Since many of you have not seen this movie yet, I will make this review as spoiler free as possible, so that you won’t have to wait until you see the movie to read it. At the very worst, this review will only contain some minor basic-plot spoilers. Instead of focusing on exact details, the review will focus on how well I think the filmmakers' handled certain aspects.
Overall Thoughts: Overall, the movie was amazing. Whenever we review movies, I think we all kind of compare each movie to a hypothetical movie in our heads -- an idea of what a movie is supposed to be like. The Avengers is that movie in your head. It doesn’t measure up to the standard. It *is* the standard. What’s more, it’s a movie for everyone. Whether you’re into action movies, sad and tragic movies, happy and victorious movies, funny movies, edge of your seat movies, character-oriented movies, this is a movie that will become a favorite for you. No matter which character you follow -- be it one of the Avengers such as Iron Man or Captain America, or the villain Loki, or some other character -- this movie will deliver exactly what you desire. No matter how high your expectations are, you won’t be disappointed. See it. I give it a 10 out of 10.

I saw The Avengers at midnight!
Like everyone else, I Loved It!!! Easily a 10/10 for me!
Each of the characters were given the right amount of time on screen, and no one felt left out.
I love Loki (Tom Hiddleston plays him brilliantly), I Love him as much as I do the heroes, I know that might sound weird.
Another thing I really enjoyed about the movie was Hulk.
I've never been a big fan of Hulk, having seen both of the past Hulk films his character always came across flat. But I really liked Hulk in The Avengers!
Mark Ruffalo did a fantastic job at giving Hulk a real personality.
And finally getting to see Hawkeye in action, I really hope Marvel moves quicker on getting his movie made!
I Love the chemistry between everyone on screen, everyone shines and it's just a great fun action film, with Awesome characters!!!
I saw the movie in 2D and I'm seeing it again in IMAX 3D tomorrow, so if anyone wants to know which is better, I'll let you guys know.
Due to no computer to type on, I haven't been able to post much, but I saw two other movies at the end of March:
The Hunger Games: Really Enjoyed it! Great story! I've never read the books, so I have a questioned for those who have: On a scale from 1 to 10 how well was the book adapted to film? I'm looking forward to the sequel next year!
Wrath of the Titans: I love anything Greek Mythology, I thought the first movie was a decent fun film, I thought this one was better and had a stronger overall story.
I love seeing some of my favorite Mythological creatures like the Chimera alive on screen! Really makes me wish someone would make an Odyssey Movie!

Just saw The Avengers this afternoon, and can add only a little to Ithilwen's excellent and detailed review (and the comments others have made):
I've seen the Marvel movies leading up to this and have a general knowledge of the Marvel-verse, but my comic book geekdom pales in comparison to some people I know. Yet I had no trouble following the plot.
Like Bookwyrm noted, Joss Whedon's writing and humor shone through. Some of the quotes, such as Bruce Banner's
(I also liked Captain America's reply to
Good, fun movie. Lots of fantasy-type violence and things blowing up, but there's other things too. Go see it.
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
I hate reading all this stuff about the Avengers - i really want to see it, but can't just yet. Glad to hear you all like it so much, though.
I'm hoping to see it sometime next week.

