I saw Rango as well. I didn't like it either, but I think its more personal taste than movie quality that caused those feelings. It didn't help that the theatre was full and we had to sit at the very front.

I do think that it was made well, and visually pleasing, great effects. The story was funny, some lines and parts were funny, some cool characters - but through it all, I didn't like it at all. :P

I also saw Rango and agree that it wasn't that great. :(
I had been meaning to write what I thought about I Am Number Four, but Warrior 4 Jesus said exaclty what I thought about it. :p :)

Not sure if we are going to see SuckerPunch or not, I'm interstead in seeing it, but not sure what sort of content it contains. So we'll see. :)

I've heard great things about Rango so I'm intrigued by the lack of love it receives in this thread. I'll probably check it out tomorrow night.

Sucker Punch is rated M for "Frequent action violence and mature themes". (Australia) I'm not sure what it's rating would be in the US.

@Warrior 4 Jesus: Even though I didn't really care for Rango, It wasn't the worst animated movie ever, maybe my expectations were just to high. ;) I'd like to hear what you think of it after you see it. :)
Thanks for the SuckerPunch rating, its rated basically for the same stuff here in the United States. I just wonder how far it goes into those contents, hopefully not to far so I'll be able to enjoy it. ;)

It's rated pg-13 in the US. IMDB's Parental Guide has a pretty good run down on any potential "objectionable material." I'm personally a little disappointed with the pg-13 rating. After 300 and Watchmen, I'm surprised Snyder is reeling it in, so to speak.

Sucker Punch had been one of my most anticipated films of the year for a long time, but early reviews aren't that great, and supposedly Warner Bros. isn't too happy with the final product. So I may end up not seeing it at all. I'll definitely want to see it in theaters if I do see it though, as it looks like one of those movies that you have to see on the big screen to enjoy.

I viewed Unknown this weekend and enjoyed it. Liam Neeson does an excellent job as an American researcher who wakes up after a Berlin car accident to discover no one knows him. It's in the suspense genre, with plenty of car chases and the like, and a couple interesting plot twists that I won't spoil here.

I couldn't help comparing it to the last movie I saw in the cinema, The Adjustment Bureau, though they are different from each other. I think I liked Unknown better, even if there's nothing in it, chemistry-wise, to compare with Damon and Blunt in Bureau.

It was filmed largely in Berlin, and showcased some of the city's ancient and beautiful architecture well, even though it was filmed in winter and thus was a bit gloomy, with barren trees and such.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Thanks bkey, that makes it a little more clear for me! :)
I didn't even know IMDB had a Parental Guide. :p

I saw Rango today. First up I have to say it was different to what I expected. T'was a very odd movie. Second, it wasn't the worst animated movie I've seen, it was actually quite good (above average). The animation was fantastic, the voice-acting - great, the script and characters - unique. The villain of the piece was genuinely terrifying (refreshing!) even for myself as an adult. Rango gets many brownie points for originality. Unfortunately the script was sloppy at times, there was some dodgy humour and the medium experimentation wasn't always successful. Also, it could've used more 'Fun'.
The character designs were interesting but rather ugly (I guess audiences aren't used to seeing animated animals that look like the real thing). The movie was dark, sombre, surreal and odd.
An enjoyable movie but not for most children*. 7/10 (8/10 if you enjoy westerns).

*The atmosphere of the movie is rather adult. Yes, there's some dodgy dialogue but it's more the pacing and maturity of the dialogue/situations (identity, purpose - philosophy etc.) that children may have difficulty understanding and/or find boring.

I just saw insidious. It was pretty interesting but not very scary in my opinion. The first half of the move was better than the second.

Has anyone seen Beastly? I just finished reading that book and am debating going to see it. I don't see many movies a year and am quite picky about what I see, so I would welcome any opinions on the movie :)

Lucy85, I have also read the book but I haven't been able to see the movie yet, I've talked to people who have and they love it but its different one some points from the book, if your a book purist I'm not sure if you will want to see it or at least wait until DVD, but if that doesn't bother you, I'm sure you will love the movie :)

Thanks for the advice Georgie :) I may wind up waiting on the DVD, simply because I have to make arrangements for someone to keep my son, so I may just have to wait :)

I don't like horror movies, though an occasional suspense is fine (The Sixth Sense I love for example). Still, knowing that my girlfriend loves horror- and knowing it was only rated PG 13, I surprised her by taking her to go see Insidious today. If it had been R I would not have done it because horror and me don't mix. Still I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised by this one. We both very much enjoyed the movie, and it seems most the audience did as well. I give it a solid 7/10 stars. I'd recommend it.

The story is good, plenty of "jump" moments. Plenty of screepy moments. Several instances of language too. Not the scariest of movies I guess, but enough scary for me and I don't think I'd be able to handle stronger.

Has anyone seen Source Code yet? Saw it with family. I thought it was much better than The Adjustment Bureau. It was written better and did a good job building up suspense. Not sure about the ending though....
