Just saw The Phantom Menace 3D, and though I still like the movie the quality of the 3D effects was a huge disappointment For just about every scene I had to to be constantly straining to even see anything in 3D. A lot of the time you could just take off the glasses without seeing any real difference.
And I was really annoyed by how little work they put into the space scenes, they could have been incredible but most of them I couldn't see any 3D whatsoever.I hope the quality will get better when they do the rest of the series.
I just saw TPM last night, and I do have to agree with you about the 3D effects aragorn2.
I was really hoping that the podrace would look a lot different in 3D. But I did enjoy the movie overall. I remember being so exited when it was first released in 1999, so I'm really glad I decided to go see it again. Star Wars is even better on the big screen!

AROOOOOOO!!!
I saw Chronicle last week, I thought it was really good, except for the filming style which took away from the story. Otherwise, excellent movie. I hope there's a sequel.
Anyone seen the Woman in Black? I saw it last month, I really liked it, even if it was a bit predictable. I liked the way it didn't try too hard (such as insidious) but stuck to the old school horror movie style. Not very scary, but interesting for sure.

MoonlightDancer,
I saw The Woman In Black when it released last month, both my girlfriend and I enjoyed it very much. But we both preferred Insidious to it.
Don't you think insidious just got to that unbelievable point? Whereas woman in black probably only got to that point a little, such as when

Yes, I agree, Insidious did go a littler over the top, but honestly- both movies are lucky I even saw them- let alone liked them. This is not my genre of choice, but my girlfriend loves the genre. I saw them for her. I was pleasantly surprised with both. The spoiler comment, yeah- that was kinda odd, and totally different than from the rest of the movie.
I just came back from seeing The Hunger Games here, if you have any questions, shoot them to me
I haven't read the books, so I can't compare, I might write a little review later.
I just saw "October Baby" - wow, what an amazing, beautiful, brilliant movie!! absolutely incredible I highly suggest it for everyone - it shows how every life is a gift and how every life is beautiful. it made me consider things in my life that I had been trying to ignore and made me face them and want to be rid of them. it made me cry for all the kids who never got a chance at life because they were aborted. it made me love life in a way that I had not yet loved it before. it made me want, more than ever before, to stop abortion, stop killing, stop needless killing. life is beautiful and I just want the whole world to see this movie see it today - it will change your life

Libby, I'm so glad to see someone has seen October Baby and loved it. I really want to see it, but I don't thinks it's going to come to a theater close enough for us to go see it.

Last night I saw The Hunger Games. Let's get this out of the way first. It does shares similar themes to Battle Royale and Lord of the Flies but it's a different beast altogether. So stop comparing.
The movie was well done - the story was interesting, the acting for the most part was great (especially the lead girl playing Katniss). The emotions were raw, the violence brutal, the social satire/commentary equally disturbing, confronting and humorous. The focus was on the characters and story and the drama surrounding them, not the visual effects, which was refreshing for a big budget movie. I found the movie to be thought-provoking but restrained given the subject-matter.
There were a few niggles here and there - too much shaky-cam at times, too many close-ups (pulling back the camera doesn't hurt), a lack-luster ending and a few of the actors (minor ones) were average actors/actresses. Also, I found many of the Capitol high class costumes to be extremely tacky and inconsistent, but that was probably a design decision.
Overall, I thought it was a quality movie that disturbed me, made me think and helped me really care for the characters. That can only be a good thing. 7.5/10
Warning: Not for children or young teenagers. Contains moderate violence and mature themes.
Now, to read the book!

On Tuesday we're gonna watch Titanic in the movie theater.
There is a choice to watch it in 3D, I just wanted to know if anyone here has seen it in 3D? Is it even worth it? A couple of friends of mine went to Lion King 3D and said there were only a couple of "3D scenes" in the whole movie. Is it the same with Titanic? Because if it's not worh it, then I won't bother paying $3 more for the ticket

I've read a number of reviews for Titanic 3D. I'm not interested in seeing it but if you enjoyed the original, reviewers said Titanic 3D is one of the few good 3D movies and is only improved with the conversion.

Doctor Who - Season 11
Just out of sheer "Brain Fart" interest, I actualy saw "Wrath of the Titans" over the weekend and was pleasantly suprised. Not only is it a much improved version of the last one, "Is'nt hard", but it was a dencent and even fun flick.
Liam Neeson as Zeus and the special effects are once again the reason to see this movie and at times the action gets a little Micheal Bay, but it's overall very enjoyable.
In regards to new movies... The Avengers opened today. I have to admit, I did something I rarely do and that's join the opening weekend crowd at the theater.
Overall, it fit right in with the other Marvel superhero movies. Pretty good.
Spoilers and Opinions:
I was a little surprised that Jane didn't make more than a still picture cameo, but I think it goes back to the fact they had 8 major characters stories to tell. Yes, I know there's 6 Avengers. I'm leaving some incentive to watch the movie.
I never saw the previous Hulk movies. Either of them. I know the absolute basic which is he turns green and gets big when he gets angry and his other side was a normal, shy, slightly geeky doctor. I thought the actor they had did a great job.
The one liners flew fast and furiously. Did you really expect anything different when Tony Stark is in a movie? There were several good laughing moments and a couple of heartbreaking moments.
There are two scenes in the credits. The last one is insanely funny because it is absolutely pointless.
I did keep the above fairly vague if anyone wants to read it. I put it in spoilers mainly for those who don't want to read any spoilers. Definitely a good summer popcorn flick. It is not for younger kids or kids sensitive to death or destruction. I wouldn't mind seeing it again.
Oh and I saw it in 2D. Not a 3D person.
So, I saw The Hunger Games last Friday, and thought I'd share my opinion.
I came into the theater mostly worried about flat acting and over-done action sequences, but my fears were put to rest immediately. Although there were several intense and well-done action scenes, there was a lot of good, slow-paced stuff.
I enjoyed the score very much, and the CGI was absolutely flawless. I seriously cried during this movie, and I never do that. The acting was amazing on everyone's parts, and I think I can honestly say that it's one of the most believable movies I've ever seen.
I went to see Avengers with a group of friends today. I loved it. Easily Marvel's best film. Funny, sad, exciting, it hit pretty much every emotion a superhero film could. The visuals are rather amazing, but the characters' interactions was definitely the best part of the movie. You could tell that Whedon had a hand in the writing from just how clever and funny it all was. Only one of my friends had watched all of the previous movies and one had only watched the Marvel version of the Hulk, but none of them had trouble following the movie. As for the first bonus scene,
Don't forget to stay for the entire credits. There's a final scene at the very end of them.
