Narnian1: ok I just edited my post and made that a spoiler :P

Spoiler
I dunno, I thought it was a happy ending, because the top started slowing down and it was pretty obvious that it wasn't going to spin forever, despite the fact that they cut it off before it stopped.

I haven't seen Page in any other movies BUT Inception so that's probably why I can see her as resembling someone else more easily. From what I've seen in photos, I think it's mainly the hair that does it. for those who haven't seen the movie... here are a couple pictures- http://www.coupdemainmagazine.com/image ... ion-32.jpg (on the left in both, obviously)
You're welcome Booky!

MissAravis - Interesting about the score. I heard in an interview that Zimmer tried to incorporate bits of 'non je ne regrette rien' into his score, but I didn't notice anything before.

As to the the ending of Inception

Spoiler
I reckon it was real. That's the fun of it though ... we'll never really know.

I went to see Toy Story the other day. Awww. It made me feel so guilty - I'm moving house and have literally just given a bunch if my old toys away. I hope they'll be okay! :-s :D

I won't lie -

Spoiler
the crazy monkey and the broken baby doll scared me witless.
I liked the ending though, every cloud and all that.

I went to watch How to Train Your Dragon at the dollar theater with some friends this week. I really enjoyed it. :) It was a delightful movie, soooo beautiful in parts; I especially liked the scene where Hiccup first took Astrid for a ride. The visuals in that scene were just spellbinding. And it was all-around good storytelling too; my only complaint was that the humor was a little juvenile in some places, especially for a movie that seemed to me more attuned to adults than kids.

Several of us could hardly keep from laughing every time Hiccup came on screen, because he looks just like a guy from our church. =))

One of my favorite films from this year, definitely.

Charlie St Cloud,
I saw this today. I found it to be a decent movie. Not bad, but not great either. I was also able to figure out an important plot of the movie beforehand. I'd give it a "C" grade.

It does have some suggestive dialogue, thought not explicit given its rating, but what is surprising is some of it comes from the actor playing the dead eleven year old brother (that is given in the trailers so I should think is not a spoiler).

I've just come back from watching Inception for the first time. Wow. Consider my mind blown. Combine elements of Memento, James Bond, The Matrix, The Sandman (graphic novels), LOST, ExistenZ, Dark City and Oceans 11 and you may get some idea of what this movie has to offer. The script could have been a little tighter in places and character development was minimal but this is one movie that stands strong on it's high-concept ideas and visual storytelling. Just brilliant! You can't be told what Inception is, you have to see it for yourself.

Warning: For older children and over. Inception contains some violence, heavy themes, several instances of language (God's name in vain) and requires the viewer's full attention.

Today we went to see Toy Story 3. The Dawn Treader trailer was the last trailer before the theater messages-- I was thrilled to see it on a larger screen. Definitely added a more magical effect. :D
The movie itself was excellent. The beginning was entertaining, the plot interesting, and there were those touching moments that had me near crying. If I had been in a different mood, I would have probably bawled but it was pretty emotional.

Spoiler
The part at the landfill when the toys held hands and accepted their fate tugged at my heartstrings a great deal. And a what a sweet way to conclude the movie! Granted, it's the tiniest bittersweet but it was a lovely ending for all the toys.
Another part that made me feel miserable was when the toys were escaping Sunnyside and Lots-o' found out and then yelled at the poor baby toy. :'(

Ken and Barbie were sooo funny, but the couple that made me most amused were the Potatoes. Mrs. Potato was a hoot! :))
Apart from some unexpected jokes from a Pixar movie, it was a wonderful movie that I would watch again and purchase in a heartbeat. =]
Has anyone seen Despicable Me? If so, is it any good?

I was able to view Inception this weekend and offer hearty affirmation to your comments above! (even though I'm not familiar with all the sources you mention). Great stuff. I enjoyed the extra effort required to keep track of everything - and I'm sure there is stuff I missed - and look forward to catching more on a repeat viewing.

I was also reminded of elements from the Bourne films.

One additional connection I caught early on is, believe it or not, to Star Trek: Voyager. The concept of a

Spoiler
'dream totem' is explored in the 4th-season episode "Waking Moments" - which also looks at lucid dreaming, being trapped in dreams, and some other elements a little reminiscent of this film.

But all night, Aslan and the Moon gazed upon each other with joyful and unblinking eyes.

Just saw Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Excellent movie. It's really disappointing that it hasn't done better financially here in the U.S. But anyway, really fun, fast paced film with plenty of action, romance, and humor to go around. It also has somewhat of a message, and is deeper than your normal Hollywood film, which is hard to come by these days.

I had been anticipating the movie for awhile, with rather high expectations after the movie got great reviews, and I wasn't let down at all. My roommate was somewhat skeptical about seeing it, but ended up loving it.

Michael Cera is good as the titular character, and doesn't really play his normal shtick. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jason Schwartzman, Anna Kendrick and especially Kieran Culkin all stood out as well as giving very good performances.

The story is very unique, and there's never a dull moment. Those who are fans of old school video games will get a kick out of many of the gags, as a lot of the movie actually plays as if it is a video game. However, this aspect of the movie isn't pretentious or overbearing.

8/10

It's good to know Scott Pilgrim is a good film, bkey. I've been kinda wanting to go see it. Michael Cera's a good actor and a funny kid and I've enjoyed his work since he was on Arrested Development. He has the "slightly nerdy, clumsy, shy kid with the good heart who ends up being unintentionally humourous" schtick down pat, yes? ;)) And anything with old school arcade theme in it is fine in my book. B-)
