I just got to see Soul Surfer, and it was beautiful. I was really really impressed, and I really loved it - I can't wait to go see it again!

I finally went to see Hanna. While the film was interesting enough, I felt it lacked any real redeeming quality. It was a film you watched, not actually one you truly enjoyed. And it was surprisingly dark; there really was no hero (except perhaps Erik), and no sense of salvation. The story ends, the losers die, and the survivors walk away into oblivion with no hope and no future.
Saorse Ronan was at her usual brilliance as Hanna. Unfortunately, she never persuaded me to empathise with the character. I didn't feel any more sorry for or proud of her than I did the villains. Also, Cate Blanchett had an absolutely ghastly accent on and off through the film. Truly annoying.
Summary: Hanna is an okay film if you feel like going to see some action. Story and peformances were well executed, but not compelling. And obviously, not for kids.
I'd like to see The Grace Card and Soul Surfer... But the last one not with my brothers, so I guess I'll have to wait for it to be out on DVD.
We saw African Cats on Friday when it came out, and I really enjoyed it! I saw Oceans last year, but I liked African Cats a lot better-- I'm not as much of a sea creature person I guess. I liked that AC didn't have any evolution in it, which was surprising and also really nice.
Anyways. It was a really cool movie.

Queen Susan, yeah, DisneyNature has done several docs already,
Earth/Oceans/Crimson Wings (Flamingos)/African Cats
Pollen has reached US, and Chimpanzee next year. They focus on the animals today. None I've seen of theirs deals with evolution at all. Not that type of docs. Thankfully.
Has anyone seen arthur yet? what is it like?
Ack. Arthur stars Russell Brand. Need anything more be said? I haven't seen it; nor do I want too.

IloveFauns, I've heard from some friends that it was really funny, a couple went with low expectations but ended up really enjoying it. Not appropiate for young kids though. They don't get the jokes and will be bored.

avvie by AslansChild thank you!!!
But Arthur isn't aimed at kids, so that's okay.

Russell Brand brand is awsome, maybe not as good as josh or noel fielding.
I'm assuming this new Arthur is a remake or "reimagining" (as the modern crowd likes to call it when they run out of fresh ideas and decide to repackage and older one) of the one with Dudley Moore? My wife enjoyed the first one from the 80's, though it wasn't really my cup of tea.
Kennel Keeper of Fenris Ulf
Shadowlander, you're correct.
Just returned from Suckerpunch. Enjoyable movie, if at times disturbing due to the themes of dealing with abuse. A complex combination of psychological thriller/drama with anime-inspired fantasy/action/adventure. Good story (but the script a bit messy at times), minimal character development, decent to poor acting, great soundtrack too but the music is a bit too loud at times. Definitely style over substance but there was still much more to the movie than just kick-butt girls with guns and swords. The movie was about empowerment in horrible circumstances. Reminiscent in part to Inception, The Matrix and Shutter Island but could've been more thought-provoking than it was, really. Recommended for older teens and adults - moderate violence and moderate themes. 7/10 or 7.5/10

haha - I understand you, but I went to see it with my brother, and since they were pretty young, it didn't really bother us. Can't you find anyone else to go see it with you? It's so good, and it adds so much to see it in a theatre.

^ Hm, well, I'm glad it didn't bother you guys. I sort of doubt my brothers would want to see it though. Or take the chance of it bothering them.
One of my girl friends sounded interested- but the next month is super busy, so we'll see... I'm still not totally sure on whether I really want to see it badly enough to spend 9 bucks. 😉
