How will you be remembering fallen soldiers on Remembrance Day (or Veterans' Day as its called in the U.S. I believe)?
I will be proudly wearing my Poppy in remembrance of our soldiers, both past and present.

I can appreciate the efforts of those having served before and after me.
If we do nothing else, we can thank those veterans we know personally.
... that and we sit around for hours and tell stories about our time in service.

“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.”
My dad served in the United States Army for twelve years, before that my uncle served in the US Army for a long time and before that my grandfather served in the US Marines for a extended amount of time, in Korea, all that adds up to a extremely patriotic and promilitary grandkid, nephew and son, in the form of myself.
I will be remembering Veterans day by doing the same thing I do every time I see a Vet wearing their VOaFW hat. Thank them for serving, give them a handshake and salute as I walk away.

"The willingness of America's veterans to sacrifice for our country has earned them our lasting gratitude." Jeff Miller
This is something we can forget at times going about our life. Take only a moment today and think about or say a prayer for those having served or are serving the armed forces.

My chorus class sang The Star Spangled Banner in front of the flag at school on Veteran's Day. This one man honked and screamed from his car "You guys are great!" It was very very cool.

I had to call the announcement on 11/11/2010, to ask for one minute's silence for the fallen. That is what we do across Australia on Remembrance Day.
My own father served in the AIF (Australian Imperial Force) in World War 2, mainly at Darwin. He was to help relieve Timor, but they were turned back by Japanese planes, Timor having already fallen. Then the same force that bombed Pearl Harbour bombed Darwin on 19th February, 1942, the first two of sixty three such bombings at Darwin alone. There were other places in Australia that were also bombed, such as Wyndham and Broome(WA), Katherine (NT), Mossman, Cairns and Townsville in Queensland. Newcastle was shelled from the sea and three midget submarines raided Sydney Harbour.
Lest we forget.
