I thought Thor was very good, I pretty much agree with Bookwyrm's assessment.

Pirates 4 was really good, almost as good as the first (and of course far better than the last two). I feel like they finally "got it" again with how Jack Sparrow presents himself, unlike 2 and 3 where it was a clearly forced pathetic attempt to recapture part 1. I do agree with Josh that Blackbeard was pretty underdeveloped, we hear a lot about how terrible of a person he is and how he tortures children for fun, but we never actually get to see him do anything that bad.

I went to see Kung Fu Panda 2 yesterday; and was pleasantly surprised! I wasn't impressed with the first one, but though it's been a long time, I think this one was a lot better. It wasn't *sweet*, but the action was really cool and fun and well done; and it wasn't very stupid. :) I liked it a lot!

Just saw X-men: First Class last night! It was probably the best X-men movie. Much better than the last two which were shallow and a bit cartoonish.

And it's better than most superhero fillms in recent years including Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Watchmen, Iron Man 2, and Thor.

I just saw X-Men: First Class this morning. While it was good, I don't think it was the best in the series, though it's definitely better than Wolverine. I prefer the original trilogy however, (even The Last Stand which I know has its flaws).

It's not that it's a bad movie, no- it's a solid movie but not great IMO. It has many good moments but it also has many moments where I just didn't care for it. I wasn't crazy for the editing either.

Went to see X-Men the other day...I've only seen the other movies once, and I'm definitely not a comic book person, so I was mainly attracted to the A-list cast and the promise of a good story. I was not disappointed. :)

Considering the slew of superhero movies that have been flooding the cinemas lately, and of the handful that I've seen, X-Men definitely ranks at the top. I thought it was really great to see the origins of all these characters that you get to know in the other movies, and it had a complex and interesting plot as well. I thought all the actors did a really good job; I have nothing but good things to say about them. I can't help but feel a bit maternal about James McAvoy; seeing as how it's like we "discovered" him in LWW, and now he's gone on to be this big movie star that just keeps getting better and better. :p ;) ;)) And since I'm really looking forward to the Hunger Games, it was cool to finally see Jennifer Lawrence in action.

DON'T READ if you haven't seen the movie! No big plot revelations below; just...don't read. :p

Spoiler
It was awesome when Xavier was searching for the other mutants via Cerebro; I spotted lil' Storm in the crowd and I'm sure others had cameos too; I'm just not familiar enough with the franchise to know it. I saw the movie in a pretty packed cinema, and the crowd just erupted when Wolverine appeared. While I'm disappointed with his choice of language, that cameo was brilliant and so funny. I wasn't expecting to see him at all so that was pretty awesome.

I also saw X-Men: First Class last Friday, and I really liked it! :)
The Cast was great, espically James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender!
It was nice to finally understand some of the characters from the first three X-Men and see where they all started from. :)

(Since its been nearly a week I hope its ok to double post) :)

I saw Super 8 yesterday and I enjoyed it. :)
It was like the Goonies but with Sci-Fi. :p
I'm not sure if its everyones type of movie, but If you like The Goonies or E.T. then I think its safe to say you would like it. :)

^^ ooh, I want to see Super 8!
I have a question - does the zombie thing (for the kid's film) get really weird, or is it just kids play (I hope that makes sense)?

@Liberty Hoffman:
I would personally just call it kids play. ;)
Here is what Plugged In says about the zombie movie (no plot spoilers):

The kids' Super 8 zombie movie—which is played in its entirety during the credits—sports some (very unrealistic) blood flow. One zombie, for example, has its head supposedly impaled on a grouping of nails, and another takes a (cap gun) blast to the chest.

If you want to know anything else just let me know, Hope that helps you. :)

I saw Xmen yesterday and don't know what to say... it was AMAZING! I coulsn't believe how good it was, and i never one yawned, despite the fact that it was 2 1/2 hour long and i saw it at 8pm!!! I am a huge Xmen fan and this was by far my favourite of the series!!!!! I can't wait for it to come out on DVD. Did anyone notice Bill Milner from Son of Rambow as young Magneto?! He looks very different now! :)

I went to see X-Men: First Class today. Not just a great superhero movie, but a good movie regardless of genre. Solid acting all around. The much-complained about January Jones wasn't even as horrible as I'd been led to believe. I think some of these people have never watched Megan Fox try to act. Definitely looking forward to seeing what they come up with for the sequel.

Just a note, this isn't really one for the younglings. It is pretty violent and Wolverine drops the f-bomb, which was in character and even, dare I say it, funny, but I don't think anyone wants their five year old repeating it.

Hehehe, there seems to be a second wave of people seeing that movie ;)) I also saw the X-men movie this past week... Thought it was pretty good, it kept me hooked all the way through, and it was cool to see the background stories of the characters.

Actually Booky, I thought that the Wolverine movie was much more violent than this one... aside from the f-bomb

The only thing I have to complain about from the movie was

Spoiler
the lack of continuity to the other movies and the fact that Azazel, Havok, Banshee, and Riptide didn't have much of a role other than some really awesome special effects and action... although on the other hand I think that if they put that stuff in, the movie would drag on

Spoiler
Haven't watched Wolverine since it came out, so you might be right. I was mainly thinking of the way Erik killed Shaw though. That made me cringe a bit. But at least they refrained from having blood goosh everywhere.

Yeah, there was some definite tiering of the character development. Somewhat understandable considering the sheer amount of characters in it, but it would have been nice if those four had had more lines or something. I don't think Riptide ever spoke.

I saw Super 8 this week ,it was great! Exceptional film making, to be sure.

Then I made the mistake of going to see Hanna, which was one of the worst made movies I've ever seen. Story was terrible, effects were amateurish, and I wanted to leave or fall asleep halfway through.

It's great to hear that Super 8 was very enjoyable. I'm disappointed to hear Hanna was so bad. I've only heard good things about it. Maybe I'll wait to see it on DVD.
