Has anyone seen Gatsby? It's one of my favorite books and I really enjoyed the movie as well.

The 1920's was a fascinating period and the look of the movie is very good but won't be seeing it. I found the book to be one of the most self-absorbed, pointless and dull stories I've ever had the misfortune of reading (and I've read some rubbish). More power to you if you enjoy it.

I went to see star trek due to Simon pegg and Benedict cumberbatch being in it. I actually enjoyed it, I never saw the first movie and the original tv series I saw about 10 years ago and it was only about 2 episodes.

Now that is a bit much. I thought it was beautifully written and captured both hope and despair perfectly.

Moonlight, I was sharing my opinion, yours can be different. The book captured despair well but I felt very little of the hope.

I had the chance to view Star Trek: Into Darkness with friends last night and echo the comments already made, especially Shadowlander's.
Benedict Cumberbatch makes an excellent villain, mysterious and chilling. More of the TOS-type chemistry between Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. A variety of nods to the Original Series.
This is NOT your daddy's Star Trek movie!
As someone who saw some of TOS when it first aired, I can agree with this - I enjoyed this movie (save for a couple of minor nitpicks which would be spoilers) and can recommend it either to fans of the original series or of Abrams' 2009 reboot.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
Aside from my hearing being on the sensitive side tonight due to an overly loud theater (Most would think the volume was just a tad loud. My ears were borderline for my tolerance level), I'd have to say Man of Steel was an interesting twist on the story of Superman without going cheesy. I could have done without the mass casualty count, but overall I thought it was a good movie.
After seeing Man of Steel yesterday I thought of a question that has come to my mind frequently: What do people who live in New York feel after seeing their city destroyed constantly in apocalyptic fashion in every blockbuster that comes out nowadays? Seriously, that city gets destroyed all of the time.
Anyway, I enjoyed Man of Steel. I do think it could have used a little breathing room as there was so much action that it became exhausting. Henry Cavil was a good Superman and I love Amy Adams in everything.
Winter Is Coming
My family went to see Man of Steel. And I really liked it. But it had some structural flaws in the first half. It just kind of moves from scene to scene without giving the audience time to catch-up. And the Clark-Lois romance is very under developed.
But once Zod shows up it really works! It has some the most intense action sequences I've ever seen.
The acting is also top-notch. Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Amy Adams are all VERY good. Laurence Fishburne's character isn't given much to do though.
All in all a very satisfying Superman film. Definitely better then Superman Returns
We also got to see Pixar's latest Monsters University!
And I was very pleasantly surprised. I wasn't at all looking forward to it because the trailers looked kinda dumb. But then I started hearing good things about, so I went in cautiously optimistic.
And it blew me away! Not only is it one of Pixar's funniest movies, it has a lot of heart and it's so unpredictable. While I don't think it's as good as some of Pixar's best, I liked it better than Cars, Cars 2, A Bugs Life and Brave, all of which except for Cars 2 I think are pretty good films.
So if your at all on the fence about this one, just go see it!!!
^ I agree! I loved Monsters University.

I'm glad to hear a number of you have enjoyed Monsters University; I'd like to see it, but am not sure if I'll get a chance before it leaves theaters.
Has anyone seen Despicable Me 2? There's a possibility we might be seeing it tomorrow, and I'm curious what other people thought of it.
My mom, elder sister and I saw Iron Man 3 last Saturday. It was darker, but we really liked it. I'd heard spoilers for some things, such as
God rest you merry, gentlemen,
Let nothing you dismay.
Remember Christ our Savior

When we were gone astray.
Iron Man 3 wasn't as dark as the first half of Iron Man but it was still rather dark in tone. I enjoyed it but not as much as the first (it was much better than the second one).
Monsters University was great fun! Not quite as good as the original but still incredibly enjoyable.

Aaah, I'm looking forward to Monster's U! I got two free tickets, so I'd like to go as soon as possible. I was looking forward to the characters, and I appreciate that the theme is really different (I heard it deviated from the "follow your heart, you'll get it all the time.") This is the first one I've attempted to stay spoiler-free on while still checking on news updates for the film.
I'm hoping to see "The Blue Umbrella" short. Did you see that one, Warrior?
RL Sibling: CSLewisNarnia
Yes, I did see the short beforehand. It was different and not one of my favourites but it was well done and very cute.

I've seen Despicable Me 2. While the plot is a bit of a mess, it doesn't really matter because it's just so funny I still like the first one better, but it's still pretty good for an animated sequel.
