Interesting. I've been hearing that Snow White and the Huntsman is decent but that Prometheus is visually amazing and the premise is interesting, but that the acting and script leave something to be desired. I may leave both of them for DVD. Still have to see Brave and The Avengers.

Yeah I heard one reviewer said that he had a problem with Prometheus' script, but when I saw the movie I never found the dialogue distracting in any way.
I never found myself rolling my eyes thinking "really".
So I'm not sure if I'm just more easy to please then other people, or if people have become overly picky and have to find something wrong with every movie.
And Snow White was not the worst movie I've seen, there were some things I liked in it. Overall it just didn't come together like I think it could have.
If you see them, I'd like to hear you opinion on them.
And yes do try and see Avengers! It's Great!

Surprisingly I still haven't seen Brave, I've seen all Pixar movies within the first week in theaters, (since Cars at least, prior to it I hadn't seen any in theaters). Avengers is amazing so yes, try to see it ASAP.
Snow White and the Hunstman,
I've seen mixed word on it. Some friends slightly like it- saying it drags a bit in certain parts. My brother saw it with his girlfriend and family, and none of them liked it- all hated it. I'm still not sure if I should see on DVD or not.
My fiance and I went to see The Amazing Spider-Man today. She was all in the movie, gasping/feeling sad- all of it. Enough to say she enjoyed it. Of course, I enjoyed it as well. In some things I prefer the original Sam Raimi, but in more I prefer this one. To sum it up, I prefer the new one to the old.
I loved Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, and can't wait to see him again here, (although I hope he continues to do serious movies too). Same goes for Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, was lovely.
Aside of several repeated things, I actually felt this one stood on its own ground without feeling like we were revisiting the whole story again.
Great villain! There's a scene after the initial credits, but not at the end of the long ones. Like with 2008's Hulk. A few credits, scene, more credits. 7/10 stars from me. It's no Avengers, but within the Spider Man world, my personal favorite.
Tuesday night I saw "The Avengers".
First up, the only Avengers I was familiar with, up until a few years ago, was the British spy TV series from the 1960's. Secondly, I enjoy comics but superhero adventures, beyond Batman, aren't really my thing. Probably has something to do with the silly costumes, over-the-top action, generally simple stories (this isn't true of all of them but there are some real duds) and all that spandex (oi vey!). I also prefer psychological content alongside the action - hence Batman. Finally, I haven't seen any of the associated movies (save "Ironman" - which I really enjoyed) and I only knew Thor from Norse mythology. So went into this movie pretty much blind. Now, onto my review:
! "The Avengers" is perhaps the first true superhero movie, ever. Was the movie perfect? No. Some of the costumes were silly, I didn't like the alien designs and Black Widow could've been better developed. Was it a great superhero movie? Heck, yes! "The Avengers" was well-written (thank you Joss Whedon), most of the acting was very solid (Thor withstanding), the character drama was quality (sometimes even hilarious), the action was spectacular but 'realistic' (up until the final showdown but the audience really cared about the characters at this point, so no harm done). The action scenes were bombastic and the scale of the whole thing was ridiculous but they suited the genre so well. Most importantly, the story was rooted in the characters, lending real weight to the action. I loved every minute of it.

I saw Avengers too a couple weeks ago. It was excellent. I have seen Iron Man (FINALLY got to see the whole thing) and Captain America so it was nice to have their 'back-stories'. I like the character development and it is rare to have a cast of so many 'heroes' and not lose the character aspect. GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra was a movie with lots of main characters but only two were well developed (Duke and Snake Eyes), the rest were just 'there'. But Avengers did it right. Having 2 1/2 hours REALLY helped in that regard.
My favorite aspect of the actions scenes wasn't the boom and show but how they really took advantage of each hero's abilities and combined them effectively. X-Men touched on these but were rather lacking when using their abilities together.
I'm planning on seeing Spider-Man next week and more plans to see Dark Knight Rises later on.
Be watching for the release of my spiritual warfare novel under a new title: "Call to Arms" by OakTara Publishing. A sequel (title TBD) will shortly follow.
After catching Avengers twice, once with my son, I have to admit they did a good job of it. I agree with fencer on how they combined the character's abilities.
I have to say Captain America is my favorit of the lead-up movies. We need some actual heros who are willing to sacrifice for the greater good
Iron Man had it's moments, but after awhile I was wanting Pepper Pots to just whack Stark with something, and shout "grow Up!"
Thor was ok. It did a fair job of the spoiled-brat-grows-up story. But it was a little predictable. I hope the second one turns out more solid like The Fantastic Four 2.
I saw brave with my wife and was quite impressed. the visuals were stunning, and the characters were I believe well thought out. The only negative
Solid? Fantastic Four 2 was a pretty mediocre movie. I can't comment on Captain America and Thor, as I haven't seen those yet.

