I don't know anyone else in real life who likes to write.
My story is set in the 1840's, on the Oregon trail. It's about a guy who's wasted his whole life and...that's all I really have so far. It's going to be a character driven story.
I'm liking everyone's plots! Pon and Starsy, your plots sound really neat. I'd like to read those screenplays.
