I'm trying to decide whether or not I should go see the Help with my sister. She doesn't want me to go unless I can convince her I really want to go. I'm a bit worried about the language. Is the swearing overwhelming? Will I walk out of the movie with swear words floating around in my head? Does the language overshadow the good parts? Sorry if this has been discussed. I don't have time to go looking.

I saw The Help over the summer,
I can't recall anything as far as language- there might be some mild stuff but nothing like the harder (F) language. It's rated PG13 because of the topic of racism.
*hopes someone else clears it up further*
Well, there is quite a bit of swearing and some racial slurs, but keep in mind that this was in a time period in the US that this was common. But don't worry, the swearing isn't the main point of the story. You'll find yourself enjoying the story so much you won't really care.
Just a warning: There is a scene that might gross some people out, but it is intended to be comedic. Other than that, enjoy. It's one of my favorite movies of the year.
I saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes the other week with my sister. We both loved the film, in spite of not having seen any of the other PoA films. There wasn't much adult content. And Tom Felton was in it! Always a bonus.
Is anyone going to see Courageous? I'm hoping to go see it this week. I have to say, it looks pretty good to me.
Pattertwigs- There is a lot of swearing in the movie, and while I found it unpleasant, it in no way changed my opinion of the movie. While it didn't seem to have anything to do with the plot line, it was realistic.
I have to admit that gross scene mentioned by Lou was a little off putting (:P), but it was somewhat important to the movie, and again, didn't change the excellent plot. I'd recommend you seeing it, as long as you're prepared for the swearing.
Has anyone seen Moneyball, and if so, was it good, and what was the reason for the PG-13 rating?

I am SO seeing Courageous this weekend!! We're hoping that our entire church can go on Sunday. If we don't, my family's gonna go opening night. I can't WAIT!

Twigs, I really recommend The Help. In particular, there is a burst of foul language at one point near the beginning (when Skeeter goes into a prospective boss' office), but this is not the story's focus, which is so much higher and better. Just ... plug your ears.
There are a couple of unnecessary and very brief sexually-related shots, but just ... close your eyes, lol.
The story, itself, is so inspirational, and the actresses who play Skeeter, Aibileen, and Minny are excellent-plus. It is a very invigorating tale, 'though difficult and tears-inducing at times, from which one comes away motivated to stand up and speak up against the evils of this world, especially when it relates to folk thinking that one race is of lesser value than another. Ugh! I couldn't believe the frustration building up in me when seeing the extreme and ridiculous prejudice portrayed so vividly on-screen. Sad that it was, and still often is, true.
'Tis a film that won't leave you unmoved. I hope you can get to see it soon.
EDIT: About that 'gros' scene, it is meant to be shockingly funny, but still may bother some.

A local church gave 25 tickets to Courageous to my InterVarsity leaders to give to InterVarsity students for this Saturday. And now, I have to decide whether I want to go to Courageous or if I want to go to the first college hockey game of the season. I can't decide. Either way, I'll need a ride but if I go to the hockey game, I have a slightly better chance of getting a ride since my sister is going anyway.
Go see Courageous!! They need your support on opening weekend!

I saw Courageous today, I thought it was great too! A very strong message for men. I'm not a father, but I must remember the message for when the time comes- which is very biblical. I'd recommend it to all, but especially men.
My Mom, my sisters, and I saw Courageous this afternoon. WOW! It was amazing! I highly recommend it. The acting was pretty good. The score was awesome, I really want the soundtrack. And I love that Sound Of Your Voice by Third Day was in it. Note: You will probably want a hankie.
I have already add the DVD and soundtrack to my wishlist.

I also saw Courageous today. First, let say that it's by no means a perfect movie: my biggest complaint is that I thought they got a little carried away with all the different subplots they packed into the story. They also had quite a bit of jerky camerawork during the action sequences, of which I'm not a big fan. But overall, I was very impressed, this is Sherwood Pictures' best so far. The acting, while not Oscar-worthy, was very solid; I was particularly impressed with Alex Kendrick(as Adam) and Rusty Martin(Dylan). They had several easter eggs from past Sherwood films sprinkled throughout, such as a Jay Austin Motors plate(a nod to Flywheel), which I enjoyed. It was a very emotional film, I could hear people around me in the theater just sobbing at parts, but still had enough humor to balance things. As I said, Sherwood Pictures' best film so far, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they do next.
Mark my words, someday I will think of something brilliant to put in my sig.
Saw Courageous with my family today.
I think i'd say i liked it more than Fireproof, but i'm not sure if that's because this one was better or if i'm just more tolerant. Still, i would say it was generally a good movie.
There wasn't really one overarching story, which was a little odd, and it was a bit preachy in places, but i'd say it avoided the over-sentimentalism of too many "Christian" films. The acting was largely good, though some of it pulled me out of the film.
And it managed to be very, very funny in places. I'd recommend it.

I watched Courageous last night. I went into it expecting it to be not very good from what I'd heard about it. The plot just didn't sound interesting. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought it was pretty good. The acting was better than both Flywheel and Facing the Giants although it wasn't quite as good as Fireproof, in my opinion.
This movie is a tear jerker. You will probably cry, even if you're a guy. I went with five guys and one other girl and three of the guys admitted that they had teared up. And I had tears a couple times and I'm a girl who never cries during movies no matter how sad.
The plot was pretty good. Yea, it did have lots of sub-plots throughout but there weren't so many that I got lost in them. It had some really funny moments that had the entire theatre roaring.
All in all, a pretty good movie. I'd reccomend it for anyone.
I saw Courageous last night and WOW that movie was amazing! Sherwood Pictures totally outdid themselves - it's their best one yet
I thought the acting was the best they have ever done and the overall production was so professional and I had found out, while following the filming process last year, that they had had a professional lighting team come in to do each scene and I think that totally made a huge difference on the quality level of the film.
I cried four different times during the movie and I laughed more times than I can count. it was so uplifting and emotional and the themes and the plot and subplots were so epic and I was drawn into the story from the start
I recommend this movie for everyone it was SO amazing and uplifting and you don't have to be a guy or a father to be encouraged by this movie! go see it if you have not!