W4J.
I think I will stick to two webbed thumbs up on FF2. The characters after the initial movie were established with their powers, but still in possesion of their flaws. The most noted being the torch, thus adding to the story line.
The only drawback is Chris Evans as Captain America now eliminates the possibility of the FF making a cameo in a future movie with Marvel Characters, or returning as a more beefed-up torch.
I got to see the Amazing Spider-Man and I gotta say it was much better then I was expecting. The acting was really good and some of the action scenes were really cool and original(Like Stan Lee's Cameo )
I'm eagerly awaiting a sequel
Puddleglum, I suppose it was better than the first. Maybe I focused to much on the acting (which was not good) and not enough on what they did correctly.

I would agree with the acting, at least for some. I was hoping though that of all the superhero seies that continued I was hoping on the FF. Of all the teams Avengers, X Men, etc. I must admit to being an admirer of how the team always seemed to survive, even with a family ( Reed, and Sue ) within the unit.
I saw The Amazing Spider-man last week and loved it. Overall, it's a better movie than the Rami films. It has a more mature tone, without being too dark, and has a better balance of humor and drama. The cast is fantasic, especially Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. While the movie shares a lot of plot elements from the 2002 Spider-man, it does them in a different way and keeps it fresh.
Brave was good, though it doesnt rank up with some of Pixar's best (like the Incredibles, Finding Nemo, and Toy Story). I found the plot to be a hybrid of
Prometheus was awesome. And I'm tired of all of the Critics and Alien fanboys whining about how it doesnt answer some of the questions it raised. The unanswered questions were either:
A. Raised to make the audience think
B. Raised to be concluded in a sequel (this film kinda sets up a sequel).
But the acting from the main cast was good, the visuals were amazing, and there were some extremely disturbing moments that match the orignal Alien films. The film also has the best use of 3D i've seen since Avatar.

I agree 100% with you, I don't understand why people are so against it!
I agree the 3D was phenomenal! Only Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Avatar was slightly better to me. Great 3D!
I also watched The Amazing Spider-Man. I really enjoyed it and it was as good as I was hoping it would be.
I loved Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and they did a really good job at keeping everything fresh, that I didn't really feel like I was watching a repeat of the previous three films.
I'm looking forward for the next two planned sequels!

Josh, how is it the critics and many public reviewers say that Prometheus has poor acting and you say it was good? I know you don't praise movies if they don't deserve some kind of recognition.
Just returned from seeing Pixar's Brave.
PROS: Princess Merida, her Clydesdale - Angus, the triplets, Billy Connolly, most of the cast, gorgeous visuals, the Scottish culture and accents, the drama, the action, much of the soundtrack, the 1st and 3rd acts, some good humour, and all that red hair!
CONS: Much of the 2nd act was a bit lazily-written and struck the wrong tone, making the movie seem rather uneven. Pixar generally manages to strike the right balance between the dramatic and funny moments but don't quite succeed this time. I also didn't care for this act (regarding the wild beast), because it seemed to tell a vastly different story to the one I had envisioned from the trailer (this Con is my own personal preference). As a whole I think Brave would've worked better as a dramatic adventure story, one with humorous moments, rather than what we were given. Still, a good movie and quite enjoyable.