)Spoilera comment that Thor and Loki were basically gods: "Ma'am, there's only one God, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that.
I saw that scene and that has to be one of my favorites!
I saw The Avengers yesterday. Initially, way back when it was first announced, I thought there was no way they were going to be able to pack all those characters into one storyline, and we would just end up with a brainless popcorn-muncher. Then the trailers started coming out, I heard nothing but positive reviews, and my expectations rose.
It's really a very good movie, no weaknesses to speak of. The acting is top-notch, visuals are good, and the storyline works very well. The character interactions are the highlight of the movie, as we see six very different characters go from butting heads (big time) to putting aside those differences and gelling as a team. The dialogue is great, cheesy at times, but what's a superhero movie without cheesy dialogue? The humor was great as well, I don't like superhero movies that are too serious. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that there weren't really any "goose bump moments" in it for me, which may have been partly due to overexposure to spoilers beforehand. Still, very entertaining movie, highly recommended. Make sure you stay until after the credits (the VERY end of the credits). They have the most incredible after credits scene ever.
I'm curious now about how they're going to handle Avengers vs. solo movies going forward. With Thor 2 and Iron Man 3 already announced, I'm assuming they're going to stay with the pattern they've got: 3-5 solo movies followed by a team-up.
Mark my words, someday I will think of something brilliant to put in my sig.
I'm going throw a curve in the Avengers traintrack we've got here.
I went to see The Raven with my sisters last week. The horror/thriller centers around an imagined serial killer who bases his murders on the works of Edgar Allen Poe. The movie was surprisingly funny, the murders unsurprisingly brutal. The acting was good, and the design of the film was excellent. The major downside was the writing. The plot and background could have been tighter, and a few of the actors suffered from poorly written dialogue (though they made the best of it). I wouldn't recommend seeing it even if you do like that sort of thing (I don't; I went for the sake of my bloodthirsty sister, who was also underwhelmed).
7 out of 10 stars, only go see if you're into that sort of thing, bored, and you have ten bucks on hand.
Carry on, superhero fanboys.
Speaking of which, we're glad to announce the opening of Assemble...a Marvel SF for all our Marvel/Avengers moviegoers and fans. Check it out!
ChristProclaimer, I'd seen a trailer for The Raven and was curious about whether or not I'd go see it. Thanks for your comments!
But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.
@Ithles Ah, thanks! That review was very helpful. (Okay that sounded sarcastic, I didn't mean it to ) Anyway, I'm hoping to see it as soon as my older sister has time.
I saw The Avengers last night, not much say to say given the excellent review on top, within the huge spoiler box- Really an excellent review!
Previous movies:
Iron Man I loved.
The Incredible Hulk I loved.
Iron Man 2 was merely OK.
Thor I really liked.
Captain America I loved.
Yet none of them can compare to The Avengers, easily the best of the six movies, helped of course because all of them are together in this one. I loved Edward Norton's Hulk and wanted him back, but I gotta say Mark Ruffalo was a better Bruce Banner. He gave him a more natural feel that comes across much better.
Just everything in the movie was amazing. I loved Black Widow here, whereas I was disappointed with her in Iron Man 2. I love the mention of Natalie Portman's character- they haven't forgotten her entirely. And Loki, is the best Marvel Villain in a movie so far IMO.
9/10 Stars.
Reading all the comments others posted about the Avengers I don't think theres much I can add. Awesome action, great characters, great humor, good villain.
Definitely on of the best superhero movies ever made.
Go see it!!!
Is anyone seeing For Greater Glory? Can I just say that that looks so good!
Man fires bullets...but God decides where they land.
O yeah...I SO want to see this......bad.

Yesterday I was able to see Snow White and the Huntsman, I didn't expect to really enjoy it, but to be entertained for a little while. I was pleasently surprised! The grittier feel really worked, and Kirsten Stewart impressed me, she had a few moments where I felt her acting was more wooden, but overall I was convinced and sympathetic to her character.
As for Charlize Theron as the evil queen, by the end of the movie I found her believable and quite terrifying but part of the beginning I found her a bit overdone/typical.
Something I thought was interesting, and not typical of this sort of movie, which is why it stands out more and I think has a different flavour, is the lack of romance.
I liked that they really played her her innocence, and that was why she was different. And I didn't really think there was too much of the "girl power/stick her in chain mail and have her a warrior!" It's made pretty clear she's not an expert fighter by any means, but she can take care of herself pretty well all the same.
So yeah. Maybe check it out. It surprised me

I have been following director Dean Wright's comments about this on Facebook for quite some months, and he now quotes a review which he can be proud of with good reason.

There, shining in the sunrise, larger than they had seen him before, shaking his mane (for it had apparently grown again) stood Aslan himself.

Even though it has been weeks sense I have seen them, I still thought I would post my thought on both Snow White and the Huntsmen and Prometheus.
Snow White and the Huntsman:
Going into it I felt the movie had a lot of potential to be great but after it was over it just fell short in my own opinion.
I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either, it was just ok.
I didn't care for Queen Ravenna's brother in the movie, I don't know why he just bugged me.
I don't think it was Kristen Stewart fault, but I don't think Snow White was done right, I think it had more to do with the overall writing, then the acting.
I thought the dwarfs were forgettable and they didn't do much.
On the plus side I Loved Chris Hemsworth! And how they fleshed out the Huntsmen's character (I'm more interested in seeing the Huntsman spin off coming out).
And Charlize Theron did a Great job as Queen Ravenna! I also liked her backstory and how they gave a reason for her needing Snow white's heart.
The color's in the movie were beautiful, I loved the black against red, or the reds against the whites! Very pretty.
Prometheus:
I loved this movie!
If your a fan like I am of the original Alien and the sequel Aliens, then I'm sure you would like this movie!
I thought Michael Fassbender did a Great job in this!
Really liked his character and Noomi Rapace also did a good job!
I loved how it tied into the originals at the end!
I would highly suggest watching the first half hour of the first film "Alien" to really be able to apperiate the nods and references to the first film. If you see it without seeing any of the other Alien movies you should still enjoy it though.
