First of all; Tintin.
I saw it when I was in Chicago, on Tuesday. I knew I was going to see it sometime, and my family was hanging around wondering what to do with the afternoon. So we went and saw it.
I really really liked it!! It was by no means one of my favorite movies, but it was the first movie I've seen in theatres for awhile than I felt completely good about it when I walked out - there wasn't anything missing, anything overdone, anything not right about it. It was just a good movie.
The animation was excellent; Tintin really looked real. I didn't find the action at all overwhelming, and I don't think there was too much - they did a good job fitting character development into the action. It was amusing, well made, and I recommend it.
But everyone there, except me and my brother, were either over 20 or under 10 - no one in the correct age range. I think the movie (and more so, the trailers in front of it!! Geez!) were not appropriate for the ten 7 year olds there.
War Horse. I liked it better.
It was just a wonderful, wonderful movie. Moving, beautiful, real. I loved how
The music was wonderful, cinematography, acting. All top notch. The last scene was absolutely beautiful.
Everyone see it. It's a wonderful movie.

I did too I've been wanting to see that... Hopefully I can get someone to take me

Just saw Tintin.
(Sorry 7chronicles, but our theatre had the Hobbit trailer, and I must admit it was quite good. The scene where the dwarves were singing made me want to light a pipe, and join in then, and there, and I don't smoke.)
The action scenes, and dialog, reminded me of the comics I read in my, (not tooooo distant), youth.
I think they did a good job of animation, and while the slapstick was a little unbelievable, it fit in with humore of the original series.
Saw War Horse today. It was a very good and moving film. It sort of reminded me of Black Beauty in a way. The cinematography was gorgeous and the story was touching. A really good family movie. 8/10

So I'm planning to watch Tintin when I get back to college. I get back on the 18th. Does anyone know how long Tintin will be in theatres? I can't really find any dates that far in advance.
18th of this month? It should definitely still be in theaters. Movies tend to stay in theaters around two months depending on demand, and it hasn't even been a month yet so you're good.
Movies I've seen recently...
Sherlock Holmes - Liked. I thought the cinematography and action was pretty fascinating and I loved the whole end sequence. As soon as I heard "Switzerland" and saw the waterfall I was like, ahh.
Tintin - Really liked! Great movie all around; nice story, good visuals, and just utterly fun. Really enjoyed it and I can't wait for the rest of the movies.
Moneyball - Liked. I'm not really a baseball person but this made the "executive" side of the game pretty accessible and interesting. It had humor, which I love, and it was fun to see real-life events play itself out. Except it was kind of weird because the movie was set in 2002 and I distinctly remember that year because the Angels won and it was the first time I ever really watched a baseball game (Game 7, hehe. What an introduction...). So it was weird to watch the movie and already know how it was going to end, i.e. they lose.

That's what I figured. I just remember VoDT coming out and getting up to college around the 17th. I didn't go see it the first weekend I was up there and I tried to go the next weekend and it was out of theatres, at least where I was. I really don't want to miss Tintin. But then, VoDT opened on what, the 10th? Tintin didn't open until the 21st.
It's great to see Tintin get some lovin'!
Narnian_at_Heart, I honestly don't know. Tintin hasn't been performing that well in America (he's largely unknown there and there's quite a bit of competition from other movies). That said, Gymfan could be right. I mean she normally is.

Liberty, a number of people posted their thoughts on War Horse on the previous page. 7chronicles posted here, narnian1 here, Elanor here, and stateofgreen commented on it here. There may've been a few more comments on page 51, but I'll leave you to track them down.
I saw Tintin the day after it came out and I rather enjoyed it, especially trying to find all the little nods to the books. It's been several years at least since I've read any, but it was still fun seeing what I could remember. The climax of the story was a bit of an odd thing since it wasn't the climax of the action; I guess it didn't really feel quite climaxy to me. I thought the ending was pretty good as it left the story clear open for continuation but it wasn't a cliffhanger. I'm a bit disappointed, though not terribly surprised, to hear it hasn't been doing that well in the USA---my sisters, a friend, another family and I all went to see it together, and our small group was about half of the viewers there. I hope it's doing better elsewhere in the world---it's not the greatest movie ever, but it deserves to do well, and it certainly deserves the rest of the films more than a lot of sequel-bearing films do.
Some days you battle yourself and other monsters. Some days you just make soup.
Tintin has made around $260 million internationally, and $50 million in the US.

Saw War Horse today. Wow. Just wow. I thought they did a great job balancing war and the character storylines. They also did a great job making sure that they didn't go overboard with the gore and yet still showing how horrific war really is.
7Chronicles, yes, that's Herge.
Awesome! I thought it was! I Love little nods like that in movies!
I'm really disappointed that Tintin is not doing as well here in the US, I expected to do better overseas, but I thought at least it would be doing a little better then it is here.
Especially because it was one of the only family movies out during Christmas time besides War Horse.
I also really enjoyed your review of Tintin Warrior!

Thanks, mate! I appreciate your love for Tintin.
I'm looking forward to The Muppets movie. I grew up with The Muppets and it looks like a lot of fun. Has anyone else seen it? What did you think (no spoilers please).
And I'll likely rewatch The Adventures of Tintin in the next week.
